Extending AppleCare

I Purchased an iPhone 4s that already had an Apple care plan on it. (Expires 9th November 2013)

Once this expires, is that it or can I purchase another AppleCare plan myself for this handset to extend cover once this one ends?

iPhone 4S, Windows 7
