    Mic problem with my iPhone 5 32 gb as well.. updated to 7.0.3 still same problem.. in my case I'm located in India but the iPhone was brought in USA At&t.. tried everything..nothing works.. what to do?? I won't get warranty also

    iOS7 killed the speakerphone mic on my and my wifes iPhone 4's. I've tried everything including a complete reset without loading in a backup. Nothing seems to work. I went to the apple store and they simply said my phone was broke and out of warranty and that there are no reported issues with ios7 and the mic.

     

    I downgraded to ios6 then had them update to ios7 to show that the issue was caused by the ios update and not the phone. All I got was sorry, we'd be more then happy to replace it for $150.

    Same Problem here. Microphone doesn't work only with Siri.

    "I have an iPhone 5, AT&T, 64GB, updated to iOS 7.

    Siri works with Raise to speak, and with headphones with microphones, but NOT if I just press the Home button like it's supposed to do.

    I've also noticed that the Speaker function in calls doesn't not work either. I can hear the caller but the caller cannot hear me. I've restored 3 times to factory settings and setup as new iPhone and no change. Anybody with the same problem? Any ideas besides going to the Genius Bar? Thank you."

     

    I have the same problem, have an iPhone 5 and after I installed iOS7 Siri stopped being able to hear the built in mic.  If I use the earbud mic, it works perfectly, and if I talk on the phone with or without the earbuds the mic works, but if I use the speakerphone the mic is dead as well. 

     

    The hardware must be working, I can record memos, everything but these two things.  I took it to the genius bat and the genius cleaned dust out, reinstalled the system, still didn't ork thoush she was sure it did and it was only the room noise that kept it from working.  Wrong!

     

    I have done the reset of all and network connections restarted, reset all ways possible listed here and other places, but it is still not working, when it was fine before iOS7.  Has there been any progress anyone can report?  Of course they released the new system right after my warranty ran out, but the phone works except for this so don't see what swapping would do..but so far the geniuses are dumbstruck.  I have to waste more time making another appointment and waiting an hour for someone to do what I tried at home...I assumed they would have run into this and would know the cause by now.

     

    Any help out there from Apple or anyone?  At least I know I am not the only one.

    Oh, and I am on Verizon, not AT&T, so provider doesn't seem to be the issue.

    Okay this may work. Make sure your in wifi! When you go to bed turn off siri. Plug your iPhone in. Then turn siri back on wait about 30 seconds and start talking to siri ask about 2-3 questions then leave it alone until the next afternoon.

    Hi All,

    Same problem here. I don't think it is hardware related at all... Here are some notes, maybe this helps an Apple slueth figure it out.

     

    • Microphone fails to work:
      • Speech to text in messages
      • Siri
      • Speakerphone on calls w/ others
    • Microphone works:
      • Using voice memos
      • Turning off Siri and using the integrated "non-Siri" voice feature
      • Tapping the question mark once or a few times in a row sometimes gets Siri to work.
      • Normal "non-speaker" calls

     

    I took this out to an Apple "Genius" and he said:

          A.) "We've never seen this before (they always say that)

         B.) We had three guys looking at this, and we have no idea.

     

    If anyone has a solid way to fix... I'm all ears.

    I had been waiting for talking to type since my awful 5th grade typing class. as if by magic, my prayers were answered. now only to have it taken away. .......

     

    my Siri possibly had stopped working after plugging the USB into an old DVD player to charge

    the mic works, evidenced by the picking up of video sound and by voice command (non-internet siri) working

     

    I tried:

     

    hard reset, wipe, and taking to the genius bar --> they said "never seen this before" as well, and offered an replacement

     

    losing faith in apple b/c THIS IS OBVOIUSLY A SOFTWARE ISSUE...

     

    i dictate regularly into my iphone for work, i have lost a huge chunk of functionality

    internal microphone doesn't work with siri and keyboard dictation

     

     

    headset works with telephone, speech memo and so on - *and* works with siri and keyboard

    If you've had it within a year take it to Apple Store and swap it out it's their problem not yours. I've done it before.

    I'm having almost the exact same problem if not EXACTLY the same.

     

    Dictation in text message = Does not work

     

    Speaking with Siri via activated with Home button = Does not work

     

    Speaking with Siri with "Raise to Speak' = WORKS

     

    Voice Memos = WORKS

     

    Speaker phone on call = WORKS

     

    Voice control instead of Siri = WORKS

     

    Very strange.  I have an appointment with the "Genius" bar on Monday morning.  The phone is still under warranty.  Does anyone know if they still have iPhone 5's (not 5s) to give out for warranty purposes or do they replace it with a 5c?

    For the warranty reason they should still have iPhone 5's.
