I tried cleaning it and still nothing, I've tried everything posted previously and still no luck. I'm open for any further suggestions.

You need to push the swab with alcohol into both side of your iphone dock connector at the bottom of the phone, then move from left to right, and one again on the other side....

My sound is still working after about 6 hours.  Held the home button and the power button together for a few seconds and shortly after got a text with sound.  Music and all other sounds now working. Fingers corssed.

Amazing Apple has a help Forum with no help from Apple at all. Rings Microsoft to me. Micro-relevant is what they have become. Careful Apple... Or this will be your future too. Steve Jobs head would explode over what's become of Apple since his death. PLEASE INNOVATE.... Stay sharp. LEAD!

Hi, just wanted to say that i am an iphone repair specialist,( mot affiliated with apple)...this problem people are having   is a hardware issue. meaning it is the programming. its not a physical part on the phone. what you did was you turned off your phone for over an hour, resetting it bringing back your sound. cleaning the dock connector did absolutely nothing, because your connector was already working fine, since it is a software issue it has no idea that u cleaned your connector. you cleaned it turned off your phone for a long time, turned it back on and it worked..,making you think it had something to do with cleaning the phone, when what actually fixed it was you turning it off for a long period of time, which i think is what you should be recommending to people.

which i wanted to add i had previously posted a recommendation with resetting the phone (pg.9). The key to the problem is software. the happened during the update, a file must be messed up when we update, making the phone think it is plugged in to a music dock. the solution will be found while resetting the phone, wether if its you resetting it 10 times, doing a hard re-start multiple times or turning it off for a long period of time like an hour, so that when you turn it back on it starts up normally... again.. i tried everything(that made sense, no spinning around 5 times) ..everything failed EXCEPT: I restarted it, then did a Hard Re-start and restarted it again, then i turned it completely off for a bit and when i restarted i had sound again. .. this is the only thing that will work, ignore airplay, calendar, cleaning, comments because you will only be wasting your time. Thanks for time, good luck.

I agree that when you leave it alone it restores . hard reset helps . I do that every now and than anyway

It is an annoying bug and it seems to be related to a certain amount of hardware family

My kids also have 4 S iphones and they dont have these issues .

I think apple will come up with a solution since it affects thousands of users .

I fully agree.  This was my experience too.  All the other fixes people are claiming to work are just

    coincidental I think.

We still need an Apple fix!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or a way to go back to the trusted iOS 6.1.3

Hi.  Experiencing the same problems as everyone else on my iPhone 4. Can I ask how you uninstall

iOS 7.0.2 and reinstall iOS 6.1.3?
