AirDrop showing the wrong name and picture with iOS 7

I had the same problem

When I airdrop to my girlfriend, it was showing my brother,a name on her phone (he is on the same Apple ID/iCloud account) we found that the Apple ID email address was on my brother's contact info on her phone but not mine so it showed that it was coming from him. She deleted it from his profile and put it on mine and then it was fixed

That is exactly why. You both should have different Apple IDs. This will cuase problems with iMessage and FaceTime too.

It has somehow fixed itself for me. The 3 devices I've installed ios7 to now show up correctly in airdrop.

All my family's devices have different names and even accounts but they all on airdrop have my daughters name. I don't understand why!

It is very possible this stems from the high server activity due to the iOS 7 release. AirDrop still has to check and verify Apple IDs.

AirDrop uses contact info from your Contacts app.

The problem may be that your contact card and your wife's contact card share some of the same info (phone numbers/email addresses).

Give everyone their own Apple ID and add it to their contact information

Did she change her name on her Apple ID account?

You can share an Apple ID for iTunes purchases and have individual IDs for iCloud. They are completely separate logins.

how do you get seperate apple id accounts for each person?

The apple account is under my name, my email is the primary, I have my wife's email as an alternate email on my account, and my airdrop still shows her name and picture

I'm having the exact same problem!! It's driving me crazy!!!

We have no problems with FaceTime or iMessage...
