Q: Any way to turn off iOS 7 navigation animations?

The zoom animations everywhere on the new iOS 7 are literally making me nauseous and giving me a headache.  It's exactly how I used to get car sick if I tried to read in the car.

How do I turn them off?  Do I have to revert to 6?

So I can see Apple has their usual fans who come out and tell us the shop-worn "you're using it wrong". Well if 15% of iOS users are alienated from the platform because of this, that's probably 80 million people going over to Android & Windows.

I've been having the same issues of motion sickness too.

It's amazing to see responses from people who think this is ridiculous. Makes you think how they respond to criticism - saying it's a non-issue, it's stupid or it's your problem.

Maybe this is why iOS7 got out the way it is without an option to disable it, or even an option to go back to iOS6.

The thing is if I just bought this product, I would have had the option of returning it.

If you don't have a problem with the zoom effect then why are you on this thread? Classic bully: too dumb to follow the argument and too unempathic to understand that this is a real problem...for others. Get it?

Alright, for those who don't care to read the thread but post anyway, here are some facts for you:

    1) it is not the parallax effect (at least not fully) that causes the nauseous feelings but instead, the zooming in and out of apps is most likely the culprit

    2) just because you don't have any of these problems with it doesn't mean others arent suffering through this tragic update. There is only a small amount of the population affected.

    3) doesnt matter what device you are on, if it has ios 7, its causing problems

    4) as of right now there is no way to "turn off" the animations that are making people sick (but we are all hoping that its coming in a future update)

    5) and finally, for those who have not yet updated to ios 7: if you suffer from vertigo or migraines, you should wait until an update comes to allow the disabling of the animations because once you update there is no going back. Better safe than sorry.

My wife upgraded to ios7 while I'm still using ios5. She's getting sick, I can't even work with her phone for too long, it's so unpleasant to use while my iphone 4 w ios 5 is as good as always.

We are shopping for another phone now, maybe that's the end of apple products for us.

It seems that apple doesn't care about the consumers at all.

    BTW

When will she be able to see subway stations on the map in NYC?

Not soon enough I guess, cause she's already shopping for another phone, one with google maps that work.

I have problems as well. This effects annoys me and, sometimes, provoke the effect like reading in a car.

Please provide an option to disable this zooming

There are so many Users unhappy with iOS 7 that if all of these write Apple how they see and (dis)like the new iOS they maybe will react. Since Apple does not supervise this Forum directly you can write to them through www.apple.com/feedback

Believe me, you are not alone with your opinion

I don't have any headache but why do we have to wait for a silly animation to finish in order to use the phone? Is this going to be Android or what?

Did anyone at Apple used the iphone 4 with IOS7 before releasing it? Let me tell you, it just doesn't work well! Quality was everything about Apple and with this update everything screams unfinished and silly decisions. I'm fine with the design but I've spent so much on the iphone because it was faster than other platforms on the market. Now I reached a point where the iphone is not fast and the experience is not pleasant enough.

for the 1,000,000th time that only turns off the wallpaper parallax, NOTHING will turn off the zooming animations.

I updated my iphone 4S to IOS 7 on the 18th of september. As I tried to use it I had suddenly motion nuisance so I went back to IOS 6.1.3 in a few hours because it was still possible. After a week when I saw the new apps having the new IOS 7 design I did the upgrade another time. I got the same motion sick and now I can't go back to IOS 6. Please Apple, give me the possibility to have IOS 6 appearance again!!

This is the help I got from Apple!!!

    Hello,

Thank you for writing to Apple.  At this time we want to ensure that you are aware of the current options to help reduce motion in iOS 7.

You can Reduce Motion, which turns off Parallax and limits the animations of other apps and icon badges, by going to Settings > General > Accessibility > Reduce Motion.

Additionally, you can Increase Contrast and enable Bold Text - some users have informed us that that has helped them reduce the perception of motion they encounter in iOS 7.

Apple is aware that some users may need additional motion control options. We do appreciate your feedback and will forward this information on to the appropriate people for review.

At this time, we cannot comment on when a possible solution will be made available.

I have been lucky as I had just bought my new phone and was able to return it and revert back to my Iphone4 which I have not upgraded.  I have a question if anyone can help me?  Because I updated the phone I returned on ITunes does that mean if I connect my Ipad or Iphone 4 to Itunes (both IOS6) I they will be automatically updated or do I still have a choice - any help appreciated!! :-)
