Q: iOS 7 breaks windows authentication.

This is a HUGE problem. Please fix this as soon as possible. It does work on Chrome but Chrome on iPad is pretty bad...

If anyone has found a workaround please, please let me know.

Thanks for all of the help.

Disabling Kerberos seemed to work for me initially back when I was narrowing down the issue, but a few days later, I was seeing the same symptoms with only NTLM enabled. If you try it, report back in a few days and let us know if it's still working.

One thing to consider if using Safari and Private browsing:

If turning to Private browsing dose not resolve your problem, try turning OFF Password & AutoFill to clear any previous passwords.

    We instructed our users to:

    • Go to Settings
    • Select Safari then Password & AutoFill
    • Turn off Names and Passwords
    • Go To Saved Passwords and make sure there are no passwords in the section
    • Double press the Home button to show running applications
    • Find the Safari page and swipe upward to close the Safari app
    • Then log back into the webpage

The Login window should appear, and the this should operate properly.

We had to do this on a few iPads where just turning Private browsing on did not work.  Once we went through this procedure, all iPads were able to get authenticated and go through to our website.

I do not know if we have Kerberos turn on or not; but we did not have to make any changes to the website or server.

    Hope this helps.

We have hundreds of iPads experiencing this exact issue.  Apple acts like they don't know about it when you call Applecare.

Same boat. We have an open ticket with several apple reps. They see the issue, I wouldn't let them tell me its my website. I will update you when they update me. iOS 7.0.3 is rumored to release early next week.

Yeah, not funny at all. We have a lot of installations affected. Hopefully the impending 7.0.3 update addresses this.

I have sites down too, which have to use private browsing or Puffin as a work-around.

However, since I don't have access to Safari source code, there isn't much I can do about it, until Apple posts an IOS update.

But, if it will make you feel better, I'll wring my hands and spin a tale of woe and hundreds of people affected too.

In my application also [NSURLConnection sendSynchronousRequest:returningResponse:error] not work, that should use [NSURLCredentialStorage sharedCredentialStorage], but it seems that NSURLConnection ignore credential storege...Have you had the same problem?

This works for us(private mode)..good work around until Apple fixes it.  Suppose it was on purpose to poke MS just for fun:-)

Same here.  Kerberos authentication to SharePoint broken in iOS 7 Safari. So much for Enterprise features...

Please DO file a bugreport! The first one I filed was immediately closed by Apple, then I filed the same one again with some test login credentials e.g. http://dave.brittens.org/NTLMTest with 'Test' and 'Test'.

The second bugreport stayed 'open' with some 'request of engineering' and has been closed a few days ago due to a duplicate report (which is still open, so I don't expect a fix in 7.0.3).

The more people file this bug, regardless of being a duplicate, the more attention it gets.

Abolutely agree that everyone, especially if you are in charge of your corporate intranet support, to open a support request with Apple. I opened one about 10 days ago. The frontline is very friendly, empathetic and really want this fixed too. Mine is still at the level of getting an Apple engineer to test and confirm. I have requested an official confirmation back that they acknowledge the issue...80% of the challenge before getting a fix.

The main challenge of Apple support is that the system is opaque. You cannot login and see what progress is being made on your request. Only internal Apple support can even verify if your request is actually open and progressing. This is a very big shortfall in their process. Transparency leads to trust.

As for Apple closing duplicate requests from different people, that should not happen. They should be able to link together multiple similar requests and treat them as one....like a class action suit.

Additionally, do use their feedback page for whatever device you are using (iPhone, iPad) here

FYI, the workaround we are using currently is Chrome for iOS. Not a perfect solution, but it's usable.

I just filed another bug report to confirm, and also let them know that were using Chrome due to this.
