Q: Typing delay after IOS 7 update

I don't have an issue with a lag of a nanosecond or two. I DO have an issue with the letters showing up at all when I'm typing! I've been noticing that when I type a reply to an article or blog post, I'm typing right along and then my keyboard (except for the delete/backspace button) just stops working!

There's got to be a better way than turning off documents and data in iCloud. I performed a settings reset, and it didn't fix the problem.

So did your keyboard stop responding or was there just a little delay? Mine stops responding except for the backspace button.

everyone I know who has updated to IOS7 on iPhone 4 is annoyed ( to put it mildly ) I am even considering going to the Apple Store and insisting that they bring me back to IOS6 and that they do the Restore in the store. I am not using my data and time to do this.  Everything is slow. there is a delay opening ANY App. It's annoying.

And I am getting really tired of endless iTunes updates. I barely have time to get used to the changes there is yet another updatee. 

I adjusted the text size like two clicks to the right to make it bigger when I did my initial set up. I saw your post and put it back to the original settings and the lag I was getting where the letters wouldn't appear for second or so stopped.

Now the phone keeps up with my while I text. Man that was annoying not seeing my text as I typed. Thanks!

Turning off "Documents and data" worked for me.

Settings > iCloud > Documents & Data > "Off"

I will try your suggestion turning off doc and data on iCloud but what are the doc and data?  Texts? Thank you!!

I am having a similar issue with it not recognizing certain letters on my key pad and the reset did not help me.

  I was having a problem with typing in a message, where the keyboard would lag, or seem to lock up and have to hit the same key twice in order for it to register.  Also, when I would hit the backspace key to erase, it would lag and then just start to erase my whole text!  ***!!!!

  Well, I figured out the problem!

  The problem is ZOOM.  I am such a fast typer that the iPhone 5s registered my typing as the three-finger-double-tap that you use to ZOOM the screen.  So, go to Settings, General, Accessibility, Zoom and turn Zoom off.

That worked for me.

So I turned off the thing in iCloud and it solved the problem everywhere except my internet browser. I found a fix. I downloaded opera mini in the App Store and it works better than ever!  Use that instead of safari.

Same issue, iPhone 5C on iOS 7.1.  I have already done a soft reset.  Tried reset all settings.  Made sure syncing of docs was off and have restored the iPhone.  No luck.

BTW, I have another 5C on iOS 7.1 that is working fine...go figure.

I am having the same issue. I have done everything you could think of and still nothing. I am also having a major issue with music lag. I mean, when I am listening to music, and try to use the controls via lock screen, there is at least a 5 second delay. Serious issue if I'm trying to drive and quickly change song.  But, if I am using headphones with a built in control, and I use the headphones controls, no lag. What's going on?

We tried everything including a full reset and restore from iCloud backup and still had several seconds delay with anything typed on the keyboard. It was finally fixed by simply:

Open “Settings” and tap on “General”

Tap “Reset” and then tap on “Reset Keyboard Dictionary”

okay i figured this out with out apples help, all you have to do is go to setting, general, reset, and rest the keyboard, i almost did a factory reset untill i tried that
