If anyone knows a possibility to get podcasts in ios7 back in the music app - please help!!!
in my opinion podcasts are still audio and belong in an audioplayer where all audio can be played.

Apple should allow podcasts to be mixed with music in iTunes.
I listen to Podcasts while running. Many times it is the NY Times Popcast mixed with the music they are reviewing (purchased through the iTunes store). I put them all together in an iTunes playlist.
I do not understand why Apple would disallow this enjoyment via iTunes playlists of product purchased through them.
And that Podcasts app is rubbish because even though the interface is no longer as awful as it was under iOS 6, it is still an unnecessary separate app that still doesn't work well, and doesn't work at all with my car's iOS-compatible audio interface.
Just chiming in that I concur with just about all of you.
But the only way Apple will listen (if they ever do).
Is through this link
http://www.apple.com/feedback/
However remember this:
1: Apple is in this business to make money
2: podcasts are free
3: making it harder for you to listen to and keep podcasts is in their interests
4: as this will make you more inclined to buy the music featured in the podcasts
This is mainly valid for music podcasts but also more widely applicable of course
Basically the same is happening with iBooks, making it harder for you to use your own content legally bought elsewhere.
This is a general tendency in future updates. In future all media will become harder and harder to use including music.
And they will present it as a gift to the masses and the masses will swallow it like candy.
(Sorry for the little rant there at the end)
updated for clarity, grammar and typos
Joker,
Thanks for sending the link to the complaint hotline. That said, not sure that podcast revenues hold up for Apple ans they offer a great many free of charge. Although not as pleased with the podcast app as I was with using Itunes, it works in my vehicles and I am happy with it.
wantucce,
I think you misread me somehow (or i wasn' t clear enough, english is not my first language😀)
As podcasts are designed to be listened to and then thrown away, you could argue that they are in a way commercials for the music being played.
Hence if you keep your podcasts and you are not limited in where you can listen to them, there is no motivation to buy the music being played (unless you really want to).
What does interest me is how you got your podcasts to work in a safe way in your car?
If you do this using bluetooth this is not an option where I live.
As the only way you are allowed to control music is through the media system of your car and not directly using the idevice of your choice.
in other words: I have yet to see (or hear of) a viable solution whenever you connect your idevice directly to your mediasystem and control it as such to listen to podcasts in iOS 7.
my stopgap solution is to use an old iPod touch with iOS 6 installed but I would prefer just using my iPhone.
Joker,
Not an issue and I was not trying to be incindiary. Most of the podcasts that I listen to are spoken word. Comedy discussions and discussions around the arts. Some new stuff from time to time and a bit of science. You are correct that I listen through Bluetooth and usb control of my phone. I have voice control for simple functions in Bluetooth mode(play and such) and more command through USB with Itunes. Now that I think of it, I cannot control the podcast app unless it is the last thing set up on the phone. Otherwise, I have to pick the app and choose play and it takes control at that point. I will have try to control the app with my voice fully and see what happens.
It is frustrating though that it all used to be in Itunes and now it is seperated. And I am sure that the functionality of my vehicle (2013 Ford F150) may offer less frustration than other vehicles.
Here's a workaround:
Download Audio editing software (for free), something like Audacity (on Sourceforge).
Open the audio editing software then open the .mp3 of the podcast. Highlight the entire podcast in the software (or select parts, if you want to trim out the opening, the ending or whatever) then export it back as an MP3. Export it to one of you music folders, have iTunes browse to it so it's in you music collection. You should probably rename it to something short (ABep001.mp3 for example)
This will make it look like you podcast is just another song. Then you can have your podcasts in your music area on your phone.
It's not a great alternative, but it's an alternative to using the app.
I got this:
Go to podcasts in iTunes; right click and "get info" then change "Media Kind" to "Music"... automatically the files go to the music folder and... voila! you can sync them with your music app on your mobile device... i'm using it right now! hope this helps...

As with others I'm INCREDIBLY disapointed that Apple broke podcast support in iOS 7. I like iOS, but THE one and only reason I paid $950 for an iPhone was for Apple's (formerly) excellent podcast support...and then it turns out iOS 7's is utterly broken.
I've tried and tried that Podcast app and can't get it to work how I need it to.
My "solution" was to buy an iPod Classic and continue carrying two devices! Had I known I'd have to do that, I'd have just bought a Windows Phone or Nexus for 1/3 the price (I do like iOS better for some other reasons too...but Podcast support is the only reason I actually NEED an iPhone).
I reported this to Apple's feedback page as per the poster above, and I'd encourage every single one of you to do the same.
If for some reason someone actually LIKES the Podcast app, well I'm fine with them keeping it around IF podcasts continue working in the audio player like they have from iOS 1-6.
Judging by the 2/5 star review average on "Podcasts", I don't think we're alone though. It's an inane, clunky disaster. My needs have been served perfectly since 2005 downloading and managing my podcasts in iTunes and syncing them to all my devices...Podcasts breaks all that.
As for the posts about Apple not caring because they don't make money off of podcasts...that's true, but great podcast support SELLS HARDWARE. No one else has matched what Apple started in 2005. I'm not exagerating that I wouldn't have bought my iPhone back in September over a vastly cheaper Windows Phone/Nexus had I realized I'd still be carrying two devices.
The suggestion to change all podcasts to music + remember playback position sounds good...wonder if that actually works.
But please do use the feedback form! Apple did listen to some of the complaints regarding the new iTunes being broken....fixed some of the worst problems (though shockingly just this week I discovered some of my podcasts had quite downloading because "I hadn't listened to them for a while". Umm thanks iTunes but when I tell you to update them that's what I mean...)
What needs are not being met?
The needs not being met are covered in the 4 pages of this discussion. It boils down to Apple attempting to fix something that was not broken. They have replaced a working feature with a product that not only does not work well but in many cases makes the podcast listening experience unpleasant and frustrating.
