Dec 9, 2013 11:46 PM in response to yax412by heychrissyr,Most ridiculous problem ever. What's really infuriating is this has gone on for months with no solutions and no acknowledgement. I'm an Apple everything girl but I'm thinking it's time to dump Apple in favor of a company with actual customer service.
In any case, for now I was able to change my settings to manually manage music and then drag over individual playlists. It's a pain in the a** and may not work for longterm but it's a short-term solution that worked for me.

Dec 10, 2013 2:50 AM in response to heychrissyrby paulroberts54,You mean customer non-service. Called a sweet guy at apple yesterday who honestly said I was the first to call his dept with this issue - nearly wet meself! I'm sure he was being totally honest. They are supposed to be calling me today......think they tried yesterday when I told them already I was too busy for a long call and did not want to restore and all that tech shizzle - the guy had that same mantra, "I want to fix this problem for you yadda yadda...". 'Erm I think that will not happen', says I.
Will post any news.

Dec 10, 2013 9:15 AM in response to Robertaguileraby RobertSch6,Does the Moto X sync the AAC music files that you purchased through iTunes? I'm due for an upgrade, and I am trying to keep my options open for my next phone.

Dec 10, 2013 3:50 PM in response to yax412by tehR,Haven't read all 46 pages, but here is what worked for me:
I selected the playlist that wouldn't sync in my iTunes library and dragged one of the songs in the playlist onto my iPhone in the devices pane. Suddenly all the songs in the playlist started copying over and when they were all done I had the new playlist on my phone.
I can't believe how many simply random things seem to work for different people. Well, there's another data point. Hope it helps someone out.

Dec 10, 2013 5:50 PM in response to yax412by ricardofski,This is outrageous, Apple. I can't set the iTunes on a Macbook I have just bought to automatically sync music to my iPhone 5. Are you kidding with your clients who spend thousands of dollars in your products? Come on, costumers do deserve respect and shouldn't be treated like idiots.

Dec 10, 2013 5:54 PM in response to ricardofskiby zelous, the system is designed to be able to do that, if its not working either something is wrong that was not intended by apple or something is wrong between the keyboard and the chair.

Dec 10, 2013 6:57 PM in response to zelousby wilkiecoco2,I just received a replacement iphone5 for my trouble, and...problem persists. I tried reinstalling factory settings and reinstalling from a backup, What's going on? Is it itunes? Does the ios update come from the itunes program on my computer or from the internet? Should I uninstall and reinstall itunes? I'm lost, frustrated, ****** off, sad and depressed

Dec 11, 2013 9:42 AM in response to wilkiecoco2by datbates,It sounds like your issue was that ther is some track or play list that has issues. Unfortunately Apple gives super lame errors or no errors when this is happening. Try doing one playlist at a time or something to find the problem child.

Dec 11, 2013 10:10 AM in response to wilkiecoco2by ryandickey,Based on your description, I really think the 'Playlist is Music' fix will work for you. Go into any smart playlists you have, and add the criterion "Playlist is Music', then try syncing again. It fixed my problem for both smart playlists, and everything else.

Dec 11, 2013 10:44 AM in response to ryandickeyby welshwizard1927,I should update you all.
I booked an appointment at a Genuis bar last week. The chap I spoke to had never heard of the problem. When I explained that the amount dedicated to 'other' was virtually the same amount as was originally dedicated to music, and therefore that it may be that these music files are corrupted in some way, he "somewhat doubted" that it would be the case.
In the end, the only suggestion he could offer was to do a full reset. In the interim, I have found a workaround of sorts: load up as many songs as you can (maybe a favourites playlist), sync the iPhone then log out of iTunes. I've found this has worked, albeit the obvious difficulty that I'll probably encounter the same problem if I download a new song or app...

Dec 13, 2013 10:50 AM in response to yax412by patrickhammer,Nothing works. Not Remote App, not "Playlist is music", not reset, not deactivating passcode. It's been how long? Four months now? I want to sync my music! Really really frustrating - and no word from Apple. 180,000 views, 700 postings seem not to be enough to acknowledge this as a real problem.
-
Dec 13, 2013 12:35 PM in response to patrickhammerby DeludedBrit,It really beggars belief as this problem has been known for so many months... on their very own community site! It's a disgrace that they are so contemptous of (up till now) loyal customers.
There really is a sea change going on at Apple and it's not for the better.
They're now become just another greedy and arrogant company who don't care about their customers because they think their products are just too good to fail.
Their attitude makes me sick.
