Oct 30, 2013 4:41 PM in response to Seanm85by digby90,I'm not sure whether Larryfilm on page 33 fixed my problem or Pilotgal99 on page 34 or maybe a combo of both. I recently found out my wife had changed the date and time on her phone to get more games in candy crush and when I corrected the time and date and then followed Larry's advice, it was back up and running again!
Thanks guys!

Nov 1, 2013 5:18 PM in response to kat.torontoby gee38l,+1 I have officially given up
No response for over a week from the apple engineers
The more i spend time trying things to resolve it i want to throw my phone at the wall
Whats even more annoying that my friends/colleagues sometime try and message me and it fails thinking im still on imessage so 80% of the time i never receive the messages

Nov 1, 2013 5:50 PM in response to gee38lby gee38l,I have some log files from imessage/facetime activation which i have no idea how to read if anyone thinks they could make some sense out of them im happy to show you so please message me... Maybe we can get an idea of whats going on and a resolution before apple engineering decide to actually take a look

Nov 1, 2013 8:45 PM in response to Seanm85by Chatajack,@ gee38I Please post the log files. We can see if they match anything that any of the rest of us have.
@ kat.toronto I have the same phone, so you are not the only one, I also upgraded to 7.0.3!! When did you notice it started? I noticed when was still on 6 and updated as I was told it would fix the issue.
Unfortunately there are a lot of red herrings out there. Yup it could be a date & time issue or and update issue or a carrier issue but so many different carriers seems unlikely. Is it locked phones or unlocked phones. I for one have an Apple factory unlocked phone, does that make a difference?!! It is not isolated to one continent or the other from what this chain indicates. Therefore it must be an Apple issue. My guess; is its an Apple script issue that is affecting batches of phones. That is why somethings have worked for some phones and not others.
I am very frustrated by this issue, but with the competion being so strong 'out there' I think that we will find that Apple is all over it in the 'back' - when will the fix come ? who knows!! Figures crossed soon!! as my phone bill is out of this world.
Keep sending ideas in. I am trying them all. Good to know that I am not the only one
Lets see if stats will help show something up if anyone is keeping track!

Nov 4, 2013 10:39 PM in response to gee38lby mikehuebner_,So reading through your log, you are getting a status of -1 which usually means the data is unrecoverable. Usually coming from the server, not your phone. There is nothing wrong with your phone, it is something the server is sending you that is not being read properly. From what I can tell, it isn't getting an Apple ID from you, but I could be missing something as I did not format the log I just read it right on the screen. I would try fixing your time, as daylight savings time just hit for some states it could've messed up on your phone. Reseting it might work, or something similar to do with time. I've had this problem with Amazon servers in the past, that is why I'm guessing that is the issue.

Nov 5, 2013 11:30 AM in response to Seanm85by Kendrafromnl,Same happen to my iPad 2 when i downloaded iOS 7 but my iPhone 4 worked perfectly
Its says it cant activate "check network and try again" something like that Any one know how to fix this?
-
Nov 6, 2013 7:37 AM in response to Kendrafromnlby buragc,I followed this forum and tried everything but nothing has worked until I came up with my own solution! I am sharing it in case it works for others.
I was able to fix this issue after two days of "waiting for activation".
Here is my guess of what is causing the problem:
- Your phone tries tell iMessage server that it should activate your number.
- Based on where you live (region/country) your request gets picked up by different servers (UK vs US vs France for example).
- The server that picks up the request sends a text message to your phone to confirm that the number really belongs to you. Depending on which server has been assigned to you, you may be getting the text message from a different country code.
- Your iPhone monitors the text messages that come in. When the iMessage activation text message comes in your iPhone doesn't show you that message.
What we are trying to do with the fix below is to tell iMessage to use a different server to send your activation message.
Go to Settings > Messages
Tap on your apple id.
When prompted enter your apple id and password.
Change your location/region (I changed it from US to UK).
Go back and now everything should be working fine!
Don't forget to change your region back to US afterwards.
