Then Verizon is helping you to VOID your iPhone warranty right now.

Solution: Call your carrier.  They will roll back to iOS 6 on your iPhone 4 or exchange it for one that has iOS 6 software.  Tech support also said I could do the same at any Apple Store, but I am just going to go to my carrier.

But it sounds like you need to bring the phone in for them to fix it.

There isn't an Apple store in the world that will roll back the OS for you.

I spent all day at the store yesterday. It can't be done.

Verizon can't roll back the phone either. All they can do is trade your phone with one that has not been upgraded. Where I live Verizon won't even offer such a thing. Consider yourself lucky.

    Hi,

I am also looking for a downgrade from ios7 to ios6.  I realize there has never been a downgrade for ios before but this is not ios! Its like a bad theme you cannot change.

    Please make a downgrade possible!

It's hard not to argue with that. I mean, it's black and blue text on a white screen. Was there something in that we were supposed to like?

I'm sure Samsung et al are loving this....

This thread is a real hoot. The orginal post has been answered over and over adnausiam. I really don't think Apple really cares what anybody thinks as long as people are willing to line up at Apple Stores everytime they come out with a new product. And when Apple tells you to "Think Different," they want you to think like "they" do. We all think we are being "individuals" by buying Apple products, but we are nothing more than Lemmings going off the cliff chasing Apple flavored Kool-Aid.

And here's something to think about: Many of my friends who have Samsung phones are dissapointed with them for one reason or another, and more than once someone has asked me about an app I have that's not available on Android. Again, like lemmings, many of you will call your carrier and go over to the "Dark Side," only to find yourself dissapointed once again because you researched nothing and believed the hype.

I'm not in love with this new OS, but do some Google searches to resolve your problems and only then take a really hard look at he competition before jumping ship. As Eleanor Roosevelt said, "It's better to light a candle than curse the darkness." Maybe you will be happier with another phone, but there are a lot of candles out on the internet.

If they 'roll back' to iOS 6, then your warranty is voided.

If they choose to replace it with one that has iOS 6 on it and never updated, that's different.

What 'tech support' said you could roll back iOS at any Apple Store?

Eventually, those Apple customers that did not upgrade to iOS 7 (or found a non-Apple authorized way to downgrade back to iOS 6), will discover that their favorite app will require iOS 7 or higher.  Look at all the iPhone 3G users.  The iPhone 3G is barely 5 years old.  And they can' t use most of the current apps inthe App store, because it requires 4.3 or higher.

And then, they'll have to choose; change brands, or update to the newest iOS.

"Perhaps I've been a Russian ... But all I will say one more opinion-If there is no rollback (Although from the BETA version could roll away as I understood until the 21st of this month ...), you must either replace the icons in the menu on the standard and issue such as ios 7.0. 1, or write additional software to be able to change the font, tags, etc ... Thanks to those who understands me"

If i understand the translation of your post, it appears to me you wish to speak to Apple.

If that is correct, you should use http://www.apple.com/feedback/ to tell them because they are not here. This is a user to user forum.

Why worry about voiding your warranty when the brains at Apple have taken a product and made it inefficient?

Because if you decide to sell your iPhone secondhand to one of the millions of people that DON'T have a problem with iOS 7, then voiding your warranty greatly reduces the resale value.

Also, iOS 6 devices are supported by Apple Support.  But if your warranty is voided, you will receive NO support.

Just go buy an iPhone 3GS.  That can still legally use iOS 6.1.3.

To all those helpful posters who keep reminding us (especially relatively new Apple converts like me ) that we could have tried the new iOS before updating, we could, but as I have discovered in my short time as an Apple user, having to 'upgrade' is inevitable if you want your device to continue to function. My approach has always been do it early and learn the new functions/quirks. I thought I could live with simple changes in graphics and appearance. Turns out its not such a simple thing.

As for the comments on Android etc! I moved from Android in July because I really didn't like the garish colours and flighty graphics, and after using an iPad for a few years and seeing my wife's iPhone decided to change. Unfortunately the new upgrade means I feel like I now have another Android phone, not a real Android phone, but a poor copy because as you'd expect Apple don't do Android - if you see my meaning.

BUT I'm guessing the new OS was designed to compliment the 5c ( fine for people who want a brightly coloured plastic phone) and probably designed to capture new customers from Android. Unfortunately I feel like so many existing customers do when companies try to attract new business by running promotions and offers - undervalued.

I really enjoy my Apple products and love their build quality and design. I just hope I'm still using them in 12 months with an OS as beautiful as the hardware.

The restore from backup only restore data not firmaware. So that will not work.

Well then it would seem to me that this isn't the first time in the last few days apple hasn't done their job properly. I don't think most people care about legal terms and promises. What they do care about is moral and ethical business practices. I've run my own business for over 10 years, and if I  "upgraded" someones vehicle, and then the wheels wouldn't turn, I wouldn't say "well I can put it on a train, or you can pay and I'll have it towed". Your pompus overtone is quite rediculous. What I did pay for, was over  $600 for a iPhone that functions, and if the manufacturer causes it to malfunction, through no fault of the end user, than a company that wants to keep or gain a loyal following would do its best to rectify the situation, and that's right....

At no cost to the customer, as quickly as possible.

Do it right the first time, or don't do it at all.
