Q: Any way to turn off iOS 7 navigation animations?

The zoom animations everywhere on the new iOS 7 are literally making me nauseous and giving me a headache.  It's exactly how I used to get car sick if I tried to read in the car.

How do I turn them off?  Do I have to revert to 6?

It is "our" forum ( I never saud "my" as you imply) in the sense that it addresses an issue that is relevant to us. I wouldn't have gone to the "how do i use the camera" forum to discuss this issue. If you had a brain cell in your head, that should have been readily apparent.

You also made assumptions that all we did was come here without leaving feedback as well.

Perhaps if your original post had simply been, "Have you guys left feedback", THAT would have been productive and useful. But when you lead with using sarcasm and calling people whiners, and eventually somewhere in there saying go to feedback, then I really don't have the time of day for you.

I really love how you bully your way into a discussion and now that you've been called out, you're the one whining. Typical bully.

It's just the last gasp of the trolls realizing their game is coming to an end.

The thing that continues to amaze me is how the extreme capitalist view of "caveat emptor" has become "don't dare complain about corporations or even ask them to add a feature or option to the product".   It's kind of a chilling portent of the future.

Do you even read my posts? Why do you reply when you don't? More importantly thou, do read what YOU post? You say you welcome opinion but don't read my opinion.

If I disagree that automatically makes me a troll? I believe Apple call these discussions, and that's what I'm doing. I use sarcasm and call you whiners because you are. (Like I said in my previous post) If you don't enjoy a company's product then use an alternative. Simple solution isn't it?

I entered this DISCUSSION because I'm suddenly given the choice of short battery life or blandness and I want to know your motivations as to why you kept using it to the point that made you sick instead of stoping and moving on?

If you guys don't like animations and evolution then why use an iPhone? As I also mentioned before, WHY UPGRADE? They showed it months in advance and when they announced the 5s again. You chose to do it and now you complain about it. How stupid is that?

As for your meet up remark, I say grow up.

The best way to handle deviant posts is to ignore them completely ... after reporting them for being inappropriate, off-topic or any other qualifications that might apply ...

I'm not surprised that there are still cases of headaches being reported; in fact, I'd have expected that to be more frequent than apparently is the case. So much the better (though I myself will likely hold off on updating until a more subdued theme is brought back)

Ingore offender!  Some guys are always free to fight.  But don't know what they are fighting for?  For Apple?  May be not as Apple has changed to fit us!  And we are different type.  We fight for what we like!  And we get it!  That's it!  If those guys don't like the change from Apple, why not feedback to Apple?  You teach us, right?  Feedback to Apple and ask Apple to fall back please!  Try!  If you have point, Apple will fall back.

I will address this one last time.

You didn't enter this forum to discuss the issue. You entered the forum to riduclue and point your finger and laugh at those of us who had this concern. ""I guess none of you are sailors" and "What? you see stars the second you turn on your phone!" are not examples of adding to the topic, or aiding a resolution to the issue. You came here and provided unprovoked hostility.

Why did I download the upgrade? For the same reason everybody else did: we didn't anticipate a problem where none had previously existed (Do you call someone a moron who suddenly develops a food allergy, and only finds out when they've had their umpteenth peanut butter sandwich in their lives that they now have an issue??). And switch providers, just like that? We've already paid for THESE devices (because we LIKE them, obviously), and some of us are locked into contracts. It's not as simple - or necessary - to leave the ecosystem we're already part of, especially when a simple solution was right at hand.

humannwong has it right: I am not loyal to any one brand or provider. I obviously am interested in Apple's success, I am highly invested in their products and ecosystem. But if the product becomes less appealing or inferior for my purposes, I am happy to explore other options.

Mateash2002, the irony is that you are now a "whiner", just like the rest of us.

"I'm suddenly given the choice of short battery life or blandness?"

Well, if it's so "bland", then I suggest you sell your iPhone today and move on.  You read the terms and conditions of 7.0.3 that stated reduce motion was enhanced, didn't you?

And now that you've willingly upgraded to 7.0.3, you're complaining?  Well, sell your $500 phone immediately and stop whining about it.  Simple solution, isn't it?

Or you can start a new thread called "Any way to turn off iOS 7 blandness?" and hope you get 50,000 views and 600 replies.  And hopefully Apple will add an option to disable blandness in 7.0.4.

And don't worry, I won't visit your thread and troll around and make fun of you.

what does any of this gripping and whinnying and gnashing of teeth have to do with whether iOS 7.0.3 gets rid of the nausea issues for some people????

Geez I come here to find out what people's experiences are regarding the new update and all I can read is ***** ***** *****.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN WHAT THEIR EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN WITH THE NEW UPDATE?

    ARE YOU STILL GETTING SICK?

The update and "reduce motion" option solves the nausea problem for me.

Note that I accepted my own answer that said exactly that.  It's on the first page ...

Don't upgrade. If it ain't broke, and you like the layout of iOS 6, stick with it.

The nausea from zooming apps is resolved, but I still find my eyes disoriented by:

    - the blurry transitions in the camera (why is that even there??)

    - the weirdness of text messages. The way it is in iOS 6 is PERFECT as is.

    - the general gaudiness and brightness of the new design.

    - some new inconveniences, where none previously existed. (to put camera in grid mode, you have to go to settings, the general additional steps to listen to VM, etc.

If you have no imperative reason to upgrade, don't. If you already had problems with iOS 7, don't tempt fate. Borrow a friends iphone/pad for a bit, and experiment. If you like it AT THAT POINT (not from a youtube video, but from firsthand experience), then upgrade. Don't buy the cow if you're getting the milk, and all that.

I've reverted back to 6, and frankly, more people are checking out my phone and envying it rather than vice versa. I'm upset that I don't have some elements that 7 offers, but, really, I couldn't care less. I bought iPhones all along bc the design has always been perfect. I won't be in the market if the design from iOS 7 is the only option.

Yeah,  I'm going to have to go with adamdavid80 here.  I'm not a fan of the new UI.  I've had to dim the screen and bold my fonts.

Hey, another 2c, for this immense thread:

I updated and I like the new transitions (or old transitions), it doesn't bug my eyes anymore. I don't mind the overall appearance, it was just those app-open transition animations that were giving me headaches.

That said, my upgrade somehow failed the first time and reset my ipad mini to factory settings so I had to restore all my apps from the backup in iTunes.... which didn't include whatever media was on the iPad (music, books and movies). It's done this once before, when I updated from iOS 6 to some incremental upgrade of it. This is with latest iTunes and everything. Pretty annyoying, that.

7.0.3 did get rid of the nausea for me, so if you already have the 7, then definitely do the upgrade.  I can actually use my phone again!  (Though I did discover that with the combination of colors and fonts, I can't read the text when I'm wearing my contacts.)

But if you have iOS 6, keep it as long as you can.  It's both more elegant and more readable.  I'm so glad I kept my iPad on iOS 6, where it will stay.
