Q: Music not syncing after iOS 7 update

I updated to iOS7 on my iPhone 4 and less than half of my music is syncing to my phone. Any thoughts? I am already hating this update for more than one reason and this is adding icing to the cake...

iPhone 4, iOS 7

I thought I'd fixed it. Spent most of yesterday and today taking the CDs again and adding them to the itunes library and copying them into the IPAD one at a time. Everything was fine until one particular track, that appeared to cause it to lock up on the applying changes step. Looking at music on the ipad showed the now playing was switching rapidly between the last track I had played and the track it was stuck on. I turned it all off and tried again. This time it decided to reload the entire library despite being set for manual magament of the music. Thank goodness I've got all the music backed up on another computer, otherwise its really hard to find out what has gone missing.

    sync error.jpg

After resetting all settings on my iPod Touch, turning off sharing, deleted off all music from the iPod's setting interface and ensured it showed the connect to iTunes interface, I proceeded to select Do Not Sync Music, podcasts and books in iTunes. I never had iTunes Match. After that, I only proceeded to sync Apps, Music listed under playlists and Movies to the iPod. iOS Version 7.0.2

The sync started to push songs onto the iPod after being stuck at the Waiting To Apply Changes status for about 30 secs. It has already synced over 1300 songs and still continuing fine.

However, I find it strange that all the song titles have already appeared in my iPod, without the graying out status to show it is waiting to be synced. In addition, it showed this weird status message, as shown above. Downloading song # of 0...

PS: Does anybody have a buggy app arrangement display in iTunes for choosing which apps to sync over?

I have managed to complete the sync without any issues, except for the weird download counter on the iPod. Closed iTunes and open iTunes a few times and performed a sync later on and it still worked as it should.

I think those of us that still have issues should all leave feedback with Apple.  I have left several feedback messages.  I still have not heard from anyone at Apple and when I went to the Genius Bar; they also could not figure the syncing issue.  Brilliant.

Let's all leave tons of feedback and maybe Apple will push a real update.

If you reset the iphone sync WILL work. I've done it with over a dozen iPhones

That depends on which probl your having. My issue is that every so often iTunes stops updating playlists synched with Match. Fixing that requires me to log out of my account on iTunes, Turn off match and restart the program. After iTunes relaunches, is logged back into & Match is restarted playlist synching works.

I did try to sync after resetting but it only went ahead to corrupt my iPod library. It only worked again after wiping out the library from the usage menu and trying the steps I mentioned.

This bug is probably triggered by many permutations but have the same failure point. Wish the Apple programmers world fix this soon.

hi, ive just tried all what has been said but to no avai... so this is what i did to get it to work

    1. connect phone to itunes

    2. goto music

    3. deselect all artists

    4.deselect all albums except one

    5. apply again (it should work)

    6. now select 5 albums

    7. apply  again

i done this process until all albums were back on

if it hangs on waiting to be applied deselct the last albums, re sync and do them one at a time

    Simple solution worked for me:

Summary Menu, under options...check Manuallly manage music

Solved my music sync issue instantly.

"Summary Menu, under options...check Manuallly manage music"

That is exactly what I wrote at the bottom of last page and it worked perfectly.

Also all the playlists synced too.

Another idea is to create a smart playlist with time > 0:00. This playlist will include all the songs - ticked and unticked.

Turning on manual synching in no way solves the iTunes Match playlist synch problem. It just avoids it.

It works if you click on your device in upper right corner. Then, on the top you will see tabs that say summary, info, apps, tones, music, etc. Click on music and check the box that says Sync Music. After clicking that, I was able to sync my Iphone 4s.

I don't have iTunes Match so I cannot comment on this. Yes, you are right - it is just temporary fix until Apple will fix the problem.

(Sorry for my english) After a couple days fighting for copy some new songs on my iPhone 4s with Manual Synching activated, and after delete and copy two times the thousands of songs that I have on my iPhone, I think that iTunes 11.1 has an issue related with the management of the Smart Playlists. For example, with 6 Smart Playlists that I had on the iPhone, one single sound delays 6:02 minutes to be copied. After delete all the Smart Playlists it takes only a few seconds. If I create a new Smart Playlist with 400 songs, then it need around one minute to copy a single song. If a made a new Smart Playlist with some thousand of songs, already it needs some minutes. This issue also dissappear if you uncheck the Realtime update on your Smart Playlists, but if you pretend to manual update them, the problem reappears and iTunes also needs a long time to update the Playlists.

Just gonna add my name to the ever-growing list here. Seems like there are plenty of convoluted workarounds, but the bottom line is music syncing is not working as it should in iTunes 11.1 with iOS 7.0.2. Everyone submit feedback and let's hope we get a fix.
