I have this problem too, my iPad ok but iPhone 5 just says waiting for activation and is the same for FaceTime.
Wondered if there'd be a **** up with this upgrade.
Mines did something totally diff i have some weird # for my imessage an no matter what i do it wont use my phone number!!!!
+1 on this problem. 12 hours after activation, my phone no is still greyed out and my iMessages are sent from my ridiculous apple account. If people start mailing that account it will cause problems as I don't use it and don't intend to start
Here is the same, when they're gonna fix it ?
mine is the same, i have tried to rest my network settings and everything and still nothing am going to try plugging it into my laptop tonight when I get home and hope it works!!!
When is some c*nt from Apple actually going to aknowledge this problem and come up with some kind of fix?
Yes people, Woolfman's solution fixes the iMessage and Facetime issue!!! Hopefully everyone did a backup of your iPhone either using iCloud or your computer before running the iOS 7 update! All you need to do is make sure you have a backup of your iPhone, restore and delete all data from your iPhone (General>Reset>Delete contents and settings), then restore your iPhone from your backup.
i never done a back up or that before updating to ios 7 would i still be able to do this but use my last backup on my pc?
Have just done backup, complete erase and restore from iCloud and it seems to have fixed mine - asking me to reconfirm my mobile number on both iPhone and Macbook Air
Huzzah!
would you say better to back-up on icloud or from itunes?
Hi
how did you manage to activate?
After numerous attempts I fixed it by doing this:
Go to PRIVACY/LOCATION SERVICES/SYSTEM SERVICES/SET TIME ZONE and toggle it on. IMessage worked perfectly after that. Hope it helps you
I wish you were right. I did that exactly and it still doesn't work.
Just to let some know my facetime and my imessage would not activate last night before I ugraded. I don't know what happened but it finally corrected itself and haven't had an issue yet since I upgraded overnight. go to general/time and date and try turning off the set automatically and then turning back on. After that go to your imessage in settings and turn it off and back on to try and reactivate. Mine has had problems before upgrade.
Go to GENERAL/DATE AND TIME and make sure it setup your time zone correctly
I'm with the couple or so guys who probably rightly say that Apple's servers are pretty overloaded right now. I think trying later today rather than resetting everything multiple times (which let's face it has been pretty much reset already after upgrading to iOS7). Maybe a simple power off/on will do the trick. Failing that, I'm going to try the same in the morning. It's taken me until 12pm today to even get iOS7 onto my phone, it wouldn't let me download it yesterday afternoon/evening, gave me a 45 hour estimated download time. There's always good old SMS in the meantime, and fussing over it not working won't make it work any quicker
