Q: Any way to turn off iOS 7 navigation animations?

The zoom animations everywhere on the new iOS 7 are literally making me nauseous and giving me a headache.  It's exactly how I used to get car sick if I tried to read in the car.

How do I turn them off?  Do I have to revert to 6?

+1...dislike this feature of ios 7... it is slow and I find myself recoiling from the screen.. the feeling does remind me of motion sickness..

the sooner this feature can be disabled or accelerated the better...

look forward to some responsiveness on this one apple

Having seen other forums like macrumors.com, where many are saying the same thing. Hopefully Apple, does something fast.

I still just don't get how this zooming got through beta. Everybody that worked on it, at the top could not have been, yeah this constanst zooming with the color palette is a great idea.

Yes I agree. I hope Apple don't ignore all these messages. It's appalling and I for one suffer with labyrinthitis! It looks like windows 95. All this kitsch antique stuff has gone too far as well. Zooming isn't attractive and it takes longer to do everything. Really disappointed and feeling sick!

One More here. I don't like the overall design but I could live with it, if i wouldn't get Sick using iOS7.

I've had to make the font bold and bigger and reduce the brightness to mitigate the "vibration" effect of the horrible default fonts.

My phone now looks like an old persons or kiddie phone with big fonts and bright colours.  I no longer feel professional when I take my phone out. I have 20/15 vision and amazing acuity but I have to enable multiple accessiblity low vision options to not get headaches.  My email shows half the text it used to on iOS6,  I'm processing email half as fast.  The big fonts also cause problems with notifications and other popups since some of the text is often hidden.

I see a lot of people saying they like the overall design of iOS7 but basically the awful font choices make this a train wreck for me.  Even if a "turn off zooming" option becomes available, I'm still stuck with essentially a half size screen because of the size of the text shown.  Increasingly, apps will follow Apple's design lead and one by one my apps will also become unusable unless they follow Apple's accessiblity options (many don't).

Yesterday I found out from my employer that they will pay for a phone.  I'm going to get an Android and switch to that as my primary device.  I'll keep my iPhone for development and wait and see if they fix iOS7.

What I need is new heavier weighted fonts *and* the zooming turned off.

I'm still dumbfounded at why they picked a thin weighted font and added useless animations.  It makes no sense from a design or a usability standpoint.   It's almost like this UI was designed for print,  like the user interface mockups we used to get from designers in the 90's.

I thought that it was just me, but am (sort of) glad to see that I'm not alone.

I can't look at IOS7 very long.  It gives me a pounding headache, even after turning off the faux 3D.

When turning on iOS7, is there a way to disable the icons from flying onto the screen?  it's disorienting.  I've enabled reduce motion but it doesn't help.

I think you should apple know about this. Write them at www.apple.com/feedback, so they can see

I have left feedback about the zooming and fonts.  I called customer support, was escalated and the escalations specialist told me "you upgraded at your own risk" and that he would "talk to engineering about it".

I'm not holding out hope here despite the thousands of dollars I've invested in iPhones, apps and iTunes.  Apple is famous for turning their back on markets and users; I think, for the first time, they just turned their back to me.

My greatest fear is that this design "aesthetic" will make it's way into Mac OS X as well ... that would be far more problematic.

The other thing that this drives home ... I'll never, ever upgrade to an Apple x.0 release ever again.  For any product.  They have abused my trust.

I guess I am a little confused. Did you have problem with the zooming in iOS 6. I just tested out the animation in iOS 6 and it is exactly the same, it just comes from the center of the screen. Please let me know if you had the problem in iOS 6, if not what do you think is different that is causing the problem?

I'm sorry, but I don't get how this is such a hot topic.  I have had zero such issues and of the many people with whom I've discussed iOS 7, none of them have as well.  I don't doubt that some of these complaints are legitimate (and my apologies to those who are truly suffering) but the fact that this forum has been overwhelmed with such complaints, along with the fact that this has gotten so much press coverage, makes me wonder if some of this hasn't been planted by Apple's competitors.

jefffromwilliamsport it is getting this much discussion becuase the people it impacts (or their advocates like me, trying to find solution for my spouse) find their phones unusuable all of a sudden and are doing anything they can to find a solution. Just because it doesn't impact you doesn't mean it is a conspiracy.

Fact is some combination of the various visual effects are making people feel ill. While it doesn't impact me (only my wife) I still find them to be uneeded UI fluff making the phone appear slow and unresponsive. But then again, I notice the delay they added when waking the phone from sleep. It now fades in instead of just turns on. Pointless.

Have you read the actual posts in this thread? Most if not all people who complain are intensive users, certainly not Apple haters. The press coverage probable comes simply from the fact that Apple (the same company who wrote the Human Interface Guidelines they no longer seem to follow) isn't known to mess up its GUIs this way --- nor to heed customer feedback to any particular extent ...

Oh please.  Check out my history.  I've been using Apple products for years and have had this account since before the iPhone had competitors or even *existed*.

You and me both.  I had no such problems with any previous iOS at all,  the headaches and nausea took me completely by surprise. I have had problems with certain computer games and I get instant headaches if I try to watch somebody else play FPSs.

I've actually come to believe it's the fonts that are a big part of my problem.  The bolding and resizing seems to have helped a lot, at least moving all my apps out folders and looking away during switching didn't make the headaches go away completely.  Unfortunately the big fonts make the phone's screen size even smaller and, as I said early, make the phone look like the Mickey Mouse Watch version of a smart phone.
