If you google news for how to downgrade from iOS 7 from the author Simon Hill from Digital Trends, you will get an article that poorly explains what needs to be done. If you catch the first sentence or two, you will see what you should've done a long time ago to be able to downgrade. Once again, I am not impressed with the author. It shows you how poorly trained journalists are becoming. Also, comments criticising the writer for the most part are all deleted. In any event, it's pretty much impossible to downgrade. A lot of the apps that do not require jailbreaking your iPhone won't work for 6.1.4.
Interesting catch, Romplestiltskin. The article does specify that it does only apply to the iPhone 4, and not any devices newer, so I'd read it closely and consider if it was something I'd want to try or not. From my cursory read, it will only help BRAVE 4 users. Thanks for pointing it out.

Thank you for you kind words.
Another upgrade! I don't think I will chance that! I haven't recovered from this last one. I envy you that you had the knowledge to not upgrade. I have learned a hard lesson, Apple calls the shots.
Here's a link to an article showing what it addresses. Check it out before you decide. Can't hurt to study up

Oct 22, 2013 11:40 PM in response to GryphonLAby Carsten-dk,Yes and who takes a SHSH blob of a device, before updating. I know I didn't, but if apple ever let us downgrade I will be more carfull to update the software. Usually I don't think much about the possible problems in update, cause I can always go back.....but not this time. As BTW55 said, we own the devises, and we should be the one who deside if we want to downgrade. Sinse I started working with computers in the beginning of the 1990s, no other company (to my knowledge ) has blocked there customers from installing an earlier version of an operating system, IOS, Linux, UNIX or Windows.
That's not a good customer policy.

Oct 23, 2013 1:42 AM in response to modular747by flibbertygibbet,And there you are again. Nothing useful to say, just putting everyone else down, and in the process making yourself look like an arrogant **** (insert favourite insult here).
What you don't seem to realise is that everyone else's opinion is just as valid (or invalid) as yours, and that virtually no-one finds your consant abusive put-downs anything but slightly pathetic.

Actually, I find it rather amusing that people keep rising to the bait. Remember playground rules: when someone teases you, ignore them.

Oct 23, 2013 7:52 AM in response to modular747by irishelf67,Not everyone lives near an Apple store or has a way to get to one. Many people having problems with ios 7 are visually impaired (something mentioned many times which you seem to ignore). That means we can't drive. I live in a state with no public transportation between counties and the nearest Apple store is in another county. That means visiting an Apple store just to check out every Apple update is out of the question. The only places I can check out updates are local stores like Target, Walmart and Best Buy, all whom still have ios6 on the Apple devices on display. Perhaps those stores feel the product won't sell once prospective buyers view ios 7!

I'm sorry, I thought this was an 'Apple Support Communities' Forum where those of us not well versed in all things Apple could discuss our problems and get sensible answers. I didn't realise it was a Kindergarten forum where anyone who couldn't get on with ios 7 was labelled an idiot and only worthy of insulting answers.

Oct 23, 2013 9:10 AM in response to Jetjayby BTW55,Thanks, I was always told the only dumb question was the one that was never asked. Thanks for understanding some of us are still learning. And at least we consider ourselves teachable.
Any Appls store is 2 hours away, so irishelf67, I sympathize with your situation.
Wow, didn't realize this forum was a place to belittle people. My original post was definitely a venting process and I appreciate the responses of people who understood my frustration. I was already treated by Apple support as ignorant and unimportant, thought this forum was as Jetjay said a place to get help. This is a cruel enough world, why can't people take the time to show kindness.
Thanks to all of you who have helped me. Have a great day!

That's a great workaround for those who want to get back to iOS6, Irish. I never would have thought to check the outstanding stock at the big box stores, but it does make sense that they would keep things until they could sell them. (Does anyone know if Apple even accepts back unsold stock from their authorized resellers?)
I bet that they get a bump in people asking for the older devices once more people who aren't happy with the upgrade find out. Sorry for the complications in your situation because of the distance, but you came up with a nice alternative. Thanks!

Oct 23, 2013 10:16 AM in response to viperman17by 34SF,It is obvious that Apple is not going to re-authorize signing of iOS6 without consumer pressure. Comments on this board are doing nothing except animating the Apple drones. I filed a complaint with the Cupertino Better Business Bureau. The initial response I got from Apple was that I agreed to the user agreement. In other words, they don't care. Perhaps if those of you who feel as I do, (that iOS7 is a mess and Apple violated our trust with an almost compulsory "update") will file complaints in the public forum, it will help make a difference.
All they have to do is allow signing for the iOS6 install. All I have to do is not buy another Apple product.

And that's your right. Exercise it, please.
As a shareholder, I do NOT want the company bowing to pressure from uninformed and ignorant consumers that fail to understand the legal agreements they signed or the technological ramifications of a downgrade.

Or with it, since the vast majority of consumers aren't interested.

Which is factually and legal correct. What's your point?

Which is a violation of the Terms of Use. this is a technical support forum, not a whine fest.

That is certainly your perogative. And most of us here are seriously hoping that what you do.

Yeah, it probably won't happen without a great deal of consumer pressure, but unfortunately, I don't see that happening. Even with a 20-25% unsatisfactory/unhappy rate, there most likely won't be enough backlash to pull this off as most unhappy users are resigned to the new UI or will have migrated out.
Have you heard about the user up in the Bay Area who is suing Tim Cook in small claims court? All he's asking for is $50.00 and for them to remove the pending update (uninstalled) from his drive. That's one i could get behind very easily. I didn't upgrade but still had it force-downloaded to my devices until I learned a way to get rid of it.

Part of getting the pending update out was to reset my ipad. In doing so, the User Agreement came up, and part of it does state that, by agreeing, we allow Apple to submit updates to us. Not exactly those words, but that's the gist. So they do have that coverage.
