IF IOS 7.0.6 UPDATE HELPED YOU FIX OR IMPROVE THIS ISSUE, PLEASE LET US ALL KNOW!!!!
Good Luck, Apple!!!!
I doubt the update will fix this issue.
According to:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6147?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
it fixes only one thing.
Description: Secure Transport failed to validate the authenticity of the connection. This issue was addressed by restoring missing validation steps.
and according to the "what's in this update" that shows up on the ios device, it states the same thing.
I suspect apple has pretty much abandoned the 7.0 version and is biding their time so they can push 7.1... something which is rumoured to be released next month sometime.
Time will tell if it's fixed then.

Feb 24, 2014 8:23 AM in response to pegaudetby arkady1,There might be a little Speed improvement wiith this iOS 7.0.6 Update, but I can't say for sure!
I definitely got better at keeping my very explicit Logs, and I see some "hope" through that, because it gives me Predictability, where I can Estimate almost to minute when the Large Numbers of Songs Batch will Finish Syncing!
I am even more certain about my Conclusion:
The Speed of Sync has little to do with the GB's Size of the Total of Songs that are being Synced!
It's the Large Number of Songs that the Sync takes too long to process!
The iOS Sync is not a straight Copying via USB or WiFi, like it would be in Finder! It's going through TCP/IP Protocol, but I don't know much about that, and how it effects the Speed! Maybe Apple uses TCP/IP to better control Security to protect iOS? But I don't care!
My recent Batch was 3833 Songs = 2.89 GB
It took an Overnight Sync = Finished = 9 hrs : 15 min : 57.7 sec - or sooner!!!
My Raw Estimate was:
3801 Songs added / 633.48 min = 6 Songs Per min Average Speed for this Entire Sync
But it turned out to be
3833 / 633.48 min = 6.05 Songs Per min Average Speed for this Entire Sync
0.05 sec x 3833 Songs = 191.65 sec / 60 sec = 3.194 min
So, the "sooner" = 3.194 minute faster than Overnight Sync = Finished = 9 hrs : 15 min : 57.7 sec ??
Basically, knowing the Speed of Copy, and thus having the ability to PREDICT when the Sync would Finish, really helped ME to deal with the FRUSTRATION of this SLOW SYNC!!!!
So, re: the Name of this Thread / Topic - Music not syncing after iOS 7 update -- my GUESS is that it's NOT TRUE!!!
What I think is happening is this:
The Sync is VERY SLOW
Users Lose Patience and Quit, because these Stages/Steps of the Sync take too long:
Waiting for changes to be applied
Waiting for items to copy
But, if the users look in iPhone Settings > General > About, and keep Tapping to Refresh the About, they will see that the Number of Songs • IS • increasing, which means that the Songs • ARE • being Copied!
The "SOLUTION" is PATIENCE!!!
Do these Large Number of Songs Sync Overnight!
Start Early, so that, if you need to leave in the morning, you are not stuck waiting!!!
Do the Math to Estimate the Sync Speed, so that you can Predict the Finish Time!!!
For me, my 25454 Songs will take 3 Overnight Syncs!!!
The SAD AND SCARY PART is this:
There is NO CERTAINTY as to How Long that House Of Cards will last! I.e. Here is my Example:
2 Days ago, all of a sudden after a few days of OK Syncs, my Sync would Unexpectedly get stuck minutes after the Previous Sync that was Fast and OK! I am pretty sure WHY that happened:
I did that 2nd Sync, that got stuck, about 1-2 Minutes after Starting iTunes!
There was a Podcast Downloading RIGHT DURING the Sync!!!
Those 2 Activities COLLIDED!!!
Ironically, this happened right before I was about to do this iOS 7.0.6 Update!!!
So, when I saw that "Collision", by looking at my Recently Added Playlist, I saw that Podcast Trying to Download, while the Sync was trying to Sync!
After I Quite that Sync, I saw that my iPhone 4S lost 17 GBs? almost ALL my Music!!!
So, rather than do another Sync, and let my iPhone 4S and iTunes "argue", I did my usual fix:
Restore as New
Restore from Backup
Doing it that way quickly Erased Everything, and gave it a Clean Start in about 30 Minutes!!!
Then I Unchecked All Music, and Split my 25454 Songs into 3 Overnight Syncs!!!
So here is my I HAVE A DREAM:)!
Dear Apple:
Please give us a More Stable and Faster Syncing of Large Number of Songs!!!
The Speed of Sync should be about the GB's Size, not about the Number of Songs!!!!
I should be able to Fill Up my 64 GB iPhone 4S OVERNIGHT even if each of my Songs is a 10 SECONDS Voice Memo, or whatever Content!!!!
If I am using this great app, Audio Hijack Pro to Record my Voice Memos, it SHOULD NOT MATTER!!!
Apple's Questioning my 3rd Party Content, LAME Encoding http://lame.sourceforge.net used by Audio Hijack Pro being the Cause of this Slow Music Sync - that sounded like an Excuse to me, a way to avoid blame! But hopefully Apple realize that by now, and will really try to Improve their iOS Sync Software Code, when dealing with Large Libraries, at least in my Case!
In short, if those LAME Encoded Songs play PERFECTLY in iTunes on my Mac, then they should be AS WELCOME on my iPhone, or iPad!!!!
If Apple Fixes it, I'LL BE THE LOUDEST SCREAMING HAPPIEST APPLE CUSTOMER IN THE WORLD:)! REALLY!!!!!
I'll say it again:
Until iOS 7, as recently as iOS 6.1.3, IT JUST WORKED!!!! And now, after iOS 7 Update, all of a sudden I have to Play Detective!!!!
I've hardly EVER had to keep such DETAILED LOGS!!!
It's FRUSTRATING!
I can't even imagine how frustrating it must be for Apple Care Advisors to handle all those countless calls regarding this SLOW SYNC of Music on iOS!!!!
Oops, this Post ended up being long again, and I am not sure if anyone here really cares! But, if you do, then please LIKE this Comment, so that I don't have to Guess if anyone has actually read it!
If there are enough LIKES, I'll post my Sync Logs "Template" so that it will be easier for you to Estimate the Finish Times for these Large Number of Songs Batches!!!
If not enough people care, I don't want to waste my Time, trying to Abbreviate my Detailed Logs before Posting them for the whole world to see....:)!
Best of Luck to all of you, until Apple Fixes this once and for all, PLEASE!!!!
Thank You to Apple Discussions Moderators for letting me Express my Experience in the Spirit of Free Speech!!! I am not looking to start Riots, or Petitions! I just want to go back to a Very Enjoyable and Productive IT JUST WORKS Experience that I once had with my iTunes and iPhone 4S and iPad, never ever thinking about Syncs!!!!
Thanks in advance for your help, Apple!!!

Feb 25, 2014 12:50 AM in response to arkady1by arkady1,For 2 Days after this iOS 7.0.6 Update my iPhone 4S was Syncing and Working OK. Then on Day 3 I saw some Strange Symptoms of Instability! For the First Time EVER I Saw my iTunes displayed this prompt:
"Could not connect to this iPhone. The device is no longer connected."
It happened suddenly, as my iPhone 4S was plugged via USB, directly into my MacBook Pro 17'.
I was not even Syncing!
The iPhone 4S screen was blinking!!!!
The iPhone Icon in the iTunes was flickering On and OFF!!!
I Unplugged the iPhone, and Restarted iTunes.
The same Symptoms were still there!
I Shutdown my Mac, and did the Soft Reset of my iPhone 4S, by Pressing and Holding Power Button!
That Fixed the Problem!!!
No I wonder if I would have done this iOS 7.0.6 Update if I knew that I'd be seeing such Scary Prompt:
" Could not connect to this iPhone. The device is no longer connected. "
Maybe I would have just waited till iOS 7.1!!!
It's not a fun feeling to be constantly questioning the Stability of my iPhone Sync, and how long it would be before I get an Unexpected Long Sync, when I didn't make any changes since a Fast Sync Finished OK a few minute prior!
Obviously, SECURITY is PRIORITY ONE for Apple, and that seems to be the Theme for this iOS 7.0.6 Update, but we can only hope that Apple is definitely looking into the Entire Music Sync. That is what top people at AppleCare told me! And I hope Apple is focused on the Stability and not just Speed of Music Sync!
Right now I am in the Middle of a Sync, 20372 + 3587 = 23959, and tomorrow night I'll finish the last Batch on the way to 25454 Songs, and build on from there. But…
I simply don't know WHEN that House Of Cards of a Sync will Fall Apart, and I'll have to Start ALL OVER AGAGAIN, from the Beginning:
Restore As New
Restore From The Backup!!!!
It's REALLY FRUSTRATING!
Meanwhile, I wonder if anyone who has Commented on the Previous 54 Pages of this Topic/Thread is actually reading my and other People's Comments! Some LIKES would be nice to see, so that I wouldn't have to guess! Hey, it's not an Ego Thing! I just want Share My Experiences with this similar issue that we all seem to be agonizing over! So, your LIKES would be a nice Show Of Support and Interest! Otherwise I might run out of ALTRUISM, if nobody seems to care, including, I am afraid, Apple itself!!!
I hope you have a better luck with this iOS 7.0.6 Update! But Ideally, it'd be nice Not To Have To Be Lucky! That's how it used to be for me till I Upgrade from iOS 6.1.3. Meanwhile:
Dear Apple! Please FIX THIS ASAP!!!! And if you have any Questions for me, just call me!!!!

Feb 25, 2014 12:53 AM in response to arkady1by S8to,Well reading this now, formerly with an Iphone 4s, IPAD etc.. I am so glad I made the choice to ditch Apple!! This has gone on way too long, still no solid fix, works for some, not for others!! Very, Very poor customer service and ethics from Apple!! Please be patient.. Well Apple this is a consumer product, and 7 months isn't being patient!!
I guess the stock will be rising for the Samsungs, etc of this world, has there ever been a bigger commercial own goal than this?? Somehow I doubt it!!

Hi there, S8to,
You say 7 Month, which I think means that you started having this or similar issue even before iOS 7. My issue started INSTANTLY after my Upgrade from iOS 6.1.3 to iOS 7.0.4!
Either way, I STILL LOVE APPLE, and, even with all it's faults, at least there are HUMANS to speak to at Apple Stores, or on the phone with AppleCare! WHO do I call, if I need help with Android! I am not even going to waste time on that Debate, hint hint!
And how do I know for sure that you are not a TROLL playing Games? Obviously, neither one of us can prove that one way or the other! I hope you are not!
Yes, Apple and WILL fix this, it's just a matter of time! See my Previous Comments about that!
The have a TONS of other Priorities!
In Contrast, Android is mostly a Hear-Say Forums! And I feel that Apple's HOLISTIC APPROACH is for me! But, yes, this Issue is EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING!!!!
Hopefully I'll see some Good News with this current Sync in the AM!
Good Luck to ALL!!!

Feb 25, 2014 1:26 AM in response to arkady1by S8to,Nah you clearly havent done your homework!! Please read the thread back to the start in September!! Sept - March (near enough) = 7 months to me!! (and all from IOS7) I was also one of original posters on this thread so no Troll either!! I am just extremely unhappy about this issue (syncing), basically it worked fine till the (Apple) broke it!! The humans as you call them have NO answers in my case, I just don't buy all this 'Happy Clappy Love in Crap' in any other business especially a small one trhere would be serious commercial consequences for their behaviour here, they just seem to say 'We are Apple, thats ok deal with it'.. Sorry I don't buy that!!

It's 6 Month, ALMOST 7... Yes, I am NO LESS Frustrated than anyone about this!!!
Yes, Apple DID Screw Up here, but...But I still would still much rather SPEAK TO HUMANS in PERSON, or on the phone, vs ALIASES on some Forums!!!!
Google puts their Android OS out there, and then it's:
You guys start your Discussions online, talk among yourselves... That's NOT for me...
I prefere HUMANS..., and I am willing to pay for it!!!
Yes, Apple DID Screw Up with this Music Sync, and they MUST and WILL FIX IT!!!
The Problem often is that the People/User are often not very Verbal, not very Tech Savvy, and not always expressing their Problems very well..
People like ME, who are Tech Savvy and keep GREAT DETAILED LOGS are RARE! I've invited Apple to ask me any Qs by calling me!
AppleCare doesn't always have the Greatest Techs, but it's INFINITELY BETTER than JOE or JANE Anybody in any Retail Store, or Carrier Store Out there!!!
I love my Apple Echo System, and I've received plenty LOVE from Apple before!
YES, I am INSANELY UPSET ABOUT THIS!!! But in MY Experience, Apple's Support is FAR ABOVE anyone else's...
Your Experience could be different...
If you LOVE your Android, Good Luck!
I am off to bed... Not looking to argue!
-
Feb 25, 2014 1:53 AM in response to arkady1by S8to,Not looking to argue, but your responded anway!! Interesting!
To be clear I have moved to another platform not android for the same reasons you outline!
Non tech savvy??? Hello.. What was tech about the sync before hand.. You plug it in it works!! Even dummies like me could do it.. So why are we in some inferior?? Logs mean nothing, basically it worked, it should still work!!
Apple support is at best patchy and by the sounds of it Geographically selective in its help and response, bottom line is with all the kings horsemen at present humpty is still broken, so I am not sure what that says about the collective mind power and will of said Company! Like I said 7 months, think about that logs or not, it still doesn't work!!
Enjoy your sleep!

Feb 25, 2014 8:22 AM in response to arkady1by DVX100Shooter,Im a HUGE fan of Apple products but over the years they have been slowly dissappointing me with one thing or another. The biggest for me was what they did with Final Cut Pro. When they came out with Final Cut X it was like a souped up version of iMovie. I have heard they have made some considerable updates since its debut to make it more professional like FCP 7 was. I still don't know why they felt they needed to come out with a brand new system but that is a conversation for another forum.
I agree with you can take your product into an Apple store and speak to someone about whatever is going on. With Android you would do the same thing except go to the place you bought the phone. I used to have issues with my Droid and I would take it into a Verizon Wireless store.
I am hearing rumors of June 2014 release date for the iPhone 6. If thats true, I wonder if they will come out with a iOS 8 or just update iOS 7.
My biggest gripe with iOS 7 so far is not all of my music is syncing and the other is my battery will go from 100% to zero in a matter of a few minutes if I am using my camera or recording video! Its insane how fast my battery goes down. Closing open apps doesn't really seem to do anything to save me battery power either.

Feb 26, 2014 11:42 AM in response to yax412by slawder,Apple just released iTunes 11.1.5 with fix for device connectivity issues.
My phone has been syncing for about 5 minutes so far (taking a long time copying diagnotic info), but fingers crossed.

Feb 26, 2014 11:51 AM in response to yax412by Jeffery Lim,Regarding the issue of the original post "less than half of iTunes music is sync to the iPhone", I fixed it by replacing a previous iTunes Library file before the iOS7 update (found in User > Music > iTunes > Previous iTunes Libraries) with the latest one in my iTunes folder. Close iTunes app before replacement. Reopen app after replacement. Remember to update/consolidate your items in your library (eg.: newly purchased items) before you started to sync if your previous library file (now your new library file) is too old.
Hope this help.

Feb 26, 2014 12:17 PM in response to slawderby arkady1,I just installed this iTunes 11.1.5 Update, but didn't do a Sync yet, because I don't want to run yet into another re-occurance of the same surprise in the middle of the day:
For No Reason, No Changes since Previous Sync, I'd be starring at "Waiting for changes to be applied" for a long time!
What Changes? There were none! So now I have to remind myself to Sync ONLY before bedtme, so that, if there is such Unexplained Surprise, I won't be stuck under House Arrest?
Why stuck?
Because in the past, when I found myself confronting that Surprise, I'd have to either Cancel the Sync, or Unplug iPhone! Then I'd have to do a Soft Reset on iPhone, so that those Round Spinning Arrows stop spinning on iPhone.
But then - an UGLY SURPRISE -- I LOSE ALMOST ALL my Synced Music, which took me DAYS to Sync!!!! Thus, yet another Re-Install of iOS, Restore from Backup!!!
That is why, I have to remember to Sync ONLY before going to bed! That way the iTunes can make up its mind within "Waiting for changes to be applied" Segment of the Sync!!!
I'll repeat myself a THOUSAND TIMES - Until my Upgrade from iOS 6.1.3 to iOS 7.0.3, and now on iOS 7.06, I NEVER EVER HAD TO THINK ABOUT SYNCING my iPhone!!! EVER!!!!
Meanwhile, as to "fix for device connectivity issues.":
It's Wednesday, February 26, 2014 2:59:00 PM, and I Upgraded to iOS 7.0.6 as soon as it came out. I think it was Saturday, 2/22! Two Days later, I saw this:
My iPhone 4S was plugged into my MacBook Pro 17' via USB
It was not Syncing at that moment, just charging
Screen was Flickering
The iTunes Prompt said:
iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. This device is no longer connected!
I've NEVER EVER seen such Prompt before!
My Workaround was to Unplug the Phone and plug it back in. The same Prompt and Flickering of the Screen on iPhone continued!
I Unplugged iPhone, and did a Soft Reset with the Power Button.
I Restarted my Mac!
The Problem was "fixed", kind of… for a day or so… BUT… I started seen Longer than usual periods of Waiting for Sync to start!!!! Sometimes the Sync would eventually continue, sometimes it won't because I would Cancel, or iTunes would tell me that it Couldn't Start Sync! The Prompt would say:
The iPhone 4S - NAME OF MY IPHONE - could not be synced because the sync session failed to start!
Here is the text of that Prompt again, without NAME OF MY IPHONE, so that if someone is looking for this issue on these Apple Discussions, or online in general, they can hopefully find it quicker:
The iPhone could not be synced because the sync session failed to start!
But hopefully, with this iTunes 11.1.5 Update, this Issue is solved! Better yet, let's hope that this Update also helps our Music Syncing too Slow!!! As I've written before, this Slow Music Syncing to iPhone is based on the Co-Operation between iOS, Mac OS, and iTunes!!!!
I hope you will give us the Good News that this iTunes 11.1.5 Update didn't make things worse, at least!!!
For me, the other Big Decision is Mac OS 10.9.2! Do I wait till iOS 7.1 is released, or do I do it now? Maybe I am not doing myself a favor trying to fix this Slow Sync of Music to iPhone, if I am not on the Latest OS? Right now I am still on iOS 10.8.5 Supplemental, plus today's Security, iTunes and Safari etc Updates.

Feb 26, 2014 3:21 PM in response to yax412by Souwester,Well having done the updates to iOS and iTunes, I can happily report that the sync process is still f****d
Not syncing all songs, and reporting lack of memory when there's more than adequate. After the partial sync this evening, which took four hours, iTunes showed a sudden jump in 'Other' usage to 1.42Gb.
-
Feb 26, 2014 4:24 PM in response to Souwesterby arkady1,Thanks, Souwester for your letting us know!
A few Qs:
What Mac OS are you running?
Re: lack of memory -- Look in your iTunes Folder - Do you see a lot of .temp files? If Yes, Quit your iTunes, and Delete them All! See http://j.mp/1c9GIl6 about that!
It's not clear what "lack of memory" refers to - Disk Space or Which Memory?
As to iTunes showed a sudden jump in 'Other' usage to 1.42Gb. -- here is what I learnt from Senior Advisors at AppleCare:
If iOS doesn't know how to interpret some of the Music Songs or Other Content that is being Synced, it stores both versions of Duplicate Songs etc.
Right now, with 25,380 Songs already Synced (took me 4 Overnight Syncs!!!!), my Other Space is 1.90 GB. Right after Restore as New, as after Restore from Backup, but with No Music, that Other Space is 258 MB!
If you DON'T see any Other / Yellow at the bottom of the iTunes Window, on the Status Bar, than that is WRONG = PROBLEM, they way I understand it! To me, that 258 or 285 GB Other Space is HEALTHY!!! If my 1.90 GB Suddenly jumps to 4 or 5 or 10 - 20 GBs, then it's a Problem, and the Only Way to Reduce it is to do the Restore As New, then Restore from Backup, unless your iPhone is Jailbroken, and you know exactly which Folder to get into and what to Trash from iPhone! I AM NOT brave enough to play Jailbrake Games!!!!
In Short… You are OK with only 1.42 GB of Other Space! I used to have more than 2 or 3 GB of Other Space. I was able to Reduce it by doing a lot of "House Keeping" in my iTunes Library:
Delete Duplicates
But be careful there… iTunes is not always "smart" about Duplicates! Multiple Songs can have the Same Name, yet different Durations, or even Artists etc, and iTunes will display them in its Duplicates Search Results! That is silly, and I hope Apple will improve that and many other aspects of iTunes!
Make sure you don't have Missing Orphaned Files in iTunes! See http://j.mp/1hAj2UJ I used Mac App Store - TrackSift http://j.mp/1pv3qYe to Delete my Orphaned Tracks! I just saw this App - SuperSync http://j.mp/1bMYlXD - that claims -
Identify partial albums, corrupt files, and other common music library problems
I'll be asking them to explain what this means EXACTLY:
corrupt files, and other common music library problems
In any case… iTunes Libraries are often not as Clean and Healthy as they could be! That gives gives some Tech Support people an "Out", an EXCUSE to Blame Users, instead of Really Trying to Fix The Problem! Example:
In my AppleCare Case, they tried to blame my Audio Hijack Pro Tracks, and LAME Encoding, http://lame.sourceforge.net used by Audio Hijack Pro being the Cause of this Slow Music Sync! As I wrote in my previous Comments, I THINK I was able to Prove it to AppleCare that it's the Large Number of Short Songs that is being Synced -- THAT is the Problem! I had them Watch My Screen in Real Time, and we so only SLIGHT Improvement of 6 Seconds? Maybe, when Syncing 600 Songs, each being 1 Minute Long, ALL Songs with Exactly Same Meta Data, except for Time Stamps at the Beginning of Each Song's Name!
But again, many of us need to do Our Homework - iTunes Libraries are often not as Clean and Healthy as they could be!
In any Case, my Library is A LOT CLEANER, HEALTHIER that it was before I Updated my iPhone 4S to iOS 7! But, with ALL its IMPERFECTIONS, my iTunes Library was WORKING FINE, before iOS 7 Update:
I've been using this Audio Hijack Pro 2.8.3 for YEARS, and it WORKED with iOS 6.1.3 and Previous Version of iTunes 11.1.2 under Mac OS 10.8.5 Prior to 10.8.5 Supplemental Update, where I chose ALL Installers in in Software Update!
So… I will be doing ALL I CAN to make my iTunes Library as HEALTHY as I know how, so that AppleCare has NONE or Less Excuses to blame 3rd Party Content, or my Library!!!
Hopefully this SLOW UNRELIABLE SYNCING OF MUSIC to my iOS Devices will be FIXED ASAP!!!
This Discussion now has 55 Pages - so it's not like only a Few Users are having Problems Syncing their Music!!!
I'll say it again:
Dear Apple!
I have a TON of Logs and Notes on this Case!
I'd love to Share them with you!
Call me, and I will give you plenty time, and will answer all your Qs!
I am a very experienced user, and Huge Apple Fan for YEARS!
This Horrible Situation is a Big Heartbreak for me, and, as you cane see in this Discussion, PLENTY other people!
Thanks in advance for your help!
Stay tuned, and I'll let you know tomorrow how my Sync worked with this New iTunes 11.1.5 Update!
I'd Appreciate some LIKES, so that I know for sure that SOMEONE actually read my Comments! Otherwise, maybe I am being to naive and altruistic about trying to Help All Of Us and Apple to Solve this Mystery!!!! It takes TIME to write Detailed Comments like this...
