Going to the Philippines with my macbook

I got my first mac product a week ago and I love it. I bought it so I'll have something to do on a flight to the Philippines (20 hours). I know once I land there I would need to re-charge it. Their voltage is 220v, 60 cycles. What are my options? Do I need to buy an adaptor? I heard from a salesman at the 5th Avenue Apple Store that I should be OK. Please advise. I don't want my laptop to blow up. Thanks! - a new apple fan, MM, NYC

User uploaded fileYou can do one of two things…

1) Buy yourself a standard US to Philippines plug adapter from and travel/department store and use that.

2) Buy yourself the Apple World Travel Kit.

Electrically the MacBook's power adapter will be fine as it is capable of handling 100-240V. While the first option is probably simpler and allows you to use other electrical devices the second option is "prettier" as it's a collection of the white adapter plugs that goes straight into your MacBook adapter.

One thing I do recommend is you get yourself a laptop surge protector like the APC Notebook Surge Protector.

Hi. You shouldn't have any problem with the 220v and 60 cycles. I bought my Al Pbook in San Jose, Calif about 3 years ago and am currently using it in the Philippines. What you do have to buy is an adaptor as the electric sockets in the country are different from the US. The Philippines services both 110 v and 220 v.
