Dec 13, 2013 9:15 PM in response to dmt25by Newuser2013,This solution worked for me too. I wonder if I will have to do this every time I upload a CD to my computer that I also want on my iPhone.

Dec 13, 2013 9:50 PM in response to yax412by eeeeba,I was having the same exact problem, and the hard reset worked for me! I disabled the lock code beforehand, once again not entirely sure if that was a contributing factor, but afterwards my music synced just fine. Thank you!

Dec 15, 2013 7:42 AM in response to yax412by patrickhammer,So, I've been on this forum for a few months now and tried many things. Yesterday I took two hours and called Apple support and they finally got it working. I've been syncing and resyncing a few times now, it really works. Here's what I did:
- I visited the support website and clicked through to my problem (iPhone-->Syncing)
- the site asked me to send diagnosis data
- I got an email with a button to send the detailed diagnosis data
- I then called Apple support
- First level support tried it with deleting all data from my iPhone which at first seemed to work but did not
- Second level support (which I got redirected to after the first try) took a look at the diagnosis data and saw that my music app was out of memory.
- He suggested to do a full reset of the phone after at first backing it up on my Mac (not iCloud)
- This downloaded the 7.0.4 software to my Mac (1.4 GB) and overwrote the existing firmware
- Afterwards, I couldn't believe it myself - it worked.
--> Waiting for changes to be applied can take a while the first time. But afterwards it's really fast.
I highly recommend to try this out. The support guys never heard of this problem (Apple support Germany), but were extremely friendly.
I wish you good luck

Dec 15, 2013 9:30 AM in response to S8toby patrickhammer, hmm, I have the German version of iTunes. It's when you connect your iphone on the iTunes-iPhone homescreen. There's the ioS Version and under it some text and then two buttons "search for update" and "reset iPhone" (or something like that). The latter button is the one you wanna hit...

Dec 15, 2013 6:04 PM in response to cep77by d8nvn,Have i Phone 5 64 gig. Same problem. Music: specifically after 7.03 would not update. New playlists, purchased music et. all. The above fixed everything except the Purchased music changes. Still it did help a lot.
IOS 8 anyone?

Dec 16, 2013 12:56 PM in response to yax412by laspalmas.dk,This seems to have done it on my iPhone 4S after having done most things suggested with no luck.
- Close all apps
- Hard reset
- iPhone unlocked (but passcode not switched off as I can't)
- Using cable, not wifi
- Selecting one of the (many) songs that would not sync
And all of the remaining songs just started syncing.
I then went on to do the same on my iPad 2. It did not work even though I did it with several files. Then I manually added one song that was not supposed to be on the iPad, and then it again started syncing all the files that were supposed to have been synced.
This is so random and some of the above bullets may not be necessary, and of course they may not work for everyone. But they did for me and trying out different things with manually adding just one song might do it.
Good luck.

Followed laspalmas route - nothing....have tried drag and drop to the iphone playlist/device on sidebar but still the dotted circle stayed grey etc etc.....
THEN - keeping the lead connected - I actually checked 'add manually' but did not uncheck automatically - then synced and blah blah it appeared nothing was happening - so I got it in my head to pull out the lead from phone to laptop....before it had finshed the sync...(haha it's like wiggling a wire on your telly or something equally old school) and hey presto something happened - at first it actually left some songs on my original non problematic playlists, but also some of those songs would not play and had a red solid square in a red circle to their right!!!!????
I then hit sync again and could not believe everything synced - and the red square disappeared and everything is now tickety boo....I am going to try again to see if the problem comes back tho'......
this is so amazingly random it is ridiculous.....I am sure if you keep trying the drag and drop from itunes up to iphone playlists and then doing a bit of fiddling something will happen - hardly technical I know but crazy that it's working -
Also another thing is that when you check the playlists you want to sync or drag one from itunes to phone menu, they actually appear in the iphone playlists but have no content save the greyed out songs....sorry it is a waffle but it all happened so fast ....

Dec 19, 2013 5:40 AM in response to marriedtoatechieby BiancaNeve,I also turned the 'Passcode Off' and now I even have Genius in my iTunes on my iPhone.. Clearly something hadn't sync'd correctly the first time.
