Open the Conrol Panel, select the AirPlay icon, and set it for your device (iPad, iPhone, iPod).

That solved the problem for me. Though why iOS 7 would default to AirPlay is beyond me.

Spoke too soon. Sound came back, lots of static, then cut out again. Rebooted once more (on/off button and home button). Got sound back. Still lots of static and seems to echo.  Also YouTube takes for ever to load. Can we revert back to ios6, I wonder?

I had the same issue on an iPhone 4 this morning. Appears in my case to have been caused when I docked my phone in an iHome clock radio that I have had and used for years. Got that lovely "this device not supported by this iPhone" message, which of courses was bs since I have used it for years. So rebooted my phone and sound came back till I docked again. Rebooted again and docked before I started the music and is working now. Looks like a reboot at least will provide a temp fix. My wife had the keyboard problem that others are experiencing. Looks like Apple needs to send a patch pretty quickly.

Hope this is my final report. Seems after multiple reboots (maybe 3 or 4?)  everything starts working properly. Sound is crystal clear and YouTube loads quickly. Have a great day, unless you have other plans!

You downloaded AirPlay ?? how is that ? As far i know the AirPlay is inbuilt in OS and it gets activated when there is any AirPlay supported device near by.

Had multiple sound problems. Tried rebooting, no resolution. This solution worked:

    1. Backup phone
    2. Reset to factory settings
    3. Start phone and choose restore from backup.

Takes about twenty minutes, depending on how many apps you have.

So I have had the same problem as everyone else. I have done multiple restores plus all the suggestions on here and then some and I have had no luck. I have even downgraded back to IOS 6 in dfu (restore) mode thinking this would definitely fix it unfortunately I still have no sound. It looks like a lost cause. IOS7 has killed my phone

    Hi everybody,

I also had this Problem with my IPad 2. My 4S worked fine though.

    This one fixed it:

Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

    Greets

I have an iphone 4s and am having the same problem. I installed ios 7 and now have no sound for anything. I have the volumn slider to be able to turn it up and down but nothing plays.

I have tried the following steps but with no luck: restart, reset device, uninstall sound cloud, reinstall ios 7.

I am able to use sound through a bluetooth headset.

I was also able to get sound to work temporaraly by restarting my iphone with headphones plugged in when it starts up. As long as they are left in the sound will work but once unplugged sound will turn off again and plugging them back in won't work without another restart.

this is definitley an os issue that apple needs to send a fix out for.

As I said, even I reinstalled the OS without restore data, the phone has no sound on text and music(and youtube on website). However sometime work.

This is compatibility issues with some hardware. I have 2 iphone 4s. one works fine, one has this problem.

Maybe we could tell apple our hardware ID or sth, allow them to check?

BTW, when I restore to IOS 6, there is no problem at all.
