Q: My ipad VIDEOS app doesn't show the movie Names with IOS 7

I just upgraded to IOS 7.  The Apple VIDEOS app no longer displays the file name for videos that don't have album art.  I have to tap on each video screen shot (which is typically meaningless) to bring up the info/play screen to see the movie's "Name".  Under IOS 6.1.4 (and prior versions) the VIDEOS app displayed the .mp4 file name underneath all videos without album art.

Is there an option to set to get the "Name" displayed on the VIDEOS main screen, or get a LIST view rather than an icon view, using IOS 7? (I have not found one)

Since most of my movies do not have album art this makes the VIDEOS app virtually useless.

The App was OpenPlayerHD Lite. It provided access to the iPads's movie and music library in a very nice list view.

I'm not sure whether it will give you access to Home Sharing.  For some reason that feature is flakey at my house and is not working right now.

What is the name of the video player app that allows access to the itunes video?

I want a video player that works with "Home Sharing". Then my 4 AppleTVs and my two iPad are looking a the same videos.

I am using an app called Moli Player and it workes to view videos in a WD My Book Live NAS drive I setup with a second set of my Videos.

Having the same annoying issue and I tried to update the artwork on the first twenty or so movies out of the two hundred plus I have. The only problem is is that sometimes the artwork shows up on the incorrect movies and makes that basically just as useless. Anyone else having similar issues?

Are these movies loaded to the iPad or are your viewing them through Home Sharing.  I initially had numerious problems with the correct artwork displaying in the Home Sharing list.

Just on Home Sharing that is really an issue.  Since I have that I don't load any on my ipad unless I'm going out of town.

djw043000, I had issues with Home Sharing icons.  It was like there was a cache that wasn't getting cleared.  It was device specific too, as my iPhone showed Home Sharing icons fine but my iPad didn't.  Very strange.

By disabling Home Sharing on the ipad and through iTunes a couple of times, it eventually cleared up and works fine now.  Sorry I can't say exactly what I did to clear it out, only that I have seen your issue.

I had the same problem. The only solution that I discovered was to reclassify every movie as a "Home Video". After I did that everything appeared as before. It is a real PIA (I have over 700 movies), but it was the only thing that worked for me, and believe me I tried every other sugesstion in this forum! It is sad that Apple has lost direction since Jobs died. The new crew should be working for Microsoft! Every software upgrade, including Maverick, is a complete disaster!

    iChas

Two things.  First: changing all your 700 movies  Media Kind to "Home Videos" is no big  deal because you can in iTunes in list view select all the movies and then go to Get info, under options change the Media Kind to "Home Videos".   Hold down the Option Key when you press the OK putton. NOTE:  All the items you select have to be the same kind.

The Second is :   The pproblem I and some others are having is with the Video App on the iPad. When you click on "Sharing" ( to see all the movies being shared out by iTunes with Home Sharing turned on. ) that is where the titles are missing.

    TW,

Thanks! I did initially make all the changes in iTunes using your method. However, when the videos were transferred to my iPad they did not work. I do not know why, but to make it work I had to do them individually in iTunes. In any instance, as loyal Mac customers, we should not have to scramble to find work arounds everytime Apple decides to change an operating system. I wanted to buy my wife a new iPad for her upcoming birthday, but she said there is know way she is going to upgrade and have even more problems.

The Apple 'Videos' app has always been a bit rubbish. Now it is even worse.

To have to mark everything as a 'Home Video' to get the titles - and then only a truncated version - is a joke for a company that supposedly prides itself on user experience.

A list view would be nice, either with or without thumbnails, just like in iTunes on a PC/Mac. Not difficult.

In fact, I might get my son to write me an app to do it. It cannot be that difficult.

Ya loss of all the names, plus my movie icons changed to different album covers is tough to tell what movie is what. Hope they fix it soon.

Get him to put it in the App Store, charge $1 a copy and he will make a mint ...

I agree, give us some view options like regular folders (thumbnails, covers, list, detail).

I suspect they turned off titles on Movies for motion picture industry protection, since "all" published commercial movies should have a suitable cover showing the title with other cheesy graphics.  Thereby, making it harder to see what you might have obtained without paying the necessary royalties.

Home Videos will cover everything else and might not have a cover, so the need to show titles, truncated nonetheless.

With iOS 7 and changes made to iTunes, Apple is definitely heading down a different path.  Not sure if it is a good one, though.

    Apple, pull your finger out...!!!

we have 4 ipads in this household, and none of us are impressed, since we have 1 computer which ALL ipads are synced with which is purely for media, this creates huge problems...!!!

    51920 Songs

    1182 Movies

1458 Episodes of verious TV shows

    and nearly 600 Home Movies...!!!

And now i have to rename or reclassify because you decided that having a name displayed is "untidy"...???

    How arrogant is that...!!!

Gives us the choice so WE can decide what we want and what is usable...!!!
