Dec 23, 2013 10:04 AM in response to AmishCakeby workingcars,Oh believe me i have, just fed up of seeing the same work around for this posted again and again when it is really not an answer...!!!
If everyone that posted on here field a grievance through the feedback system, it may get answered, but they don't...!!!

Dec 23, 2013 10:43 AM in response to MiataMike1by MiataMike1,Part of the problem is that people read the first post, come up with a solution idea, but don't really check the middle 8 pages of posts to see if the idea has already been suggested. However, it does get old posting "that solution has been suggested before but there are the following considerations ..." over and over again. Add on top of that the frustration of Apple continuing to ignore the problem.
Remember, count slowly to 25 first, then compose your post ....

Dec 23, 2013 11:00 AM in response to MiataMike1by Swampy Mike,Part of the problem is the forum itself - threading your way through all the posts, some of which are rants against Apple (understandable), some are the same repeated thing about Home Videos - repeated over and over again, you can miss where someone has suggested the same thing......
My response was specific to the home sharing issue, and works.
So now I won't bother responding to this forum, but will keep any solution I find to myself.....

Dec 26, 2013 9:45 AM in response to AmishCakeby igirl1,Exactly. >>>>> NO ONE FROM APPLE READS THIS FORUM! <<<<<
Bummer this has not been fixed. I do not sync/copy movies into my iPads - we stream them from the desktop iTunes over WLAN. Having no directory is absoutely insane.
I aso noticed all our library went from "Movies" to "Home Movies" on our Apple TV after migrating to a new Mac/updating to Mavericks.
To fix this I went into iTunes/Movies - Select ALL>Get Info>(Multiple Item Selection)>Options/Media Kind and changed them back to Movies
This didn't fix the broken directory iOS problem, but got them back to Movies in the Apple TV vs Home Movies.

Jan 12, 2014 4:32 AM in response to Slewfoot4by workingcars,Really?
Did you read what has already been suggested...?
This is hardly a work a round, and has already been discounted and answered enough times...
So please tell me with this wonderful solution, how does this affect my library on my 4 Apple TV...?
Was that considered, or should I have to change it every time I want to watch something on there as well?
A workaround would mean it is usable, this makes it even more unusable for the rest of the house, it also takes out all of the restrictions where children are concerned with age limits...
Nice to see that there are some helpful answers that others may want, but not helpful when consideration isn't given to the bigger picture and what could essentially mean kids have access to a lot more than they bargained for as a result...
Help is only help when it is correct, and the answer being continuously given does not help... Unless of course you only have an IOS device with a few films... Which is not what was asked originally...

Feb 6, 2014 1:57 PM in response to sendittomeby Hanuman Hoffman,One doesn't have to go through movies changing one by one.
I had this same issue.
Select all the movies, >command i >videos > options > choose >Home video
I will go change that setting in all the movies.
The changes will take awhile, depending upon your computer.
It did allow me to find the movies by title in the iPad.

Feb 6, 2014 2:45 PM in response to MiataMike1by MiataMike1,As noted earlier, changing the type to HOME VIDEO, still doesn't fix the HOME SHARING display of available movies.

Really! Mine is fine .
So the video list displayed for HOME SHARING shows a file name caption on your iPad/iPhone?

Mar 10, 2014 4:26 PM in response to MiataMike1by Scott Newman,Just updated to iOS 7.1 on my iPhone 5. Guess what? STILL NO MOVIE NAMES WHEN USING HOME SHARING. I can't believe this. It's completely useless to use home sharing to view movies on a home media server via home sharing. Seriously...this is ridiculous.
