Sep 28, 2013 5:49 PM in response to cap-brby GABarber,THere are certainly some improvements that I liked - but useability was sacrificed for cosmetics - young people are certainly attracted by the colors in the store (as I observed). It simply lacked a variety of skins so that the old familiar look wasn't completely wiped out by the update.
It would have been more prudent to allow the restore to iOS6 for a while upon request with Apple Care approval - rather than replace phones.
So while I criticise the design - its more a result of overconfident management attempting to refresh something without working out and anticipating the problems.

Sep 28, 2013 5:53 PM in response to GABarberby ActIII,The functionality has really improved with IOS7, however the animations and other eye candy are unneeded and are counter productive. Really want to like IOS 7, just need an option to turn off the useless animations.

Thanks for recent response regarding Applecare. It actually seems like a pretty good idea. Fortunately / unfortunately I've already traded my 4S with the neighbor kid. I've got his 3GS and am fairly content for the time being. I can read the screen without suffering undue eye strain.
You mentioned the overconfident management staff. Just wondering if the story below is true. If true, it would certainly seem to answer some questions.

Sep 28, 2013 6:44 PM in response to meganutsby marysplacestudio,Wow, that's interesting.... And might explain why things went so wrong in terms of design. But this is what I can't fathom: how does it take "teams of marketing" people to design white screens with a touch of blue text? Or take the Notes app that is a barren white page with barely visible yellow text? This isn't design, but starting from scratch... And ending there. It's stunning that this is called design when anyone could whip that up in Pages in literally under a minute.
Really, it's called "un-designing", because anything aesthetic is virtually gone inside apps. It's very disappointing to see some great apps tossing their designs as well for the dreaded "white screen." Like Maps.... It used to have cool sign graphics. These have been replaced by—you guessed it—a white banner. Nice.
Just waiting for the iSunglasses to come out.

Sep 28, 2013 9:06 PM in response to meganutsby gifts4me,@meganuts, I just got back from the Verizon store, cost me $100.00 to get another 4S with OS6, happy! They told me all I had to do was go back to my computer, plug the phone in, hit back up and restore and everything would be there... Not, it tells me now I have software that is OUT OF DATE, please update your software in order to restore your phone. Maybe not exact words but something like that. Really Apple? So, back to the Genius Bar I go... All I really want are my pictures and contact list, the rest I can add manually...

Sep 28, 2013 9:21 PM in response to ngk22rby nybe,WOW, that was soooooo hard to just act like a grown up and take self responsability and intiative to look up a solution..
Trust me, all this has been gone through adnauseum. I was into that menu choice ("reduce motion") and turned it off before you even knew it existed.
Now chill out, you big bad grown up.

Wow, driving on curving roads must drive you absolutely bonkers. 3D movies must put you in a coma. I think it is more that people just want to complain. With all the information on IOS 7, videos, etc. you still chose to upgrade. One has to wonder what motivated that decision.
These kinds of snarky comments are completely rediculous. What're you twleve years old?
Twelve years old or not, I can spell "ridiculous" and the use of "what're" is not accepted as standard English. You made up a contraction that doesn't really exist.
People knew full well what IOS 7 was going to look like. There were hundreds, if not thousands of web sites with information. There was the full video of the Apple announcement. To install what was probably one of the most widely reported OS upgrades, then complain you don't like the OS, is just, well, silly. The upgrade was not automatic but had to be installed by the user, a deliberate decision. Get used to IOS 7. All new phones will come with IOS 7. Don't like it, go to Droid, which also has it's own issues.
IT'S NOT ABOUT WHAT IT 'LOOKED' LIKE! Do you possibly consider the fact that video and photos do not anywhere near add up to actual user experience?
Or are you just exercising your trolling skills?
Or you simply really do believe that me, and a TON of other people reporting this problem, are making all this up...

Sounds like you should visit the doctor. I do not get any bad feeling using iOS 7, it gives me a nice warm feeling and makes me happy...
Sounds like you should go play in traffic.
uh getting sick from looking at an electronic device is NOT NORMAL!!!!
Hence, go see a doctor... Remember how there is a group of people who get seizures from looking at fast flashing lights?? That is not normal, it is a medical condition..
But seriously if you have nausa from looking at the phone that is a sign you should see a doctor.
article in the Guardian:
Why iOS 7 is making some users sick
The problem for those suffering is twofold: first, many other people refuse to believe a problem exists; secondly, there's no fix. "We're often contacted by people affected by moving images on screens, but people are affected in different ways — what's a problem for one person may not be for another," explained Natasha Harrington-Benton

Sep 28, 2013 11:44 PM in response to viperman17by brsm1990,http://www.everythingicafe.com/fix-battery-life-ios-7/2013/09/23/
Even after turning off EVERYTHING horrific battery drain remains. I had the same battery drain with iPhone 5. I restored from new, then I exchanged the iPhone 5 for a new one. Still horrible battery drain. With iPhone 5 it was only if the phone was using cellular data. So I downgraded to iPhone 4S. Battery life back to ~8 hours usage and 20-24 hours stand by no problem. Upgrade to iOS 7 and the same battery drain is back only this time it's not just cellular data - it's ANY TIME the iPhone is unlocked at all. In both cases the phone got hot. Apple is officially a company that just makes things worse and worse and worse.

Sep 29, 2013 1:50 AM in response to viperman17by Wolfman2004,Why has Apple chosen to go far backwards with the design of the IOS7's icons? The rest of the world is moving ahead towards 3D and amazing graphics, but Apple jumps at least 20 years backwards to the old Commodore64 graphics if even that. The icons is flat, bland 2D with hippie pastel colours.
This has truly made me consider a change of smartphone instead, just like SO many others. Just look at this forum, and see how many distastes this "new" design. But Apple probably will not listen, because Apple cannot do anything wrong!!
Many says that they like the new design, but consider that many of these peoples are fanatic about Apple, and thinks that whatever Apple does they could not live without, nor admit that Apple is not that great after all.
Please APPLE - move far, far away from ancient looks, and give us back amazing FRONTRUNNING graphics. Steve Jobs may have to come back from beyond to save Apple ones again. He would NEVER have allowed Apple to shoot themselves in the foot like this. Apple is loosing fans at an amazing pace right now.

Sep 29, 2013 1:57 AM in response to Wolfman2004by christianfromhessen,You should definitely give Apple your Feedback through www.apple.com/feedback
Many Users have the same opinion like you and the more negative feedback reaches them the more likely something will happen.
