Why isn't iTunes Match loading?

My screen in the Music app has said "Loading iTunes Match" all day now. I've restarted the process as well as rebooting the phone several times but still no progress. Any thoughts?

I think Moped Will has nailed it. This is probably related to the updates and will sort itself out once everyone and their grandmother is done downloading updates. It's annoying, that much is true. I have noticed that iTunes Match is working just fine on my iOS devices but my computer is stuck with the loading cloud and nothing is... well, loading, on iTunes Match.

My (lame) advice is we should just wait a little.

It's especailly bad timing since I'm up for renewal in a couple of weeks (subtle hint Apple).

  • iTunes Match is working on my iPhone, even though I don't have it turned on on my iPhone which is a pain.
  • iTunes Match is not working on my computer in iTunes 11.1
  • iTunes Match is working flawlessly on my other computer in iTunes 11.0.5

So it's not that their servers are overloaded, it's a flaw in the update to iTunes. Can anyobdy else confirm?

I don' think that has anything to do with updating to iTunes 11.1 or iOS 7. I'm also having problems and I'm seeing it on devices still running iTunes 11. I also have had it working on devices with iOS 7 and those with iTunes 11.1. It seemed to have went down sometime after 7pm last night. Yesterday it worked fine on my iPhone 5 with iOS 7, my MacBook Pro with iTunes 11.1, and a Windows laptop with iTunes 11.1, and a Windows desktop still on iTunes 11. Sometime after 7 pm it stopped working on the MacBook Pro. The status icon just says, "Accessing iTunes Match." This morning I checked again and same thing. I tried my Windows desktop, still on iTunes 11 and it was in the same state. Updated to iTunes 11.1 and it was still in that state. Checked my Windows laptop that was working yesterday on iTunes 11.1 and now it too has the problem.

My iPhone 5 running iOS 7 seems unaffected. Haven't checked my iPad, but I suspect it is likely fine too.

Same problem here - upgraded my iPhone 4s yesterday. This morning, I downloaded an album for my daughter via iTunes on the Mac and told her she didn't need her iPod as my iPhone has iTunes Match and we'd listen to it that way on the way to school...except for the nutty fact that "Loading iTunes Match" now dominates my Music app and probably isn't loading at all.

For music being SUCH a big part of Apple's world - so sayeth Tim Cook at nearly every Apple Keynote Event - this is frustrating.

I was stuck in "Loading iTunes Music Match" for an hour. Here's what I did:

  1. In Settings -> Music, turned off Music Match
  2. On the computer, started iTunes, plugged in the iPhone, let it sync. It copied some songs to the phone.
  3. In Settings -> Music, turned on Music Match
  4. Synced the phone again by clicking 'Sync' in iTunes
  5. On the phone, went to the Music app. My library loaded in a couple of seconds.

I imagine all these steps aren't required. It may be enough to cycle Music Match off and on. Extra points to the user who can do it in less steps.
