Without more context, that's a meaningless point. Who's to say it wasn't a cheap 3rd party battery, which are notorious for exploding; there have been similar scares in thepast about Nokia phones, only for the culprit to have been found to be a cheapo, low-quality battery.

You do realize when you have Android( if you aren't a low tech pleb ) it doesn't matter when the update comes. You can usually get an updated version quickly along with multiple choices to how the OS itself looks and works, iPhones aren't bad hardware but they are priced more than they should excluding maybe the 5s just because of the name behind it. The OS is far too locked down and Android offers a great solution to people who don't want to be told how and what their OS should be like. Don't bash something because you personally had a bad experience. I really dislike ios in general because of the way I use my phones, but I can still accept that until now it's been a really reliable OS.
