Dec 3, 2013 9:10 AM in response to AppleTVguyby visualtime,I am thnking exactly the same thing.
I stayed away from Windows and Android phones because of their thin fonts and flimsy UI. They both looked like copies of what I've considered the best - IOS.
But now I look at IOS 7 and it looks like a Windows 8 replica. And I'm stuck with it because there is no way to downgrade. I see this as a major blunder from Apple. I'm not an Apple fan but I love Apple's designs and simplicity.
I am paying the premium for an Iphone instead of a Samsung or Nokia and I expect it to be the absolute best but it's not anymore. It's very sad...

There are many much more signficiant reasons to stay away... You can increase font thickness in iOS 7.
it looks like a Windows 8 replica.
It looks and functions absolutley nothing like win 8.

Since iOS 7 device sales are significanly higher than last year's iOS 6 devices, not at all sad for Apple.

I mean - thanks for enlightening me.

Dec 3, 2013 10:59 AM in response to visualtimeby IdrisSeabright,I regularly use Windows 8 devices. iOS neither looks nor functions like it. I'm quite taken with the tiles interface and wouldn't mind seeing something like it on an iPhone.

Dec 3, 2013 12:19 PM in response to visualtimeby modular747,There is nothing remotely similar between iOS 7 and Win 8 - not the colors. fonts, icons, tiles, anything at all. No one who has ever seen both would confuse them for a nanosecond, let alone think iOS 7 is a "replica."

Dec 3, 2013 12:34 PM in response to modular747by Faterson,The similar thing, to me, is that they both look awful, and I'd stay away from them if given the chance. (I'm still on and will stay on Windows 7, but I made the mistake of upgrading to iOS 7.)

Dec 3, 2013 12:39 PM in response to Fatersonby modular747,So you're saying iOS 6 and Widows 7 are similar since they both look good to you.

Dec 3, 2013 3:15 PM in response to modular747by visualtime,Based on the number of people who have voiced their discontentment, it's pretty clear that the latest iteration of IOS doesn't stand out as one of Apple's greatest moments.
There is no need to try to prove that IOS is better than Android and Windows, etc. We know that. We're talking about the UI here.
The comparison with Windows 8 was merely to point out how things got from an ok UI (the one that does the job) to a UI simplified to the point that has become annoying and hard to use. In other words if Microsoft screwed it and made it worse, Apple followed example.
And there is another resemblance - and actual phyiscal one - the nonsensical flat UI aspect which was actually a great thing in 1987 or so.
Interesting concept which shouldn't have made it into mainstream production but it did.
Although you're drawing your own conclusions based on Faterson's reply, you're basically right: both IOS 6 and Windows 7 are similar in the sense that they both have a better UI than their respective descendants.

This happens on every major iOS update. iOS 7 doesn't stand out as any worse as iOS 6 or iOS 5 to me. People don't like any change at all. The majority of people are perfectly happy with iOS 7.

Dec 3, 2013 4:27 PM in response to viperman17by Maithri,I'd like to approach this dilemma from a different angle. Which Android device/OS version best replicates iOS 6?
I mean, Samsung copied iOS so faithfully, the transition shouldn't be that difficult, right?
