I don't think so. I remember looking at a friend's iPhone when he first got it, and - yeah - it was love at first sight. The layout, the colors, the simplicity, etc.

Those graphics may be "out of style" in design circles today, but for most of the public a notepad that looks like a notepad is pretty **** pleasing.

The white type of iOS 7 makes no sense. The text message layout previously was absolutely unimprovable. it was simply RIGHT. You took one look and knew it.

I agree that some people will always be uncomfortable with change. But not everybody loves big bright pastelly colors and tons of whitespace. In that sense, the iOS 7 could make you say "Hey! They're trying something new!" or "***???" But, the aesthetics of 7...not my personal taste.

That's not entirely true. I cannot use ios7 because it is hard to see. It is unusable. It is non-functional. Ios6 was / is legible.

There is something to this that extends far beyond resistence to change. I too agree firmly with irishelf67's assertion that "when people who AREN'T visually impaired need to turn on visual accessibility options to use their device THAT IS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THE OS!"

I am not even close to being legally blind, but ios7 makes me feel like I am. Why should this operating system be so challenging to see?

Are single pixel line weights actually necessary? Does this benefit any user?

    You missed the point entirely.

    "You missed the point entirely."

    Intentionally so.

Look, my battery life on my recently acquired 3GS is starting to fail. What's a guy to do? Get another 3GS? Perhaps. The bottom line is I that I love Apple and feel some sort of weird loyalty. I am resistant to changing brands. I've been there since the beginning.

Me neither! One of the reasons I bought an iPhone was that it is instantly recognisable as a partner to my MacBook - the principal icons (Calendar, Notes, Reminders etc) all had an immediately recognisable family style. This family resemblance is now gone. I may as well buy an Android phone as that looks just the same as the new iPhone. Ironically, at least with an Android phone I could reskin it to look like my MacBook!

Apple have completely lost strategic direction with this blunder.

Is this true? An Android phone can be set up to look like ios6?

Of course it can. An Android phone can be made to look any way you want, in the same way Symbian could, using themes, alternative icon sets, launchers etc.

And just why is this in an apple forum?

Someone asked the question; I answered it. So what's the problem? Or didn't you bother reading anything that lead up to what I posted?

    The real question is,

Can ios7 be made to not have the look and feel of some cheap android knock off?

Is it just the icons you don't like?  If so, there are Apps in the App Store that allow youto customize most icons.

If it is the App functionality you don't like, then there are probably Apps in the App Store that will do the same thing, but with a different appearance.

The real answer is... no, the "look and feel" of iOS7 cannot be changed.

You can't downgrade and they will probably stick with the new look.

I'm not really a fan of the new look either but it is probably what they want you to stick with.
