Oct 2, 2013 6:16 PM in response to viperman17by flexmarketman,Found another small, but illustrative example of something that Steve Jobs would never have allowed.
Adding a blue dot in front of an application's name is now the indicator for an app that has been recently downloaded. My IOS 6 icons have a nice banner saying "NEW" strapped across the front.

Whlie I'm sure I'll get slammed by the digerati fanboys here, I'd like to know which of these two is more intuitive for the typical user?

Oct 2, 2013 6:30 PM in response to Major_Tom007by gifts4me,I am with Verizon, and even though my 4s is only 10 months old they sold me another one, did not swap it out. I had an upgrade coming from my daughters line, took that and it is the best $119.00 I have sent in the last week. got back my IOs6 and am happy. Now the darn thing keeps telling me to update my software in my settings tab and it only says install now -no decline, don't ask again button. Want it to go away Really Apple??
Will either sell my 10 month old phone or just keep it and use as a pic, music, ipod ..... Some might think this avenue crazy but if it was the only way not to deal with 7 ..... Was going to buy an ipad but will now go the competition route...

Oct 2, 2013 6:33 PM in response to gagc1by gifts4me,That is what I did but had to pay for it, they did not swap it out because my phone is a 10 month old (almost new) phone.. Oh well, I am where I want to be without being forced to use something I don't want to use.. Good Luck! My carrier is Verizon by the way.

I'll assume since the button is now an "Install" button the iOS 7 download has already been downloaded and prepared (extracted) and is ready to install...and it's also likely holding up 3.1 GB of your storage space hostage with no way to get rid of it.
Also,
See this thread in which I have written a work-around:

Mine did the same thing and I followed the instructions below to keep Apple from jamming the iOS 7 upgrade onto my device. Worked great.

Re: how do i uninstall IOS7
Sep 28, 2013 2:36 PM (in response to celliot9999)
if you didnt upgrade and dont want to be disturbed everytime by the OS asking if you want to upgrade it.. here is the advice..
1- backup your iphone on itunes
2- perfome factory reset (it will wipe out the iOS7 from your iphone, if already downloaded)
3- restore it using itunes
4- disable wifi right after restored (to avail auto download again of iOS7)
5- fill up your iphone with photos or musics, leave less than 3GB free.
Now, if you go to Settings -> General -> Software update .. You will see msg like this:
There is no way to install the upgrade because you need at least 3.2gb free
Cheers

Oct 2, 2013 6:45 PM in response to gifts4meby Major_Tom007,I have Verizon also. My iphone4 is only 10 months old as well, so it is still covered under the 1 year manufacturer warranty. Even though it is a software issue, they agreed to swap it for me. I assume they will send it back to Apple as a defective device. It took several calls to them for this to happen. As they say, the squeeky wheel gets the grease! Hope it all works out for you.

Oct 2, 2013 6:47 PM in response to gifts4meby jmimac351,The instructions above won't remove ios7 if the upgrade has been installed and currently running onbyourbdevice. It removes the ios7 upgrade data that has downloaded to your device (and taking up storage space) that is waiting for you to press the "install now" button. Don't press that button...

Hmm, with IOS 6 I only had the NEW banner across an icon for a new app, never for an updated app. In fact, when I updated any app, there was no indication. Only reason I knew was because I had manually updated the app. Now with auto update I appreciate an indication that update to an app has taken place.

Oct 2, 2013 8:33 PM in response to Romplestiliskinby gail from maine,Not sure what you are talking about. I have an iPhone 4, and iOS 7 and it works perfectly fine. What do you mean it will not work well? I have no issues with anything, and the added security which makes my phone pretty much useless to any would-be thieves....
Can you clarify what "it will work on the older devices.....it will NOT work well, though" means?
Cheers,

Oct 2, 2013 11:24 PM in response to viperman17by MustangJim1,Steve Jobs where are you???
Everything about this pastel cartoon **** upgrade is horse manure. As a business owner I live and die by calendar, contacts and notes. Apple manage to screw-up and downgrade all 3.
Calendar used to be so awesome, readable, editable. Could see my 5-7 daily appoints easily. Turn it sideways see the whole week in a nice format. ios 7 NEW: have no clue if its AM or PM on the screen. Sometimes defaults to 2am. Lists are gone.
Notes. iOS 6 - background looked like a yellow lined paper which was actually useful for larger notes. Very readable. Ios7 - white background with black text, just like notepad in Windows 3.1.
Contacts ios6 - beautiful well defined fields. Ios7 same boring black text, white background.
Did anyone test out these new "down grades". iOS upgrades are supposed to make our life easier, access data quicker and look beautiful.
**** you Apple, **** you to ****! For screwing up these apps like that. NO ONE can seriously say that Calendar, Notes, and Contacts is an improvement over iOS 6

And you "know" this how? Were you a personal friend of Steve?
Do you have a connection to the great beyond that allows you
to speak to him?
Assuming what a dead person would think is absurd!
(BTW, the candy colored iMacs and candy colored clamshell
iBooks were released when Steve returned to Apple)
