If you didnt have the songs on the iPad before you updated but you purchased it, there is a feature enabled by default that shows all music. to turn it off go to settings/music/show all music-off. Otherwise, to delete music, swipe from right to left over what you want to delete
It's no longer possible to delete music/videos from their respective apps in iOS7. To remove music:
1) Find a PC/Mac
2) Install iTunes if it is not installed
3) Connect your device
4) Tell your device to trust the computer if it asks
5) Switch over to the device view
6) Browse to your music on the device
7) Delete it
Getting music off isn't as easy as putting it on but the swipe gesture now goes back in menus.
Here we go again! Apple removed this feature a few months back in IOS 6 and then reinstated it. It makes manageing iTunes match a total nightmare on an ISO device as you cant easliy remove music you are bored of from your device while it remains in your iTunes match cloud.
I found a way! You can't swipe to delete artists, albums etc., but if you swipe right to left (not left to right) on individual tracks or videos, that works. It's a pain in the *** if you have a lot of music but it's better than nothing.
Thank you, Sockatume. It's the opposite from iOS6, and I was so frustrated for like 2 minutes trying to figure it out.
Swiping from right to left doesn't work for all songs. It works for the songs I manually put on my device, but not for the default songs that came with the iOS7 update. Show All Music-off works for some of the songs but not all of them. This is so frusturating and no one seems to know the answer. Help!
It looks like a classic case of not or forgeting to adding bug fixes from a dot release (6.1) into the next gen software release (7.0). I would expect it will be reinstated in 7.1.
I tried connecting my iPhone 5 to my computer and it still won't let me delete songs off. iTunes won't let me accessy music stored on my iPhone 5 because I have iTunes Match enabled. Help? How do I delete songs off my phone?
Thank you!!!!!!!!
1.Go to Settings
2. Go to General
3. Go to Usage
4. Wait for Storage to load
5. Go to Music and swipe
6. Delete will pop up
7. Press Delete
This will delete ALL songs, but will not remove the music app.
There you go.
Thanks this helped a lot!
It worked except for the one stupid song I had tried deleting before. I hate that song. It was a free download that I can't get rid of no matter how hard I've tried and I'm at the point that not being able to get rid of is driving me nuts. I had swiped right to left pressed delete and now I get ... with a cloud and downward arrow on top. I've sync my phone with the computer and this song doesn't show up. It only shows up on my iphone. I have iPhone5 with ios7.
I don't want to delete ALL songs - just the ones that I thought I'd deleted 12 months ago.
Since it's probably only in iCloud and not downloaded to your phone, go in settings and turn ON show all music. Then go in your iTunes and next to the song you want to delete there should be a little cloud with an arrow. Touch it to download the song to your phone, then it will let you delete it. Then go back and turn OFF show all music in settings. Worked for me and I'm ecstatic. That one song was driving me nuts!
THANK YOU! Was so frustrated having to go into Settings>Usage and then deleting a TV episode that way rather than a simple swipe......not sure why it was necessary to change the direction of the swipe!
