mass delete of email

In IOS7 is there any way to Mass delete emails? The IPhone pulled in 3748 junk emails. Most mail programs let u mark all and then delete...this just says mark as read, I thought Apple would fix this. TY

iPhone 5, iOS 7

If I might humbly submit:

Take the 'Hold move' trick, and couple it with this 'Delete from server'.

It works apparently. I work for one of the cellular carriers that carries the iPhone, and we get this problem. I use these two fixes together, and Wonder Twins Activate! Form of: Apple i-email Delete Patch!

It definitely worked for me.

Have a Great Day!

Delete the mail account from your iPhone.

Go to the main website for your email account and verify that all emails have been deleted.

Create a backup of your iPhone.

Erase the iPhone.

Restore the backup.

Add the mail account back onto your iPhone.

You may not need to do the steps in italics, but if you only do steps 1,2 & 6 and it doesn't work, try all the steps in order again.

Here you go- this works!

There is a perfect way of deleting ALL emails at once without jailbreaking your iphone or ipad…and here it is:

>> Open Inbox >> Edit >> Mark All >> Mark As Read [Added May 21, 2014 by Adrian; this extra step makes the difference between success & failure for some.]

>> Open Inbox >> Edit >> Check/select the top message; it will highlight the move button.

>> Press and hold the move button and uncheck the message that you had checked earlier.

>> Lift all your fingers off from the ipad screen and leave it alone. Wait until all your messages pile up on the right hand portion of the screen (in ipad); iphone will give you the actual number of emails it has selected for the action. Now they are just waiting for your command to be moved ALL at once.

>> Choose trash to delete all of them or any other folder where u want to move them, like one piece. Remember this will replicate your action on the server so you will ACTUALLY move them or delete them on the server and not just the ipad.

Once you have moved all messages to the trash you can either leave them there for the scheduled cleaning or empty it right away by doing this: go to trash folder and touch Edit. The Delete All button shows up at the bottom of the screen. Hit it! You’re done!

If you do not see the effects of your actions on the server make sure you have enabled your email accounts for such actions.

Nope. Tried that. Even went to the server and manually deleted everything from there to make sure it couldn't re-update the phone. Went out of the app; went in; all emails back again.

This represents just one more reason why, after an 18 month experiment with Apple products, I have had enough. It's shame, since there is much about them that I like, but I'm tired of the arrogance and almost cult-like blind devotion of too many of their users. If such people were less inclined to defend Apple with such inane comments as "Well, Apple obviously do it that way for a reason", and started actually taking Apple to task over their "We know what's best for you" attitude, the company and its products might just have a chance of surviving the next ten years. But I'm not holding my breath.

To all,

I have had the same problem of not being able to mass delete emails from my Iphone. I have many clients asking me how to do it and I am unable to provide them a satisfactory answer. I suspect that apple makes it difficult to mass delete for a reason and they do not intend to provide an easy way for people to mass delete emails. The reason is simple - They want our emails to fill up our ICloud accounts so that we keep upgrading to higher data storage plans. Most users won't realize that their Icloud storage space is being filled up by junk emails and they automatically will upgrade to a higher storage plan when they receive the warning message that their storage is full. Apple can easily provide a mass delete function but in my opinion, they made it difficult for a reason.
