So I had this problem the whole day! Like the whole day.

I remotely wiped my phone because I thought it was stolen and I did not want the person to get my infomation from my phone. It turned out by friend took it by accident. No biggy, just figured I would sign in with apple ID and it would be okay.

Everything was okay. Except iMessage and it not wanting to activate.

Whe I say I tried everything on this thread, I MEAN EVERYTHING!!!

I was on the phone with Apple for two hours and the lady told me to try to go to a Starbucks and that maybe their network would open up the "clog" in the pipes.

Sure enough, I logged into the free Starbucks password and it worked right away.

Stuff I did that did not work:

Change DNS to 8.8.8.8

Airplane Mode

Reset Network Setting

Reset All settings

Reset all settings and content

Reboot from Itunes

Going to starbucks did the trick!!

I hope this helps somone out!

Turn off Cellular Data in Settings > Cellular and make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi, then go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. You’ll have to set up your connection again, but FaceTime and iMessage should now work.Read more: http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/ios-7-problems/#ixzz2rzdl3wm1

I had this problem along with push notifications not working in some apps (message something like - Cannot connect to ITunes so push notifications are disabled). Following the apple support suggestions above I realised I did not have an alternative email account registered. Adding one and verifying it was all I needed to solve both problems.

Hope this helps some of you.

here is something to try for the desperate ones. i havent read the whole thread so i dont know if somebody already posted this, BUT ive been trying to activate my imessage/facetime for 4 WHOLE MONTHS and couldnt find out wht the F i did wrong. i was close to throwing out my phone bc it frustrated me so much.

now, i went to another thread and found out it had to do with my phone number on my apple ID. go check if you really put your iphone number in the MOBILE field. (i only had it in my "home number" field).

i deleted it there and put my number ONLY in the mobile line.

it took about a day for apple to check it but about 10min ago, i received a message from apple it ACTIVATED. omg. i cant believe it and am the happiest iphone user now.

it may not help EVERYbody here, but perhaps a few.

good luck, and dont give up 😉

I tried just about every single proposed fix in this thread and nothing worked.

Called Apple Support to hear what they had to say...they recommend that I perform a backup and a complete restore of IOS on my iPhone and then restore my backup.

I was skeptical but really had no choice since all other options were exhausted and if I wanted any further help from Apple Support.

Guess what? It worked and I was able to activate iMessage and Facetime.

Why this makes sense? I don't know. At this point, I'm just happy it worked.

I tried all methods discussed above, didn't work. Finally it comes to the final solution, which I really hate to use it. Connect ur phone to ur computer iTunes, back up your phone on ur computer, it will take about 30 minutes, after it has been done, restore from your current back up ( 30 mins ago u just did). During the whole process ( back up and restore), u don't need turn off ur phone, it will automatically off and on. Just leave ur phone alone with iTunes about one hour, then iMessage and FaceTime will work. Make sure ur computer have enough space to back up your iPhone, for me it used 8 GB from my C:.

Good luck, restore is always the final solution which u may lose ur data on ur phone.
