why take the 2011 technology by ordering a 4S?  Have some patience that the IOS 7 issues will be ironed out. What if apple releases a ios 7.whatever and it fixes everything you hate about it ?

clearing out junk , sure but probably has no affect on performance just storage,

Clearing out corrupted data can have a big effect on performance.  That's what causes freezes, slowing of video responses, and outright crashes

How do I adjust the battery drain setting? Thats first I've heard of that setting.

Huh?  I said settingS:  There are many articles on what to set.

    http://howto.cnet.com/8301-11310_39-57604792-285/for-longer-battery-life-change- these-ios-7-settings/

And as far as low signal area,  you deal with it if you want phone reception or you got to airplane mode. plain and simple.

Much more to it than that.  Disabling LTE can avoid hunting and drain.  In some areas disabling cell data altogether helps.  In crappy WiFi environments disabling WiFi is needed. Disabling "Ask ti Join Networks" is always helpful

None of your maintenance really helps the performance of the operating system other than the reset.

How would you know - you don't even know what they are, understand them, or ever have done them.  But, never let abject ignorance stand in your way....

The FACT is iOS 7 hasn't slowed down my wife's iPhone 4, and iPad 3 or my iPad 2.  Your previous response was that the fanboy coolaid must be blinding me, but the truth is that you're blowing it out of your posterior orifice.

I agree,  99 bucks and you can try out the new IOS before everyone else.

Bad idea.  The betas, particularly early ones are very buggy.  They are not meant to be run on everyday personal use devices - they're for beta testing and app development only.  There is no support and installing them voids your warranty.

This forum was full of posts from yahoos who bricked their phones with the beta- all were deleted, none given any help.  Even the dev beta forum won't help you if you don't already know what you're doing

That's why I didn't run it on my 'every-day' device. I ran it on my test device.

Then don't suggest that others pay $99 in order to "try before buying" the new iOS.  They still can't go back to the old version.  None will be getting another phone to install it.

Read it in context.  ActIII said there was no way to 'demo' iOS 7 before it released.  I pointed out that there was a way.  I never said that I recommended anyone use that method, just that it existed.

Combine that with the fact tht I've ALWAYS been saying to wait to update if you have concerns, and check out a 'demo' device at a local store.  There are ways to demo iOS 7 before installing it.

ignorance?  look at your maintenance suggestions,  the only thing that would affect the OS performance is resetting the phone.

All the other "maintenance" options you mentioned  are either for battery life or storage.

The iPhone 5 has 1 gig or whatver RAM for running the IOS,  the rest is internal storage for apps or data, whether it be 16, 32 or 64 gig.

Low wifi or LTE signal will affect battery life, does it affect the lag in using the OS?

Corrupt data?  reset the phone to clear out the RAM.

Oh and back at you, how would you know?

The corrrupt data isn't in RAM genius. It's app data, media, etc. When used, it causes freezes, lags, outright app crashes. The only way to rid it is to restore.

Low wifi or LTE signal will affect battery life, does it affect the lag in using the OS?

Hunting back and forth from LTE to UMTS to WiFi hits processor cycles and can cause lags.

I didn't see that post before it was deleted, but found it in my email. Same for the post quoting the removal email from the hosts, which aslo got deleted. Brilliant!!  You did that all on your own.

    Worth every penny, IMHO.

What's the "context" here?.  You are clearly agreeing that  it's worth it to "try out" the iOS.

It was in the context of it was worth it to ME.  You've inferred incorrectly.
