I had the same problem with IOS7 on iPad 3. I solved this by deleting the Google YouTube app. (when I had originally installed YouTube app, I didn't grant it the permission to access microphone.)

I had the same problem - went in to the apple store in Glasgow today, he took the front screen off and cleaned the microphone at the top of the screen (under the front facing camera) he said that the phone has several microphones. The ones at the bottom of the screen were working fine but the one at the top had dirt/dust in it. He said Siri on iOS 7 must use more microphones than iOS 6 which is why it worked fine before. He didn't charge me anything even though my warranty has ran out. Phones now working fine. Very happy with the service

Was on my cousins iPhone and Siri worked fine. Not sure if it's mics not working or a software glitch, but I can imagine that it's totally mics. I mean, it worked fine before and for so many people to be having the same problem... I don't get it.

Yes! This is the EXACT same thing that is happening to me. I have an iphone 5 & siri doesn't work @ all & my speaker doesn't work during calls. This is extremely frustrating!

I went to the Apple Store in regards to this issue and after trying a few things Apple REPLACED my phone!
1. Reset All Setting. (did not fix issue)
2. Reset Phone to Factory default and restored from backup. (did not fix issue)
3. Reset Phone to Factory default and did NOT restore from backup. (did not fix issue)
The Apple Employee hasn't seen this before so he asked if he could try a few things before getting a new phone. We tried above steps but they did not fix the issue.
Here's what I was told by the Genius Bar Employee:
The iphone 5 has at least two microphones. One mic is used while you're using the phone close to your head while a second mic is used when you are using it away from your face (ie. when you're on speaker). The problem reported by majory of above posters is when you try to use the "speakerphone mic" to give commands to Siri.
It seems that iOS7 handles communication differently to the secondary "speakerphone mic" and apparently it doesn't work on some iphone 5 phones. They were unable to find true cause behind this issue and this is just speculation. Either way something did change in iOS7 to cause this. Even though this most likely a software related issue the Geniuses at the Burnaby Apple Store replaced my phone. I really appreciated that!
If the issue is the same as above you will need to make an appointment at the Apple Store to get your phone replaced. Make sure to do this quick while you still have warranty on your phone. But even if you don't have warranty left on your phone I would still go and speak with them, they might just be nice to you .
TIP: Check your device warranty here:

my wife's iphone 5 mic just stopped the other day.. no clue why. Tried full resets, full restores, nothing.
Siri appears to still be working. My guess it's the mic on the bottom that's malfunctioning.
I called apple support and I'll be sending it for repairs.. JOY!

I have been complaining for a few days now, since I upgraded. I find the changes uncomfortable. However, my biggest issue was that SIRI stopped working. I started playing with it and discovered that I was not doing it properly. I always used the "HOME" button to open or talk or close it. That's what worked before. This time, I noticed that it opens and asks "What can I help you with" - and the voice recording line at the bottom was moving - so something was happening. This time I touched the screen where the voice records and IT WORKS! I no longer touch the HOME button. That actually closes SIRI - so of course it wasn't working for me - I kept closing it! WOO HOO!!! Furthermore, it works 10x better than it did before. The voice is clearer and less like a robot. My voice is recognized far more smoothly, and faster. Plus I can ask more questions or give commands. "Check Voicemail" or "Play voicemail" "Check messages" or "Open calculator", to which she responds, "You'll need to unlock your phone first." LOL. And yes, she opens it. This is cool.

I have a 9 month old iPhone 5 16 GB on VZW. It has been perfect with use until I updated to iOS7. Same issues as many have you have mentioned. Siri does NOT work when you just push home and talk. It DOES work with headphones in, blue-tooth in the car, and even when I have the phone plugged in and charging. I have tried all re-boots, re-sets, and so forth with NO luck. This has to be a SOFTWARE issue is SO many iPhone 5 owners starting having this issue with upgrading to iOS7.
APPLE PLEASE GET US ALL A SOLUTION, PLEASE! Thank you.

Went to the Apple Genius Bar today in Keystone to have my iPhone 5 looked at. After 3 minutes the Apple Associate gladly replaced my iPhone 5. She had the same problems I did with Siri. In and out in 15 minutes. Great service, and help. Thank you Apple!

I'm having the same problem. This is clearly a software issue. The speakerphone doesn't work for Siri or on a call, but it does work for voice memos.
You would think that the solution would be to fix this bug in the next update to iOS 7, instead of giving us all new phones. Apple please address this issue!
