remote app rotation locked in portrait orientation after iOS 7 upgrade

I tend to use my iPad 2 exclusively in landscape orientation. After the upgrade to iOS 7 the Remote app that controls Apple TV from the iPad is stuck in portrait mode and I can't see a way to rotate it. Any thoughts?

Believe it or not, the feature may have been removed by Apple and this may be the way that they want it to work now. It has happened in the past. Do you remember when lyrics were available in the Music/iPod app ages ago?

Let Apple know how you feel about it or report it as a bug.

I am of the opinion that this is the way it is supposed to work now, but I could very well be proven wrong.

If you mean that your whole ipad view is locked, I was having the same issue. Go to settings-->General and it shows what to do with your side button. You can use it to mute or to control rotation and mine was set automatically for rotation. Switch that to mute and then swipe up from the bottom of your screen and the rotation option will now be located there.

Why did you post this now!? 🙂

Could have saved me a boatload of time. I tried everything within my limited scope of options; uninstall/install the app, factory default reset started from scratch, DFU mode to reload ios7. (try activating an ipad with overloaded servers, it has not alot of fun involved) All the apps rotate just fine.. But No. Not the remote app.. It is (was) a valuable app for me combined with the macmini as streaming audio playback at high bitrate.. If it's a bug, please fix it. If it's a feature, you lost one happy long-term customer. (that's about all the leverage a tiny gnome can get)

Can't imagine it's a bug, since it's been this way since the IOS7 beta. It made me step down from ios7 to ios6 during betatime. Thought it was an error, too bad this final version shows the same error. Can't go back to ios 6..

While we are at it; can you please give us Dutch guys a bit more band-width on the appstore? It's as slow as possible.

But for now;

Please hand us back our rotational freedom.

I am going to suggest it again. Send Apple feedback about this.

I really get the feeling that this is not an error or a bug and this is the way that Apple designed the Remote App to work in iOS 7. Until someone else contributes here and states that they can rotate the screen in the Remote App, I will continue to believe that the app was changed. Not all apps allow for screen rotation, but why Apple would change it - if in fact they did - is beyond me.

Send Feedback one way or the other.
