Sep 29, 2013 2:39 PM in response to Badger3kby ActIII,Functionality should be above looks, these animations don't do squat for functionality yet they have to add them to compete. A toggle in settings for performance over appearance is all Apple needs to do, allow the users to decide if they want eye candy or speed.

Now phone is now seen in devices in both iTunes and iPhoto. will now back up and take the risk on downloading the new IOS 7.02 upgrade which came out to tday. Sep 29, 2013 3:17 PM in response to celliot9999by Major_Tom007,ios 7.0.2 is just a security upgrade. I was told security upgardes are the first to come out, makes sense!. Hopefully Apple address the many other issues soon.

Sep 29, 2013 3:21 PM in response to viperman17by bruce32,I was unable to restore to ios 6. Before upgrading my iphone was something in my pocket that I used to help me with ever increasing useful things. But now with IOS 7 it as become a burden and weight in my pocket. I don't feel like using it anymore.

I too am desperately looking for a way to downgrade. ios7 is very disappointing.
You can't go back. Either learn to live with iOS 7 or don't. It's your choice but you cannot downgrade back to iOS 6 so I suggest you dig in and get used to it, learn how to use it.
And unless you live under a rock there have been numerous articles descibing the changes and new look. you had plenty of time to decide if you liked it or not before you upgraded.
Mmmm, I've been lucky enough to have owned all the iPhones since 2007 & I have to say that I was in two minds about staying with iPhone when this update was anounced in june, but I have a huge amount of investment in the Apple ecosystem so that weighed in heavily while I was looking at other smartphones on the market...
In the end I did buy the 5S, and have been truly disappointed with the purchase... ios7 in my opinion is an horrendous operating system, the camera editing controls are way to fiddly & it seems to me that its been written for a target audience of 5-9 year olds...
So as you can see its difficult to decide if we like something or not prior to purchase, sometimes you gotta play with these things to decide that its not for you....

You are completely misinformed. The iOS is not downloaded to your device until you select "Install". In iTunes on a computer you have the option to "Download", "Download & Install", or "Cancel" (with the additional option of "Don't show me this message again"). However, on your device, you only have the Install button. Clicking on that button initiatiates both the download and the install.
Until you click on that button, nothing is "force downloaded", nothing is taking up 2-3GB of space anywhere.
Again, on a computer:
Download = downloads but does not install the iOS
Download & Install = downloads and installs the iOS on the attached device
Cancel = does not download or install said iOS
Do not display this message again = it doesn't remind you to download, download & install, or cancel the iOS update any more
On an iOS Device
Settings>General>Software Update - Install = downloads and installs the iOS
All downloads are initiated by the user of the device/computer. No iOS update is "force-downloaded" anywhere.
Cheers,
GB
Gail, your post above is misinformed. My iPhone 5 has the iOS 7 "Upgrade" DOWNLOADED to the device and it is taking up several GB of space. The iOS 7 operating system install data is on my hardware. It has the notification on the Settings icon and is just waiting form me to hit "INSTALL". I did not initiate this download although I'm guessing I will be informed that I accepted a T&C that allows this, and as we all know, Apple is always right. In fact, I removed iOS 7 from my device and when back to iOS 6.1.4 when the window was still open.
I have used many different Android devices and say what you will about Android (getting really good), but when a new OS comes out you are just given a heads-up that it is available. It is not jammed to your phone just because you have some SYNC settings on. Now it appears I will need to do a backup and wipe the phone, then fill it with music to keep Cupertino out of my junk.
At least I still have a mint iPhone 5 running 6.1.4, and from the looks of it, it's worth more money than it was yesterday.

I hate to break it to you, but what they showed online about ios 7 doesn't look like what we got. Plus, the pictures are blown up, not actual size, which is VERY misleading. And trying out in stores? Get real. That might have been an option when I 1st purchased my devices 3 years ago. Now every store that I go in has the device LOCKED BEHIND GLASS. Good luck getting someone to open the glass up to actually let you try it out. And since visually impaired people don't drive (and a lot of us use Apple devices), many of us do not have the option of going to an Apple store. And of course, there is the fact that most of the stores I have been in still have the devices on ios 6 (I can tell, since I can actually READ the screen and it doesn't look like an acid trip). Stop telling us just to deal with it. Ios 7 ***** big time and has made devices useless to a lot of customers. I was considering buying a newer ipad next year. But I won't if ios 7 is as unreadable as it is now!
Really. Let's see I could go to the sprint store and see ios7 on the 5S and 5C. They had demo versions at Best Buy. So your argument is not valid. Also what they showed on stage at the WWDC was exactly what you got so you knew way ahead of time what it was going to look like. Don't even try to say you didn't know. You can change the text size and boldness if you want too. You are just too lazy to actually go and do it before complaining on here.

This thread has over 32,000 views. Not sure how this compares to previous "upgrades," but Apple can't ignore this. Waiting for 7.0.3.
And what makes you think 7.0.3 will improve anything? Everytime an update comes out people post in here that the newest upgrade *****. Just look it up. You can't please everyone. I for one like the upgrade. It looks great and works fine on my 5S.

For your argument to be valid, every iPhone owner in the world would need to be an iGeek. That may be your world, but for the vast majority of iPhone owners, they just like the device and use it. As it turns out for those who don't like it, their big mistake was having faith in hitting the "INSTALL" button after Apple pushed the download to their device. If you're suggesting that trusting Apple to provide an attractive product is lazy, then your point is becoming increasingly more valid. Time will tell.

if you didnt upgrade and dont want to be disturbed everytime by the OS asking if you want to upgrade it.. here is the advice..
1- backup your iphone on itunes
2- perfome factory reset (it will wipe out the iOS7 from your iphone, if already downloaded)
3- restore it using itunes
4- disable wifi right after restored (to avail auto download again of iOS7)
5- fill up your iphone with photos or musics, leave less than 3GB free.
Now, if you go to Settings -> General -> Software update .. You will see msg like this:
There is no way to install the upgrade because you need at least 3.2gb free
Cheers
Thanks for sharing this. Did your device have the iOS 7 data downloaded to the device prior to doing the backup in iTunes?
Mine has the iOS 7 operating system install file downloaded to the device. I'm wondering whether if I do a backup to iTunes with that iOS7 download data on the device if it will also backup that iOS 7 install data, or delete it, allowing me to have a clean 6.1.4 install that I can then fill with music to prevent Cupertino from pushing iOS 7 to my device again. I assume that is what you experienced and that it will delete that file and not back it up.

Sorry, but it still becomes the consumers responsability to research before hand. This is the guideline of the FTC, basically if you are too lazy to research even they say its your own fault...

Sep 29, 2013 8:02 PM in response to ngk22rby GABarber,Here's a legal riddle - If I bought my phone with iOS6 and made a backup on my computer of iOS6 - is Apple entitled to remove from me the access and use of my own backup?
I'd also make a claim - just like that someone made about purchasing beds - only the use of it is an adequate test.
Note also that California law allows for 30 day returns for Phones for just this reason.
