I see no performance loss, because unlike you, I actually own and use iOS devices, I know how to maintain them, I'm not a compulsive troll, and no one is paying me to be a shill.

last I checked, our ipads and our  iphones were all ios devices.  I forgot about our atv 2.   Oh and our airport router but that isn't an IOS device.... yea we don't use any of them.   you got me.

Get yer popcorn here!  Hot, buttery popcorn!  Grab a chair, buy a program!  Can't tell the players from one another without a program folks!

would you be willing to share your tips on how to maintain them?  All I've done in the past with the previous IOS's is charge them and occasionally clean the screen.  They worked like champs. I wouldn't have bought so many IOS devices for family if they didnt.

Backup the data on the devices regularly to either iTunes or iCloud.  For starters.

Maintain? Curious what you mean? I back up, etc. What would someone do to "maintain" an ios device? I'll take any advice I can get.

Is this type of response/hostility really necessary?

I took it as entertaining,  I like popcorn, however using an iPhone while eating buttery popcorn makes the screen messy.

I agree though about the maintain IOS device... it's not like a windows computer where you have to do a virus scan, cleanup, system reinstall on a regular basis. The IOS devices really don't have any maintaining to do for them, they just work. And worked quite well prior to IOS 7.  I'm sure IOS 7 will run great once all the bugs are ironed out but in the meantime, my opinion ( and yes we all have one of those and a bunghole)  is that they should allow a reinstall of the old IOS until the bugs are worked.   One of the benefits of using Microsoft products is they usually allow anyone to try beta versions of their upcoming  operating systems for quite a long time before the final release.  Not so for IOS.

    It's called a joke.

I believe there is a 'Sense of Humor' App available as a free download in the App Store.  Might be worth looking into!

I politely disagree.  The iOS 7 beta was available to registered developers, and anyone can become a registered developer.

"Maintain" includes restarts and resets at the right time, clearing out junk and corrupt data from the phone, restoriing when necessary, proper charge cycles and battery drain settings, knowing when and what to do in low signal areas, etc.  Not to mention never hacking...

It also means employing analytic thinking to solve problems rather than the "PHONE NO  WORK GOOD, APPLE BAD, APPLE *****, I HATE APPLE   method.

although this forum is the place for downgrade

No, it's not a place to discuss downgrading. And you're going to have to make your own decision about what phone is best for you.

    Best of luck.

    thanks for your advice

still I would like to share my ambivalent choice here

I will absolutely miss many 7 features

but it in many ways it is just not right for me

I would really like to use the 5s

but only with altered color scheme

    and better legibility of iOS7

with pain in my heart I ordered a 4s/6

pain is only from being an unhappy fanboy

who is forced to get a new phone

just because he is not allowed

to go back when he temporary wants to..

resetting device, do that whenever it seems to need it,   clearing out junk , sure but probably has no affect on performance just storage,   How do I adjust the battery drain setting?  Thats first I've heard of that setting.  And as far as low signal area,  you deal with it if you want phone reception or you got to airplane mode. plain and simple.  None of your maintenance really helps the performance of the operating system other than the reset.

Just for the record, my household loves Apple,  we also love microsoft ( except for windows 8) .  I never said I hate Apple  just not happy with the new IOS.  Really looking forward to the new iPad ( and possibility of it having the A7, 64 bit).  Gonna be tough to decide between the mini and the regular.
