Principles of design are guidelines. Guidelines are not the same as laws, either of man or nature. The idea that they are inviolable or that anything that violates them is automatically bad is just silly. And orthodoxies are challenged all the time. You should read some of the early criticism of the Impressionists.

But more important than the rule of thirds, is the idea that, just becuse people disagree with you, it doesn't mean they're stupid, childish or wrong, espcially in matters of taste and preference.

And there is another resemblance - and actual phyiscal one - the nonsensical flat UI aspect which was actually a great thing in 1987 or so.

You need to educate yourself about the difference between one dimensional and flat design. Just look at the iOS 7 home screen, vs 1987 DOS... Not at all the same.  The pseudo 3d and skeuomorphic designs have been annoying, inefficient, and growing ugly for some time.

Oh, DOS? I feel sorry for you. AmigaOS 1.x, Mac System Software 1.x, GEM... and iOS7 do have a lot in common with those in apparence with its flat design.

There should be a path to downgrade iOS7.

    I paid my money.

I want the freedom to decide.

My iPhone was so **** with iOS7 I smashed it into little pieces.

I used to love Apple products.  Now I hate them.

I will never buy an Apple product again.

So, that means you won't bother posting here anymore. Enjoy whatever phone you get.

    Best of luck.

    Thankyou!

Here's a solution; purchase an iPhone 3GS.  Then you can't 'accidentally' update to iOS 7.

These kinds of posts make me laugh.  Anyone childish enough to destroy an iPhone, when they could easily sell it to another person, or even trade it in at many retail stores for credit or upgrade, is too immature for their opinion to matter.

I see commercials all the time for companies that buy unwanted iPhones.  Gamestop buys iPhones, for example.  Why wouldn't you sell it to them and get cash, instead of throwing a temper tantrum and 'smashing' your phone like you're a petulant child?

Wow!  You really think non-graphical command line and monochorme systems look like iOS 7? Are you visually impairted?

Zero day troll says it smashed its iPhone because of iOS 7. Believable? Hardly. Paid shill? Probably.

I used my iPad 3 for 14 months daily on the original iOS 5.1.1 and it was the best piece of technology I had. Brilliant user interface, instantaneous touch screen feedback, smooth scroll, incredible good keyboard.

I made the mistake to "upgrade" to iOS 7.0.4 less then a week ago and I have a tablet no different as user interface feedback then a cheap no brand eBay tablet.

Sluggish GUI, random delays in browser...

Yes, it works but any tablet will run the apps once launched.

What made a premium product different from the rest of the crowd was erased by the "upgrade" to an OS not ready for the hardware available (use to be the Microsoft way...)

I used to have an iPad and I was proud of it

Now I just have a common tablet

Yes, it can be used but is not the Apple product I had for a year

It looks like current Apple iOS is helping competitors closing the gap. Sorry, the gap is closed, I have a Nexus 5 since 2 week ago and the GUI is as responsive as iOS 5 use to be. And 7 is not at that level not even on iPad 4, from what some say on forums

Beautiful and robust design. What I do not understand is why would you try to cripple something you built to last for years? And 2 major OS releases in a bit over 1 year? Why would you try to fix something when it works?

Let's hope an "iOS 7 starter"will be available soon for previous iPad, iPhones. Take example from M'soft. They that thing right. It took them few years but they realised one size does not fit all.

Do you need technical assistance ?  If so, please state your question.

If not, please give your feedback to Apple at the appropriate location: www.apple.com/feedback

Sorry, what have I done wrong? Top of the page on my browser says discussions.apple.com not support.apple.com

And are 149 pages of hundreds of posts (a exception of a hand full) which I will classify as discussions about a subject with "not allowed" answer

I already used the link you so helpfully provided

This was a mere feedback to a level 6 user statement (not question or answer) as are no more then 100 Apple customers complaining. If anybody is counting, with me are 101.

If not allowed discussions in a discussions forum please free to delete any discussion. Or even simpler, close the thread once a solution is given.

The irony is no answer was given. Initial question was "how to...?" not "Is it possible to....?"

    Thank you
