Oct 24, 2013 11:31 PM in response to WDIby Alfred DeRose,WDI, most of your gripes have solutions. this thread is already muddy enough. You can do a seach of the threads for each of your issues and will probably find something that can at least mitigate your complaint if not solve it outright.
One example, the status bar is transparent so obviously will look something like what is behind it. Turn off transparency in Settings > General > Accessibility > Increase Contrast.

Oct 24, 2013 11:37 PM in response to BTW55by Alfred DeRose,BTW55, It's interesting that it works for Apple's backgrounds though. Try it with some of the built-in white or light colored background images. The text turns black.

Oct 24, 2013 11:40 PM in response to viperman17by 34SF,Isn't it odd that a solution to most problems with the "world's best operating system" invariably involves disableing something within the iOS?

Oct 24, 2013 11:42 PM in response to meganutsby Alfred DeRose,Meganuts, the built-in zoom feature doesn't help you with this? Turn on Settings > Accessibility > Zoom.
Be sure to read the instructions for use on that page. The forums are full of people who don't know how to turn off zoom.

Oct 25, 2013 8:06 AM in response to modular747by irishelf67,I am legally blind and cannot read anything in ios 7, even with all visual accessibility options on! Just because your friend who is supposedly legally blind says they have no trouble with ios7 (which I find very difficult to believe, because there have been many posts both in here and other forums from visually impaired peole who say they can't read anything in ios7 because of the font and color contrast issues), doesn't mean the rest of us don't. It might have something to do with the type of visual disability. I have pathological myopia, astigmatism and myopic macular degeneration. For me to read something, I need large thick fonts with good constrast (black on white, white on black, etc.). I have had problems using itunes ever since the last update because of the same issues-tiny font which is grey on white. I cannot read descriptions, reviews, price or anything but the title of apps, songs, tv shows, etc. I have to Google the title on my Macbook and find the info on other sites because itunes is almost as unreadable as ios 7!

Oct 25, 2013 8:18 AM in response to irishelf67by humannwong,IOS 7.0.3 helps a little bit. At least less animation! Hope that Apple improves the fonts and provide an option to change the phonebook photos back to Square one! Why circle? Smaller and useless!

Oct 25, 2013 8:23 AM in response to meganutsby irishelf67,Not for me. Even with the magnifying glass over the number, I couldn't read it! But when the next poster showed what it looked like in ios 6 (without a magnifying glass), I could read it. The posters who insist using the visual accessibility options will help have no clue. And I'll repeat what I said before-when people who AREN'T visually impaired need to turn on visual accessibility options to use their device THAT IS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THE OS!

Oct 25, 2013 8:31 AM in response to irishelf67by Bmxracer546,Everyone. I believe the question was answered. If y'all want to talk then trade phone numbers or e-mails. My email is being spammed from all these unnecessary replies.

Oct 25, 2013 8:51 AM in response to irishelf67by Kenneth Collins1,It would depend on the type of visual impairment. Because the colors are so weird, I wonder if whoever chose them has some form of color perception deficiency. How else can we explain why the "tap here to return to call" text is almost impossible to read against the bar with the background in the very strange luminescent shade of green?
I have a friend who has severe colorblindness. The only color he can see is blue, and for him, anything that is blue is incredibly beautiful. Other colors are just shades of gray. If he sees red and green next to each other, they are the same color for him if they have the same grey factor. When IOS7 came out, I described the interface to him--all white with extremely light gray lines and very bright colors that might all have the same gray value. His remark was, "That might be completely invisible to me." I don't know if he "upgraded" to IOS7, but I'm sure he tested it for visibility.

Oct 25, 2013 9:11 AM in response to viperman17by Stanleylpearson,I agree wholeheartedly. What were they thinking. iOS 6 was so much easier to read. Looked bold and professional. the minute I downloaded iOS 7 I was surprised and disappointed. After working with it for several weeks. Still disappointed. Don't like it. It is a step backwards. I have not upgraded my wife's iPhone 5, so when I look at her phone . . . I am envious. Again, this is not like Apple to make such a change that alienates their customers. Wow!

Oct 25, 2013 9:12 AM in response to Kilgore-Troutby Bmxracer546,I thought this community thing was for asking a question. I didn't know it was a social network. Who said it was just for me? When a question is answered then that means it answered. Does not mean talk about something that has nothing to do with the question. What's the point of having a conversation on here? We get that a lot of you do not like IOS 7. But stop complaining about it because it's not anyone's fault but yours. Apple didn't make you download IOS 7. A lot of people like IOS 7 but after they download it they "hate" it. You liked IOS 7 enough to download it. It was on apple and they showed what IOS 7 looked like and what it could do. Then after downloading it people just want something to complain about. Get over it. YOU downloaded IOS 7 because YOU LIKE it. (You as in all)

Oct 25, 2013 9:20 AM in response to Bmxracer546by adamdavid80,The operative word is, as StanleylPearson said, "surprised". Yes, we knew what it looked like, but we didn't know how much beyond mere aesthetic displeasure the design would go - why would we think that Apple - who has historically been the go-to company (especially regarding smartphones) for accessability and ease of use - create a design that would be difficult for some users?
We also downloaded it bc we know that, you either evolve or die. Apple's going to do what Apple is goign to do, and it's not wrong for us to place a trust in the company that we have invested so much in and enjoyed for decades.
Now evolve or die could refer to us, the consumers. We either get on board with ios 7 or get left behind from a lot of the goodies it offers UNDER THE HOOD. OR - it could mean we move on to other devices and Apple's market share continues to erode.
One thing is for sure - between the number of issues that arose between Maps and this - Apple is no longer regarded as the sure-footed champion it once was.

I'm not complaining about iOS 7 (in fact I'm one of those who likes it). Having an opinion about it isn't the point. What is pertinent is that you are out of line making a blanket request to participants to stop posting because you don't like getting email alerts. If you don't want the alerts, change your email settings.
