Oct 2, 2013 8:45 AM in response to nadine505by Adrian Sen,I have read most of the posts in here but I think I have a different issue. I have an iPhone 4S and both front and rear cameras worked perfectly before the ios 7 update. After the update, nothing in the camera app works. In fact everything is frozen - it can't move to the video or any other of those menu items -absolutely nothing happening. I have reset all settings, turned off using power and home button but nothing. Any help on the horizon?

Oct 2, 2013 11:05 AM in response to Adrian Senby Marky1971,Same issue here with iPad 2 and iOS 7. Apple engineering told me its a hardware issue. I absolutely refuse to believe that. My rear cam was working just fine before the upgrade. This affects certain ipad 2-4, as well as iphone 4 to 5s users. Extremely disappointed in Apple right now. I even escalated this to Customer Relations but haven't heard back from them yet.

Oct 2, 2013 11:27 AM in response to smevansby HadyS,I have had the same problem again after I have fixed as per my previuos post.
This time I have connected my iphone to my laptop, have deleted old backups, created a new backup then I have restored backup and it worked and I have the two cameras again working properly.

Oct 2, 2013 1:05 PM in response to dsgoncalvesby nadine505,They need to know it's NOT a hardware problem!!! It's definitely a software problem caused by upgrade to iOS 7 and, I believe, incompatibility with other apps. When I updated and/or deleted all my apps, the problem went away and the camera is working PERFECTLY again. So NOT hardware problem.

Oct 3, 2013 3:28 PM in response to smevansby Patthataz,Ahoy Iphonians! I too have no camera function. Never ever had an issue until one week after update to Ios7. Camera stuck on camera mode and will not take pics or switch to any other function. Fix the glitch someone, we are cheering for you!

Oct 4, 2013 9:37 AM in response to smevansby Beto Silveira,The same problem here with a 5S 64Gb Black with 4 days of use, I restore the phone and the problem solves, but after few shots the camera freezes again, so it's NOT a hardware problem, it's a SW problem, Apple Engineers, solve this issues asap!!
I cannot go to an Apple Store, because I live in Brazil, and even the 5S was launched here yet, so the warranty will not cover at this time.
I'm missing Jobs' older times...

Oct 4, 2013 3:33 PM in response to Beto Silveiraby Lindsayboy,I just had the same issue, and after a week I went to Apple store and they replaced it. Out of warranty, so I had to pay - then can claim it back from Squaretrade coverage. After reading this thread though, I think I'll be going back to Apple Store to demand a refund - because this was not my fault! This was caused by the upgrade to iOS7 - clearly. These reports are all identical.

Oct 6, 2013 11:49 AM in response to smevansby silverjet_,I had the same issue with my iphone 4. Everything was working fine until upgrade to ios7. After that, camera app opens but screen is black, then freezes. There are no conflicting app issues because the phone is completely reset to original settings. I have no additional apps installed. This is totally a software issue and I hope the next ios revision can fix it. Is it possible that the ios7 update can 'break' the camera? Everyone needs to call Apple support to complain about this issue so they do something about it. Right now they refuse to admit its a software problem. My phone is out of warranty so genius bar won't replace it.
If someone gets a REAL answer from Apple Support, please post it here for others to see.
What a f'n pain...

Oct 6, 2013 1:54 PM in response to silverjet_by Adrian Sen,As posted before, I had complete freeze on my front and rear cameras. After reading some of these posts, I started removing some of the apps on my iPhone 4S. I started with anything to do with the camera - barcode apps torches etc..
I very quickly managed to get my front camera (the one that looks at me) back. Eventually I got my other one half back - unusable as it stutters but at least some signs of life. Not removed all my apps as some have passwords that I can't remember, but this might point some people in the right direction

Oct 6, 2013 7:53 PM in response to Adrian Senby curley0556,Thanks for your suggestions. I have a iphone 5. I have never had a problem for 10 months until IOS 7.02. I was at a Spcial event getting ready to take a picture when camera went black. Tofday FaceTime only showed the Calling person, not me. After reading your reply, I deleted the OCR reader first and front and rear camera came alive..than I deleted any App that delt with camera as you did. So far so good. I have an appointment with Apple store on Tuesday to Varify actions. Will get back to forum with answer.

Oct 6, 2013 10:39 PM in response to smevansby Looeey,It could in fact be a hardware issue relating to faulty RAM; iOS7 uses far more resources, which would explain why some users are able to get the camera app to work after a restart.

Oct 7, 2013 5:00 AM in response to smevansby JNeugie,I had the same issue, but I resolved it by RESET ALL SETTINGS, and NOT using a dynamic wallpaper.

Oct 7, 2013 1:59 PM in response to smevansby Joe_damage,Glad I'm not alone. Camera not working, iMessage having issues as are emails, all after the iOS 'upgrade'. My local Genius Bar booked out for the next 4 days, the day after I fly to NYC on vacation. Great. Apple burying their head in the sand here by the looks of it on what is clearly a software issue.
