iPad 2 iOS 7 update error 4013

So I was updating my boyfriend's iPAD and while updating it stopped and gave me a typical error message but with error 4013. It worked fine before and is now stuck in the "connect to itunes mode" recovery mode. I have tried updating and no luck. I have even tried updating in DFU mode and no luck. Anyone git any solutions?

Almost the same approach. Apple said to uninstall iTunes and other software. Here is link: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923?viewlocale=en_US However, I was not able to delete some of the remanent files (I am using Windows 8). Decided to reinstall iTunes and tried, unsuccessfully, to restore the iPhone.

So I went to my laptop that didn't have iTunes installed. Installed iTunes there. Was then able to restore the iPhone as a new phone. Then went back to my desktop and iTune was able to connect to my iPhone. I was then able to restore the phone from an earlier backup. After phone resynced apps, photos, and other data back again.

Didn't get an explanation from Apple as to why this was a problem in the first place. Upgrading to iOS 7.0.1 went fine last week. This upgrade to 7.0.2 not so much.

Hope this helps.

my english isn't good, but I will try to explain my success. I get several time the 4013 error. Ok, my System is iPod touche and Windows 7. When iTunes try to transfer the iOS7, the iPod wait 2 minute and I get the error 4013. But I hear the connection sound. I mean the sound, when you connect a device with your PC over the USB interface. Now my solution: (IT WORKS FOR WINDOWS7)

1. I start the recovery Process again.

2. The iPod shows me the apple icon with the progessbar.

3. I hear the sound, when you disconnect an USB device.

4. I start the DEVICEMANAGER

- right mouse click on "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" - The driver start with an exclamation mark sign it means the driver doesn't work.

5. select UPDATE DRIVER

6. Press searche on your machine for drivers

7. Select the following path

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers

8. Select the following file

usbaapl64.inf

After it, I see the progressbar change. Now my iPod touche works well.

Hi Guys,

after many hours I solved the problem in my iPhone4 while upgrading to iOS 7.0.2 and where I got stuck in "Waiting for iPhone" progress bar in iTunes. I was just reading and trying to follow the steps upward from user "testi schlaui". But I did something different before. I went to Device Manager in Control Panel, searched the Applicable Mobile Device USB driver under Universal Serial Bus Controllers tree option and I updated the driver again pointing to the CORRECT DRIVER VERSION in my file system. Then I opened iTunes 11.1, detected my iPhone4 in Recovery Mode and started the restore action again.

I had several previous installation and ghost installations of iTunes 8, 9 , 10 and 11.1, and two different folders in Program Files and Program Files (x86). I just searched the USB driver under the folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support" (which I knew was the most recent install dir) and it loaded the correct driver version of the Applicable Mobile Device USB driver. I repeated the restore action in iTunes 11.1 connected to iPhone4 in Recovery Mode and it worked!! If that doesn't work try to follow the steps from "testi schlaui" above.

Now I understand why in previous posts people stated that removing FULLY all previous installations of iTunes also solved the problem, and also why doing it in another computer with no previous iTunes also worked. It was solely because of "ghost" drivers and registry entries which cause compatibility problems.

I use Windows 8 Pro , iPhone4, while updating to iOS 7.0.2.

I had the issue on my 4 day old 5S. I believe the original problem was caused by a clash between an iOS update and my restore I was running to import all my settings from my old 4S.

I tried the following:

Standard restore via resetting the iphone.

Restore using iTunes on my Win 7 64bit PC at home.

Restore using DFU mode on my home PC after reinstalling iTunes (which was already the latest version)

None of this worked.

I then tried it on one of the Macs at work (running OS 10.8.5 and the latest iTunes) using DFU mode and it worked.

My advice to those of you stuck in a loop is definitely try restoring it on a different computer which doesn't have an iOS device paired with it.

I hope this helps

Hi guys! I resolved my problem.

I work at repair service for smartphone.... we had that problem with iPhone 5 same error 4013.

we tried original cable, several computer... everything!

But then I decided to replace the charging connector flex cable (I thought maybe the connection problem can come from there too-and it did!!) and that help!

So if you tried everything and it didn't help - try this.

send it to repair service and ask them to do that!

Let us know if it help 🙂
