Q: Music not syncing after iOS 7 update

I updated to iOS7 on my iPhone 4 and less than half of my music is syncing to my phone. Any thoughts? I am already hating this update for more than one reason and this is adding icing to the cake...

Oh, yes! You are very clever. This is so simple like delete and resync more than 10500 songs that I have on my iPhone. Thanks a lot. [/ironic mode off]

Ok folks. I was on the phone with the Apple tech folks (three separate calls to be exact) earlier today for about 3 hours. I explained to them that none of my songs were syncing and that iTunes indicated that my 32 gig iPone 5s (running iOS 7.0.3) was over capacity by about 16 gigs. I also mentioned that I could not send any iMessages out and that all of my problems started late last night when I updated to iTunes 11.1.2 and then synced my phone. The last senior tech that I dealt with, Bianca, was amazing. The solution that worked for me is as follows:

    1. Back up your iPhone via iCloud (has to be iCloud, not a backup you locally stored on your computer).

    2. Restore your iPhone from that iCloud backup.

    3. Sync via iTunes.

    This should work.

I have tried everything in this thread, except restoring as a new phone, and nothing has actually worked. Restoring *might* work but doesn't really qualify as an acceptable fix in my opinion.

I've submitted a bug report. I think I might re-submit it every day that I'm not acknowledged while the problem remains.

So I thought I would take a screenshot to send to gizmodo with the story tip... I plugged my phone in and it synced!

The only thing that has changed recently is my version of iTunes. I now have 11.1.2.32 (Windows 7, 64 bit).

This whole thing has been so flaky though, with fixes working for some, not others. Not entirely convinced the new iTunes will be a fix for everybody.

There is no new update version for MAC's itunes......the latest version I got on my Mac is 11.1.2......which is not working at all......it just let me sync a playlist with 68 songs on it......but the other playlist with 198 songs kept stuck at step 7 or awaiting changes to be applied stage

This is so frustrating, updated my IPad and my sons iPod touch. To ios7 and now neither will properly update or download apps or songs from iTunes.

Have tried most things except restore as new.  Tried backing the iPod touch up to iCloud,  any then resetting all and then restoring from iCloud,  it restored the settings but none of the apps will download and none of the music will down load.

I tried to sync the iPod touch via my Mac but it needs the latest version of iTunes which downloads on the Mac but won't install

My iPad will update apps occasionally but mostly not, and never when I ask it too.

Really regretting the update to ios7.  My wife's iPhone I haven't updated and won't until I know this is fixed.

Really annoying that no one from a Apple gets on these forums to tell us what's going on.

I have 12 Apple devices and was a big fan, because it used to all just work.   Now it is all just not working and I am losing patience fast.   Might go Samsung shopping later.

Same issue here, i reckon i am done buying apple products because if they can't make them "just work" then they're not worth the price.

Some of us say they fixed the problem but I wonder if they really succeded in syncing multiple smart playlists with many songs in them.

Also, "manually manage music" option cannot solve the the issue at all.

Finally, I cannot even think about making a new smartlist when I have so many playlists I have accumulated for so many years.

My point is that we don't want to give Apple false impression that a few methods can solve iOS7 music sync bug.

I updated to 7.0.3 and NO the problem is not fixed.  I have an older iPhone 4S.

Followed prior suggestions to dump all iTunes music and videos OFF the phone and then resync putting ALL 1000 plus songs and other movies back onto the phone.  This worked.

Hope that every time I want to add another song to my playlist and then sync it onto the phone it actually gets added because there is no way I am going to do super long syncs where I keep wiping the phone and then resyncing all songs/movies onto it.

I realize there are a bunch of workarounds suggested and not all work for everybody. Here's mine - I discovered my problem was 100% in the Genius files. After days of frustration and fruitless calls with Apple support, I:

    1. Turned off genius. itunes>store>turn off genius

    2.  Restarted itunes

    3. Restored iphone.

    I've had no problems since.

Apple support did say this was a "known problem" and a fix would be coming "soon", but I couldn't get any more info than that.

In the mean time, I'm happy to be working again...and didn't need genius that much anyway!

Well, I never turned on Genius feature all this long and still find the issue.
