iPhone 5 "Could Not Activate iPhone" iOS 7

At least you guys get that far. My phone is dead as a brick after uploading ios7.

Release day is usually a terrible idea for any OS whether it is iOS, OSX or Windows; too many users trying to access the databases.

You would think Apple would learn from the experience.

They need to consider staggering update releases by device or time zone.

I updated my iPhone 4s to ios 7 and it told me to restart the phone so i did so and it updated. My iPhone turned on and i needed to activate it but i wont activate.. it keeps saying "Your iPhone cannot be activated because the activation server cannot be reached. Try again later" I keep trying and been trying for 3 hours and i NEED my phone by tomorrow early morning. i am very worried. what should i do?

They can stagger all they want, that does not mean the people are going to stagger their downloads. I am sure each time zone had massive downloads and activations around the time when people got home from work.

All you can do is keep trying to activate until it connects.

me also i have the same problem for the activation. i cannot use my phone right now, i'm stuck with this activation message. i did a lot of restart still nothing happens. grrrrrrrrrr!

They could stagger it by device, first day iphone, next day iPad, next day iPod.

Or spend money for extra servers. To cut off iphone users for hours is stupid.

This is bad business by Apple and needs more thought before the next release.

This is actually ridiculous. I'm having the same exact problem but with a brand new iPod 5. I've been trying to activate for over an hour now and it seems like its getting worse. It tells me to try again after only half a second of trying to activate... boo

Hello Everyone

My suggestion is to just keep trying. There's no trick to this. Restarting may or may not help. But one thing is for sure, Apple servers are busy keeping up activating iPhones.

I'm one of the lucky ones that tried for about half an hour and got my phone activated.

It's still a surprise to me that people get frustrated everytime Apple releases an iOS upgrade. If you guys are a long time iPhone user, this should not come as a surprise to you and anticipate the demand. If your phone is something that you use for business or cannot be disconnected for a long time then you should probably waited a day or two for the upgrade.

Just keep trying guys. Best of luck to everyone.
