iTunes 11.1 deleted my podcasts

Updated to iTunes 11.1 last night, came back in the morning and almost all of my podcasts are gone. Years and years of podcasts all gone. Not in the recycle bin either.

What the heck? Where is the delete all podcasts button? The default setting is "keep all episodes"

This is probably the most poorly tested iTunes update ever.

Same problem. Lost massive amounts of saved podcasts - especially NPR All Songs Considered... Seems any decent number of podcasts get deleted. One, BBC Food Program, I found only three recent versions despite having saved since 2010. Then, clicking on the download cloud next to the podcast host name, it downloaded ALL the missing podcasts. I then saved iTunes, closed, restarted - and they were all gone again. This time I downloaded ALL the pods and then transferred them to a folder on my desktop. At least I have them. Am doing the same to All Songs Considered.

None of these files were in the iTunes folder (but simply invisible to the interface).

By far an inept iTunes update. Incredibly poor. I miss Jobs. I miss his attention to detail. I worry that Apple was a one-man wonder and we will all be driven into a PC-like ****.

Absolutely not happy.

I love it when people play the "This never would've happened if Jobs was stil alive" card.

I've got news for you. There was just as much chance of this update shipping with the exact same problem if Steve Job was still alive and well.

I won't argue that there wasn't a chance, but it just didn't seem to happen. Anyone who says things haven't changed at Apple haven't been paying attention.

Part of the problem here is that since everyone is going to iPhones and iPads that don't have the storage I have on my iPod Classic, there is a bigger desire to keep things "cleaned up."

Thankfully, I only fool with my podcasts about once every couple weeks and haven't lost anything (yet). Thanks for the heads up, everyone. Sorry for your loss.

Hi Everyone.

I am having the same problems that you are all describing here, Apple do not read what is posted in here.

You need to leave feedback on the feedback page http://www.apple.com/feedback/ They do read this as I have found out. The moor people that submit feedback regarding these issues the more chance of getting it fixed.

You can also e-mail and explain your issues, this does get read, you do get a response.

I spent the best part of an hour on Friday talking with Steffen M. explaining all the issues that we are having, it is from him that I learned that they do not read these forums and that the only way to get a response is by the routes above.

I left Steffen in no doubt that I was not happy with the recent update / downgrade of both iTunes and iOS and that if his products could no longer do what I needed, I no longer needed his products. He is away talking with the developers and I expect to hear from him durning the week. I am not sure what the result will be but if we all tell them what is wrong maybe they will listen.

The updated removed my podcasts also and they are no longer available. I am sad and have not been happy at about Itunes 11 no real new functionality but buggy interface and only the parts I like were available on Itune 10. I hope Itunes's team reads these post and understands that they need to be more careful with their testing. I think users have valid critisms about the lack of testing and bugs that keep coming with Itunes 11. This is my first post but I have had a great experience with Itunes and Apple for that matter until this update- I agree with Ken very sad about the loss of my unrecoverable data. I do hope Apple will more closely examine the Itunes updates in the future.

I have the same issue and it seems unrelated to iTunes version (I did downgrade to 11.0 and 11.1.1 to try it out and had the same issues).

What it looks like is an iCloud-related issue. At least for me, iTunes keeps the episodes I keep in my iDevices, obliterating everything else. I already submitted feedback and I'm waiting for a fix, but I don't hope fot it to come out any soon...
