Stuck at "Connect to iTunes" (error 4005)

Hey there!

I'm just quite tensed right now because I had downloaded iOS 7 through iTunes (Latest) and then hit the "Update" button, and then I could see the "Connect to iTunes" logo on my iPhone 5 and the message on iTunes read "updating iPhone" .... and that took about 5 minutes and after that I got an error "Cannot update the iPhone. Unknown error occurred (4005)" .... and since then my phone is stuck at the connect to to itunes sign ... I tried to hard reset it or take it to the recovery mode (Power + Home, release Power keep Home pressed), but nothing is happening... HELPP PEOPLE!!! User uploaded file

123Andy, Did you download TinyUmbrella from the link I provided? It should not have come with any other software and should not have any problem opening. I have not had either of those issues with it, so I unfortunately don't know what to tell you. The other option is to download the latest version of R-e-d-s-n-0-w (without the hyphens. Apple will automatically pull this post if I spell that out), open it, go to "Extras" and select "Just Boot". This does the same thing as TinyUmbrella. Good luck! I can't post the links for it either or Apple will yank this post right away. Apple, why are you adverse to people getting help when they're having issues with their iDevices? If you have a fix for this problem of stuck on connect to iTunes screen, then please give it to us. But don't keep yanking my posts. I'm just trying to help people with a solution that helped me.

Hi Guys!

So i plugged my ipad into my lap top. All i was trying to do was transfer some pictures. Yet it directed me to i tunes. With in minutes, i was following directions on how to update & restore & get the latest version of ios 7.03.2 or something like that.

Now it didnt work & it didnt work a few days ago when i had tried it on just the i pad alone either. But I thought that maybe since i was hooked up through a bigger system it would work.

Nope but thats ok, because i didnt really want to do that, too begin with. Anyways after a few buttons clicked & i ok'd a few go aheads, my i pad screen went blank & then popped up this, " Connect to I tunes logo " It has a picture of my plug, with an arrow pointing it to the i tunes logo!!!!!

What the F_ _ _ ???? Now my system is stuck. It wont do anything else. Ive tried holding the main power button down for long periods of time. Ive tried holding everything down at the same time. I've tried plugging it back into a power source. Nothing is working. It will turn all the way off & the logo plug thing goes off with it.

But when i turn it back on, it just comes right back to the same screen " CONNECT TO I TUNES " SCREEN. Please help me!!!!! What the **** do i do? Does my i pad have a virus or something now? Am I screwed?

I found the solution. The trick is to plug it into any apple computer (directly of course; not into the monitor, but into the actual computer) running the latest version of iTunes. The computer will detect the phone even if your windows computer doesn't and will download an update (for me, it downloaded 6.1.4, even though the update was for 7.0.4). However, once the download completes, it will say that it could not install the update and the phone simply returns to working normally, and nothing is lost. Again, the phone completely returns to normal operation. If you really want to download this update, either do it from an apple computer, or just do it using wifi.

I have the same issue today when updating on my PC for ios 7..... all of a sudden my iPhone is frozen with the same screen everyone else is experiencing.

My computer iTunes insists my phone is in recovery mode and insists the only way is to Restore it. I'm not ready to lose all my contacts and photos and books.. and...

I tried to plug into another USB port, this didn't solve. My computer and iTunes is supposedly updated to latest.

Please help.

I only plugged in my iPhone today to my computer to charge it.

Please help.

The phone won't even accept calls. It's basically dead!

I am having the same 4005 error issues.

My ipad screen was cracked from my kids dropping it and banging it against thier head. I don't have alot of money and haven't had the money to replace the screen. So my son opened some koolaid and a little got into the cracks and of course he didn't tell me and then he plugged the ipad in and boom tons of issues and then the ipad shut down, so I let the battery go dead. I plugged it in the next day and it charged but I was only getting the apple on a black screen. So I went online and did some research and found out how to put it in recovery. But now I am getting the 4005 error. I have tried putting the cord in different usb ports but still get the same error. My MIL has an apple computer so I might take some of the suggestions and go plug it in her computer. I am so frustrated, the ipad charges, the computer recognizes it, the touch screen works still, but I can't get it beyond 4005 and I can't afford to buy another ipad, and the ipads are great for kids with autism which my son has.
