Oct 7, 2013 9:25 AM in response to FunkieVikby nun4db,Not that there was any doubt, but I confirmed for myself last night that this is definitely an iOS 7 issue, and not an iTunes 11.1 issue. I went back to my iPhone 4, which is still running iOS 6, removed all music from it, then synced two playlists (totaling 10GB) from iTunes, and it worked flawlessly. Absolutely no issues.
This is really a huge bug. I spent $200 more than I needed to on my iPhone 5s because I wanted as much storage space as possible for music. I have no interest in iTunes Match (I bought it a year or so ago, and it was terrible), Spotify, or any other cloud/streaming music service. I want the ability to sync the music I own in whatever format I want and to be able to listen to it on top of Everest if so inclined. This is one of the core functions of the iPhone ("a widescreen iPod / a revolutionary mobile phone / a breakthrough Internet device"), and it is pathetic that Apple pushed out a release in which this does not work correctly.
grrr!

Oct 7, 2013 9:36 AM in response to nun4dbby adunni66,Actually no, there are several overlapping issues. Some are iOS related and some are iTunes (specifically iTunes Match) related.
iTunes Match sometimes stops updating playlists. I can 100% confirm this iTunes behavior by opening iTunes on two different computers with the same iTunes Match account. Changes to playlists on one are not reflected on the other. Newly added purchases are synched. iOS7 is not involved at all. This is an iTunes Match issue.
There are also iOS7 synching problems. Both sets of problems have similar symptoms. Occasionally both are sloved by restarting iTunes, computers or iOS devices. There are some specific steps that can force Match to start working again. There are other specific steps that force iOS devices to start synching again.

Oct 8, 2013 8:26 AM in response to yax412by Jerryscorner,I tried all the suggestions on here and eventually had to Restore my iphone from scratch. Super frustrating! I haven't had any problems syncing over the last two days. Hopefully, it worked...

Oct 8, 2013 12:27 PM in response to RaquishaJby wubbie05,So, I need to basically start all over? That'll teach me to buy songs elsewhere and except to add them later individually to my iPhone. Just so I know, I need to delete all my songs on my iPhone and make playlists again on iTunes and sync those? I do NOT want all the music from iTunes on my iPhone, just some of the songs.

Oct 8, 2013 3:35 PM in response to wubbie05by Yul.es,You can make a Playlist with all the songs in your iPhone. Then import it to iTunes. Then delete all the music on your iPhone (or select Manually Mamage) then, in the Music Tab of your iPhone in iTunes, choose Fill with the Playlist that you have imported before.

Oct 8, 2013 3:38 PM in response to wubbie05by Dodie414,I wouldn't. I had the same problem and as it turned out my iTunes media folder didn't contain my music. I went to my finder and sure enough my music was in a different folder. My hard drive crashed & when I restored my iTunes library I had to change the folder setting for iTunes. When I downloaded the new version if iTunes, my folder was re-set back to the default iTunes media folder.

Oct 8, 2013 6:39 PM in response to yax412by Jeffrey Berke,What FINALLY worked for me:
Settings>General>Usage>Music> SWIPE AND DELETE ALL MUSIC DATA
This cleared all the CRAP, iCloud, Purchased, f-ing Billy Ray Cyrus (I have no idea how that nonsense got on my phone, it's not anywhere on my computer).
Then selected Manually Manage Music, clicked the boxes I wanted, clicked Sync again.
PHEW!
Where's Steve Jobs . . .

Oct 8, 2013 7:03 PM in response to Dodie414by JC325,**THIS SIMPLE FIX WORKED FOR ME**
ISSUE- Could not sync music and podcasts.
My frustration since upgrading to iO7 was HUGE. So sorry for all of you that have gone through the same thing.
I did all the suggestions listed in this discussion....except RESTORE. I was reluctant as it seemed so drastic.
Make sure you are backed up to your computer or the Cloud (or both). Turn off "find my iPhone" in your iCloud phone settings (RESTORE will require it!).
Then plug the phone in like you are going to sync. Go to the summary tab...and hit RESTORE. iTunes will queue you the rest of the way through. It really didn't take very long...maybe 30 minutes?
Once I did this I was immediately able to sync music and podcasts again. iTunes quit hanging up on the last step too!
I truly hope this works for everyone else too!! Good luck!

Oct 9, 2013 2:59 AM in response to JC325by simplysounds, since doing that have you disconnected the phone and tried changing playlist contents (i.e try creating a new playlist called test, adding a track and then re-sync?)
i've tried all that's been suggested. the 'find my phone' was off. i swtched it on and then off again (had to sign in with my apple id to enable off)
re-synced as suggested with no change.
my phone syncs apps and pictures but no music or video content unless i do a restore. my restore takes up to an hour which is not a fix.
it will only sync if i restore. this means that if i modify a playlist or add music/video i have to restore my phone every time.

Oct 9, 2013 5:05 AM in response to simplysoundsby JC325,Simplysounds...
To answer your question, I don't do playlists...so I don't know if mine will have that particular issue.
I can tell you that after restoring, my 1st music sync test was only 5 songs. Once complete I disconnected...and viola! It worked! I reconnected and checked all the other songs (by album) that I wanted to add. After syncing this 2nd time, I disconnected and all my music was added. I re-connected a 3rd time and checked the podcasts that I wanted to add...again, it worked flawlessly.
At least for now, iTunes and the phone (4S) work as they should. If I get a chance I'll rip another CD and add it to see if an issue arises. I'll report back if I find anything.
Again- Good luck!!!
