I'm hanging, man. I just hope something happens. Have not been a long time Apple follower, but I'd like to think the fact the ol interwebs is inundated with dislike for this new OS, they might actually do something. Firing that guy I watched on the Apple homepage video, with the fluffy unicorn and rainbow drivel would be a good start. I think I would be more entertained staring at a potato than hear that guy drone on.
Just hope the wife holds out. I dont want a divided smartphone household.

Sep 27, 2013 8:06 PM in response to GryphonLAby gail from maine,You are completely misinformed. The iOS is not downloaded to your device until you select "Install". In iTunes on a computer you have the option to "Download", "Download & Install", or "Cancel" (with the additional option of "Don't show me this message again"). However, on your device, you only have the Install button. Clicking on that button initiatiates both the download and the install.
Until you click on that button, nothing is "force downloaded", nothing is taking up 2-3GB of space anywhere.
Again, on a computer:
Download = downloads but does not install the iOS
Download & Install = downloads and installs the iOS on the attached device
Cancel = does not download or install said iOS
Do not display this message again = it doesn't remind you to download, download & install, or cancel the iOS update any more
On an iOS Device
Settings>General>Software Update - Install = downloads and installs the iOS
All downloads are initiated by the user of the device/computer. No iOS update is "force-downloaded" anywhere.
Cheers,
GB

Sep 27, 2013 8:10 PM in response to ngk22rby Major_Tom007,There are users that have upgraded their software with no issues, and there are users who are experiencing problems since the upgrade. The visual change can be a bit much to digest for some, but this doesn't really affect functionality. There are however issues that are affecting functionality that make using our devices tough. I personally have usability issues with my phone and have been dealing with Apple tech support, reading this forum and searching the web for fixes since upgarding my phone. I'm not a huge fan of the visual look, just hanging onto hope that options are offered in the future. We are all struggling to get our phones working properly, so for those individuals regurgitating the same answers...get used to ios7 or leave...I thank you for making this transition easy!

Sep 27, 2013 8:23 PM in response to gail from maineby GryphonLA,OK, Gail, so I'm imagining this? Can you tell me then WHERE that 2.5 GB of space disappeared to overnight on both my phone and my iPad? And why my boss's iPhone 4s is paused in the middle of a download that she never initiated? Unless you think us and the hundreds of others complaing about this just "slept-downloaded" it.

Sep 27, 2013 8:25 PM in response to GryphonLAby gail from maine,Let me put it this way - why would people all over the world have been posting to this forum asking why their iOS 7 update was hanging up if it was already downloaded to their devices? Why would it take 10 mintues for an install to complete, and why would it indicate that it was downloading during that process, if it was only installing.
I have no idea what the issues you are reporting are related to, but I can guarantee you that they are not related to a "forced" download that was not initiated by the user of the device.
Sorry I can't help troubleshoot whatever the issues are, but just don't have enough information to do that. However, I can ensure you that you can rule out a "forced" download of iOS 7....
Cheers,
GB

Sep 27, 2013 8:35 PM in response to viperman17by Alphamatthew,It has all already been said.
I have submitted several feedbacks to apple.
For the first time in 30+ years of loving apple products, I am embarrassed and disgusted with one.
Ios7 is a disaster and I want a downgrade NOW
RIP STEVE, and god I hope apple is listening

Sep 27, 2013 8:39 PM in response to DIMITRI1975Lby KC7GNM,Funny how everyone is complaining now that it is out but yet when iOS7 was unveiled everyone said how great it looked and how nice it was. Now everyone is complaining about nothing. The ones complaining on here are just here to complain and nothing else. It has been shown for a few months now what iOS7 was going to look like including the the animations. So everyone that is complaining you DID NOT HAVE TO UPGRADE SO QUIT COMPLIAINGING BECAUSE YOU CANNOT GO BACK.

And you really couldn't tell how your user / usability experience was going to be until you actually got to use it. Bottom line apple should have known better.

It is clear from the amount of points you have that you spend a lot of your time thinking about Apple. Most people just want a useful and elegant phone. They don't think about it. They don't want to.
But, they have every right to be angry and upset when someone takes away from them the excellent user experience they love.
What user experience was taken from you? I think they actually improved the user experience. I love the new interface. The old one was 5 years old and needed a facelift. This is fresh. You just don't like change and can't deal with it.

You do realize that part of that space is dedicated to the iOS you are running?

Seriously? Are you intentionally being obtuse? You're trying to tell me that i ran my iPad one night and had 3.2 GB of FREE SPACE... OF STORAGE, and when I ran it the next morning, my iOS decided to take 2.5GB of that for no reason... with NO apps open? Stop trying to rationalize it... It's happening. CNET reported it, MacRumors reported it, ZDNet reported it. Apple staff confirmed that it was undeletable.

And you could have gone into an apple store or best buy or carrier store to try it out before you downloaded. Again you did not do your homework. You expected to try it on your phone and then downgrade knowing full well that apple never has allowed a downgrade option.
