I would also love to know the answer to this.
Me too. So far it is the only issue that I have run into.
You can delete any song locally stored on your iPhone by swiping it to the left. However, I'm still searching how to delete an entire album or artist...
I am not sure I completely understand your problem, but I did not like that all the music I had purchased (stored on iCloud but not downloaded to my iPhone) was showing up in my music when I upgraded to iOS 7.
The solution for me was to go into 'Settings > Music' and toggle off "Show All Music".
Alternatively, if you want to just delete a song that is downloaded on to your local iPhone, you just need to swipe over the song to the left and then select "Delete".
I hope this helps.
I have this problem as well. I have turned off "Show All Music" but some of my purchased songs have come back.
These songs, even when swiping from right to left, are not deleteable. I am able to delete regular synced mp3s from iTunes, but not purchased music.
Help!
I agree. This works for some songs but not all of them. This is so frusturating. Help!
I had to remove all of my music. Settings>General>Usage>Music>Edit>delete All Music. Then re-add all the music I wanted. It's a pain, but it worked.
SOLUTION
wasn't apple supposed to be the panacea for things tech?
make our lives so fun and eazzzzy.
are you kidding me. they don't even have a simple and intuitive solution to delete a freak'in song.
Ohhhh and the kicker...you pay for their 3 year servive plan...and what do they do...low and behold...direct you to Apple forums...so paying suckers like us have to do their job for them!
....common Apple show some real service and chim in with an SOLUTION.

I definitely can't delete songs or albums swiping right to left or left to right. It's become impossible to delete albums or songs unless I use iTunes on my computer to sync then check then uncheck the songs or albums. This was the only way I was able to remove a couple of songs from my iPhone 5.
I have run into this same issue, I can delete some songs by swiping to the left but not all of them. The kicker is that we have a song from maroon 5 with an obscene album cover that we are trying to remove from his ipod touch but cannot.
I can't delete a single song or album
I have the exact same problem. I'm so picky about my music. It's driving me insane! I only have one song that keeps coming back and I don't want it on my phone.
Everyone,
In order to delete some of the songs that are not delete(able?) you have to first re-download them from the cloud. There just seems to be some confusion with the itunes match having songs show up that are not actually on your machine therefore, you aren't able to delte them.
-'Settings > Music' and toggle OFF "Show All Music"
-delete all the songs you are able to download.
-make a note of all teh songs you can't and then,
-'Settings > Music' and toggle ON "Show All Music"
-go back to iTunes on your device and re-download (click on the cloud icon) all the songs you noted in the last step
-Once they're all downloaded on to your device,
-go back to 'Settings > Music' and toggle OFF "Show All Music"
and the songs you donwloaded should be the only ones showing up.
-Delete those and you should have a "media on deivce" or something
-go back to 'Settings > Music' and toggle ON "Show All Music"
-and you should have a clean iTunes Match library.
I think the issue here might be to do with cached songs. If you actually download a song onto your iPhone by tapping the cloud icon, you can delete that song by swiping to the left.
However, if you simply "listen" to the song, then it is cached on your iPhone. When you turn off "Show All Music", you will be left with the music you have manually "downloaded" AND the music iOS has "downladed to cache"
You can delete the stuff you've downloaded, but not the stuff iOS has cached !!!
To prove the point, after simplying playing a track and having iOS cache it I was unable to delete. I then manually downloaded the track using cloud icon after which I was able to delete it.
