Sep 30, 2013 7:01 PM in response to Skimparooby dissatifieduser,I agree with you. I too went to the apple store and was told the same. I did it and everything worked. He blamed it on everyone trying to download at the same time, corrupted the system. Restore works.

Oct 1, 2013 4:12 PM in response to 05am4by robkurzd,I am in the same boat. I am a Verizon customer. I am overseas and purchased a microsim for data. iMessage worked fine until I upgraded to iOS 7 and now it cannot activate iMessage. I have tried everything you have tried including using the Verizon microsim in while doing all of the above.
I think you might be on to something with the proxy. Perhaps being in another country and needing the proxy for a US cell phone number is the case.
Perhaps being able to send a text message out for iMessage is the case.
People, please keep coming up with suggestions!
- Location services on
- Time on Auto
- Tried Erasing device and activating
- Cleared network settings

Oct 2, 2013 1:58 PM in response to Seanm85by JSoapy,I'm in the same boat. Got an iPad 3 and imessage isn't working after latest software update. It wants me to login then states it can't verify. Check my network settings. Tried all of the fixes apart from a complete restore and back up (bit wary of doing that). None work. It appears Apple are now admitting there is a problem. I'm a new convert to Apple but they are not impressing me so far.

Oct 2, 2013 3:41 PM in response to Seanm85by WeAreMcCammoni,I have the ipad3 it has 3G (LTE) ...I didn't want to do the whole reset thing so I took it into my Verizon store. He tried everything and nothing worked, so he did the backup and restore. I was really worried, but I didn't even have to reinstall any of my apps they were all there even though I don't back up their data on icloud. The reset worked thank goodness, now when I go to imessage and facetime the apple id that I signed in with is already there its not asking for it and then rejecting it like it was before. My biggest worry was that I would have to reinstall all the apps that weren't data backed up and I didn't so yay for me. Plus I just wasn't comfortable pulling the trigger, but the verizon guy was more than happy to do it for me! Oh well at least its working and I can love my ipad again!!! I then installed ios7 on my phone with absolutely no glitches at all!!!

Oct 5, 2013 4:44 AM in response to Seanm85by rooseveltfromalbuquerque,Having.the same issue on my IPad, it appears to be internal to the device, ie.. Not a server or password issue, you can enter any password . You don't get an incorrect username or password setting, you get a network error. Tried network settings reset several times to no avail. Complete restore I guess is next

Oct 5, 2013 5:36 AM in response to 05am4by 05am4,I need to ask this, my iPhone is not sending hidden text messages to activate iMessage and FaceTime (it used to and iMessage was working before), and I checked that I can send international messages. Any ideas?

Oct 5, 2013 7:52 AM in response to 05am4by William Donelson,I have had to reset network 3 times now, but only once every 2 days or so. So that is a temp fix for now...
Settings, General, (bottom of page) Reset, Reset Network Settings
this does it for me every time. Remember to turn your WiFi back on after it reboots.

Oct 5, 2013 11:24 AM in response to William Donelsonby 05am4,Thank you for your reply, but as I wrote here https://discussions.apple.com/message/23233592#23233592 I've tried resetting network settings and nothing changes, I keep wondering, is it my device? or is it me carrier? (I don't think so because it was working before), or is it just something wrong with the service that will get fixed?
Apple said the iOS 7.0.3 will fix an iMessage issue, but I understand it has nothing to do with activation!

Oct 5, 2013 11:26 AM in response to 05am4by 05am4,I also put another carrier's sim in my iPhone, still no hidden messages, so I don't think there is a block or so.

Oct 5, 2013 12:07 PM in response to 05am4by noddywa,I am frustrated as ****
Come on Apple - fix the problem with a patch or update
Sick of waiting and trying to resolve this problem.
Have tried many of the suggestions - none worked for me.

Oct 5, 2013 12:54 PM in response to Seanm85by JSoapy,Update to my previous post. Bit the bullet and did a full restore to iCloud. It worked of sorts. I now have iMessages working now. But I lost my music and lots of my pictures (for now). I'm working away from home so can't get to my iTunes. Hopefully when I log back into my own computer I will be able to recover my pictures and music. Good luck to everyone and hopefully Apple will get there finger out. I think I will wait for a few weeks before I do another Apple update. I'm sure they are using as guinea pigs.

Oct 8, 2013 5:03 AM in response to Seanm85by Indy_l,Hey guys, I also had the same problem and tried everything but I turns my iDevice off and turned it back on and singed in and it worked. I don't know if it worked for only me but it may help a few of your problems.
