Dec 25, 2013 8:55 AM in response to Richs79by random1kat,I had the exact same problem. I was trying to reset my phone because I got the new one but had forgotten my restrictions code and couldn't go the normal route. After looking at some other forums, I found I person that suggested using the findmyiphone app. If you go on your computer or on another phone and login you can erase your phone settings. This bypasses the restrictions code and it worked for me. I hope this helps

Dec 29, 2013 2:06 PM in response to Richs79by Uare2great,Instead of using the trial version of ibackupbot I used this http://www.apowersoft.com/free-online-iphone-ipad-ipod-transfer free application. The passcode has been reset according to earlier posts just fine. Thanks all for the help.

Dec 29, 2013 2:15 PM in response to Richs79by PhilipRoy,Can you go to : icloud.com and login in with your apple id and password from there you should be able to go to 'find my device' clicking on the specific device you are having the issue with you then can click on the area that reads 'erase device' once doing this that should take care of the issue with find my device and restrictions issues.
As far as the contacts and calendars that are stored in icloud as long as you use the same apple id with the icloud account all of the mentioned data is still store in icloud.

Jan 2, 2014 10:44 AM in response to timfrommonctonby Alberto924,Would probably work if it was just the restrictions password you've forgotten but if you can't turn off find my iPhone you can't restore which leaves you back at the start. Very much appreciate the tip though I've been reading it alot but yours made actual sense. A question though...IS ANYONE AT APPLE READING ANY OF THESE FORUMS?

Jan 4, 2014 9:44 AM in response to Richs79by brandiatl,I also had the same issue and agree with others stating that we all could not have miraculously forgotten our passcodes. I certaintly never set a restrictions passcode given: 1) I am the sole user of my phone and 2) I am an adult. I erased my phone via iCloud and set up as a new phone, although I'm tempted to restrore using a backup which means I'll need to test out the "recovery" procedures listed early on in this discussion. Anyone have any luck with "recovery"? This definitely has to be something Apple must have inadvertantly built-in.

Jan 4, 2014 9:45 AM in response to brandiatlby TJBUSMC1973,Nope, nothing they built-in. You set up a passcode and forgot it. That's all that happened.
Restore the device using the appropriate article: iOS: Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong ...

Jan 4, 2014 10:57 AM in response to TJBUSMC1973by Jomigo,Not entirely true. There is something strange going on with this function.
I was locked out of the "restrictions" and used the restore function as described by many here to change the code to 1234. I was able to access the restrictions page with the 1234 and I changed it to "Disable Restrictions"...it required me to enter 1234 one more to to confirm and it worked, but only for about 1 minute. While I was still in the "general" section, in front of my eyes I saw the "Restrictions" go from OFF to ON, without any input from me. I tried to enter the restrictions page with 1234 (which worked just 1 minute earlier mind you), and it was the wrong passcode. I had to do the whole restore crap over again, choosing 1234 as the passcode
This time having just watched it change before my eyes I assumed it was making some connection with Apple or iCloud to reset the Restrictions to ON, I immediately turned on Airplane Mode to prevent it from connecting. I entered the Restrictions sections with 1234. While still in Airplane Mode, I disabled restrictions, and then re-enabled Restrictions using my own passcode (not 1234 of course ). I turned off Airplane mode.
This was two weeks ago and today it is still holding the new passcode I chose and not reseting to something from the cloud. I don't have the urge to try and disable restrictions again as I do not want it to reset to something I do not know, so am content leaving it ON with a passcode I know.
Definitely something strange going on here and Apple should check it out.

Jan 4, 2014 11:21 AM in response to TJBUSMC1973by brandiatl,I won't be a jerk as you're opting to be but must state that I have no idea who you are nor do you know who I am. I, not you, live my life and know for certain of what my "personal" actions have or have not been.

Jan 5, 2014 10:47 AM in response to gilsonmeloby brandiatl, gilsonmelo,
...just wanted to say thanks for sharing. This worked for me with a slight modification...I changed the 'integer' tag beneath "SBParentalControlsFailedAttempts" to a 'string' tag. It wasn't until this change (after 7 failed attempts) that the backup to consider the "1234" passcode was successful.
Additionally, to anyone having issues after making this change, you may have made the same error that I made...you must delete the "SBParentalControlsCapabilities" key and the entire array immediately beneath (including string tags).

Jan 5, 2014 5:55 PM in response to hawkeyextby crazbet1,if you forgot your restrictions passcode the way to reset it is you will need
a old iphone. Then go on itunes and back up your iphone ( the one you forgot
the restrictions passcode) then restore it. after reset your old iphone and put your
other iphone's backup in it. Note: put your pictures in your pc's doc's or a folder in your pc.
after setup ur iphone and don't put your apple id on it.Then connect your iphone to the pc and import ur pics
and then copy ur contacts from your old iphone or import ur contacts to your iphone. And there you go.
Hope this works for you
