Why my iPhone 4 software not updating?

HI,

I tried using iTunes to do so on my iMac yesterday about 9 PM local time.

The listed time to complete just got longer and longer.

I left the computer running and went and watched some TV.

At about 12.30 I checked and it said it had failed.

I started today's attempt at 7.00 PM and it has been up to 8 hours and is currently showing 5 hours.

(51minutes approx running time)

I would guess the servers are busy.

Wow! I'm in the UK too.

Started mine, (full d'ld using iTunes), at about 6 o'clok this morning on a 2.3 meg connection and it took about an hour.

It's on a 4 and for thse wh are wondering it's slight;y slower than iOS6 but still fine. iTunes didn't recognise it first time around so had to restore it again but seems cool now.

It appears Apple’s download servers are ‘overwhelmed’ yesterday. I couldn’t download the newest iTunes update or IOS 7 and there are a lot of discussions today about not being able to download. One poster said they had chatted with App Store support who confirmed the problem.

I'd leave it overnight if the connection was that slow. I quite like iOS7 but I'm an idiot who just loves new things. In a couple of days I'll probably hate it.

Fibre service here at 30Mbps.

It's just the Apple end that is slow.

EDIT.

In the few mins since my last post it has only reduced to reading 27 Mins.

I think that Apple should pay for us to get new updated phones like the latest version of the iPhone
